  • I am 6'1 and my SV650s fits me like a glove. Every day is amazing cause i get to ride it :P

  • @Vismis I'm 6'4 will this glove fit me? I was thinking about one plus found a good deal...

  • @plehdehgame PS if you intend to use your motorcycle for extended highway use, the GS500 or the Ninja 500r should also be considered as they're better on highways.

  • @plehdehgame Someone with no motorcycle experience, I'd say go with the 250...In a year or two you could easily sell it for the same price and upgrade to a larger bike. Your uncle is right in this case, it'll probably be too much power for you. Get him to teach you the basics, but keep it slow. Many motorcycle newbies get overconfident and smash into something. Also, enroll in an MSF course. It's cheap and it'll let you get the feel of a low cc motorcycle! And ALWAYS wear your safety equipment!

  • I have not yet gotten my moto license but i just started today, and i was looking at some bikes to be my first one. A lot of people are recommending the ninja 205r. Many others say you can learn just as good as you can on a sv650 while having a lot more of fun for a long time to come. I have no riding experience whatsoever but i can say that im good at bicycling (not sure if that means anything lol). Would the sv650 be too much power? My uncle says it will, he used to ride dirt bikes.

  • @plehdehgame I just started riding a month ago and I have this bike. If you're easy on the throttle you'll be fine. This bike is nimble and handles very well and is forgiving too. I'd recommend it to any new rider

  • Sounds like old II w.w. movie :) Awesome

  • lekkere sound hoor....

  • nice job, you just wasted 1min 10seconds of time for 43,000 people. the sv is nice starter bike for anyone else who got sucker'ed into this video. make a good track bike as long as you throw away the factory tires, put 20weight fork oil with racetech springs & valves in the front end. then learn how to late brake(more important than anything else). if you don't, those 110HP bikes will run away. i love mine after the mods.

  • deeh you dunno what your talking about...

  • what?

  • wow, what a idiot on a bike!!

  • mean!, nice flyby

  • I'm 6'3 I have a 05 SV650 Naked.. I have no problem planting both feet on the ground and standing up off the seat. Which is a nice stretch at a light after an hour in the seat.. If you are more then 170lbs, the fork springs are to soft, and you can feel a good dive when laying on the front brakes.. Get new springs and higher fork oil weight..

  • im probably gonna get a 2008-2009 sv650sf and im 6'4" and 180 lbs. should i do something about that or maybe should i wait and see if i need to do something about it or not lol...

  • im 6'-2" 180 LBS, and I ride it every day comfortably. 2005 43000 Mi.

  • o, cool, but i changed my mind a few months ago, probably gonna go for the CBR600rr. i sat on one, it's comfy.

  • have you had any major trouble with it over those 43000 miles. so pretty comfy to commute on?

  • None to report, I crashed it and destroyed everything in front of the radiator at 512 miles. It would still start, and was even ridable(ish). Ive just had to replace the seat from wear, but I live in Las vegas which gets up to 120 in the summer.. Ive kept up on the maintenence strictly. also Ive ran Organic oil instead of synthetic, with a 5 % mix of marvel mystery oil and 5% lucas oil. and at 5000 miles I did a microlon treatment to the engine. google all of that.

  • its just fine to commute, I travel 23 miles to work one way, and approximately 120 miles a week towards school each week. the front disks just about need replacing, but thats not unordinairy.

  • So it has enough leg room for tall people?

  • depends on how tall, like I said im 6'-2" or (188cm) and im all leg, so yeah unless you're andre the giant or yao ming im sure youll be okay.

  • @ruggedrider7

Im 6 foot and 240 lbs. It rides great

  • @ruggedrider7 leg room :D

  • its a twin, stfu nubface.

  • la blague...une SV650 full power...

  • huh reply didnt work

  • does that to me sometimes as well don't know why, the cbr (see below) has already been dropped a couple times so it wont take off a huge amount from its resale when i pull into a gas station and forget to put the kick stand down. :)

  • forget to put the kick stand down whata dumb ass u are

  • u knw whats top speed for sv1000s 2007

  • prolly 155(mph), but i thought they stopped making the 1000 in 2006?

  • naw they stop at o7 should i gt a power commander bro?

  • man, i honestly wouldnt know. if you want to squeeze more power out of your bike, yeah sure, but it MIGHT kill your mpg. it depends on what you want.

  • i have been looking for bikes for a month now as a beginner to buy my first bike. i've been checking hyosung gt250r, ninja 250r, gs500. Until i saw sv650. I fell in love with sv650 the moment i saw it. I am just reluctant because of the size of the bike, weight of the bike(relatively heavier compared to other 3) and the speed. I don't know if it will help me learn how to ride and improve my skills or i will be scared shitless every time i get on it...

  • if you've never ridden bikes before, SV650 can be too wild, it's fast and it pulls real quick, it can get you into trouble quickly. It's very agile for a middleweight though. If you're an absolute beginner, I'd recommend Ninja250, there will always be vetarans who say "ah you get bored of the 250 quickly!" that's their point of view, a veteran's. For a beginner the 250 is plenty of bike. You want to learn how to ride well? Get the 250.

  • vtwins have an effect to allow the rider to feel more comformtable using the power, it's more intuitive in comparison to the 4's.

  • i am going to try and buy one in a couple months, i would consider a smaller bike but im 6'4' so i think the position on a naked sv would be more comfortable

  • im 6'2 and ive ridden my SV650s from corpus to san antone to austin (230 miles in one day), if your about 200+ lbs like me, id worry about the seat more than anything. But if your doing alot of freeway/highway that front fairing on the S will definately come in handy. thats my 2 cents.

  • im only 170 on a good day so the seat should be okay, im more concerned with hitting my ears with my knees on a ninja 250

  • Don't be concerned, the new Ninja 250s are the same size ergonomically as bigger-bore bikes...

  • picked up a 99 cbr 600 f4 project bike a couple weeks ago for cheap, im in the middle of putting it back together again in a frame that has a clean title.

  • I got my first bike in 2003, it is a SV650S and it was a great first bike. I still have it and i still like it. It's not too twitchy(make sense?) at all. It's a solid v-twin and it's light.

Just don't ride beyond your skills on whatever bike you get. Take it slow and don't try to keep up with your buddies, that'll get you wrecked.

  • I made that mistake buying an fz6 whilst still restricted, fantastic bike but trying to keep up with my mates scared me to death. Went back down to a 250 and regret it, going for a sv650 early next year when my license lets me.

  • take a look on craigslist and see if you can find a nighthawk 550 with not less than 40,000 miles in good shape. A 650 might be to much but the 550 is an inline four with a good amount of torque to keep you entertained and it will be cheap (under a 1200 if your patient) so you wont cry when you drop it (which you probably will).

  • damn why don't my replies work?

  • Your replies probably do work, man. Sometimes the replies will appear right below the comment you're replying to, but other times they will appear up top as the most recent comment.

Pisses me off too, cuz no one knows what the hell you're talkin' about except the guy you replied to.

  • Do you think this bike is ok for a first time rider? or too powerful?

  • its great, a very forgiving, predictable bike, unless, your carving a 60mph corner in the cold ass morning going 110mph (I crashed). but youll also grow into it. My next step will be either a buell firebolt, aprilia RSV, or RC51

  • ouch. how badly were u hurt?

  • cracked right wrist, hardcore road rash on the hips, i still have scabs on my knees from 4 months ago. almost died, by getting hit by a car (it was a freeway accident). MORE importantly my baby's frame is fine just destroyed the right side of the bike, i got the bike for $2700 used, put about another grand in it to get it going again. if your thinking about getting one; get an '03 or up cause parts are getting hard to find for my K2.

  • yikes. at that speed, sounds like you're lucky to have escaped w/ just a busted wrist. i want a bike, but the falling off and getting messed up part is what's stopping me. then i figured maybe i'll get a small 250cc bike to discourage me from going too fast.. 600cc, and i'll be F'ing around on the highway.

  • if you already own a fast car youll grow out of a 250 real fast, and especially in america where highway is king youll be ringing the neck out of it. take a motorcycle class. try out the bikes you might want. Its all in perspective; I crashed cause it was MotoGP on the streets for me everyday, then that changed.

ride for the ride and not for the race

  • man the same think happend to me untill i crashed in to a car...

and nice sentence: ride for the ride, not for the race...

  • Good advice! Glad you survived.

    Ride.

  • @Ryknfjor you just spoke the words of truth plus thats what made me crash my first bike.

  • don't get a buell unless you get an 1125r, because the firebolt (with 103hp) is slower in 1/4 than the sv650

also the sv is more reliable, sounds better and is a suzuki just get a sv1000

  • thats funny, my best friend owns a 2007 red XB9R the one with 84 hp, I got a 30 ft headstart in a drag against him, and he flew right pass me, also its actually kinda ironic, he put 12000 miles on his' and I only put 9500 and stuff on my bike was falling apart (before the crash)so to sum it up, the buell is better hands down.

  • sv for beginner is perfect
