  • I hope this does not work on ford explorers lol

  • truth be told? I live on Maui, Hawaii. I went surfing yesterday and came back to my truck completely empty. about $400 in snorkeling equiptment, my wallet, cell phone, all of it! Is there a fix for this? And Ford didn't take the ranger off the market. I just bought mine 3 months ago. 2011 ford ranger xlt. if anyone knows a FIX for this, please email me.

    Mahalo

  • @NatureBoyOx Try and find a 2012 Ranger. They don't exist, 2011 was the last year, I know it sucks, I have a 2010.

  • lol everyone is talking about people stealing their trucks. Let me tell you once they are in and see they can't take the vehicle. They will just steal everything else in it that they can

  • have a 98 by the way

  • somebody give me a step to step please because I do that I feel nothing to unlock the door

  • Thank god they did this report, and that someone loaded it onto youtube...I just used the info to break into my own truck after locking the keys in it. It was ten o'clock at night and I was stuck in my office park.

    Seriously...THANK YOU "texasguyonly20"....!!!

  • Lol I Locked my keys in my truck and did this

  • What they didn't mention is that doing this can also break your window. I found this on the net and after locking the keys in the truck tried this only to blow the window out. But I did get into my truck after that and after window was gone was able to successfully pop the lock several times using this trick.

  • It wasn't a problem till you put it on tv dumbass

  • dammmittttt....... im gonna try to fix this.....

  • Fuck

  • Keeping it in my garage from now on...

  • Take this shit down

  • hey!! theres a way to break into the Ford Ranger!! so lets put it on the news -.-

  • i am pissed this sucks and the micro chip key is 80 bucks if you lose it so anyone can get in but knowbody can start it

  • another reason why s10 will always be better lol

  • Ford took care of this already, they're getting rid of the Ranger altogether.lol.

  • @fordtruckman80 very true. Sux because the market exist for the younger people if they were to just redo the interior and create a 4 door version.

  • @texasguyonly20 the ranger is an amazing truck and its sad to see this because i know lots of people with these trucks and yes these trucks are very popular among teens and younger people because they are cheap and there is a high aftermarket support for them and i would love to own a 2005 model

  • Totally just worked for me & I'm a teenage girl lol, just know that it's the hole closet the the bed if the truck not towards the side view mirrors that's why it took me so long

  • Comment removed

  • I just tested this. It works! Now if I lock my keys in the truck, I don't have to break in the other slightly more difficult way through the back sliding door.

  • Shaved the doors and put in a new system the only way it starts is with my finger print nobody is taken my car lol

  • i hate the news

  • why does everybody need to know dumb ass news showing everybody how to break into my truck.

  • that guy would be mexican

  • this shouldave been a secret. cuz now everyone knows how to get in my truck!

  • Thats the news for you, hurting more then helping

  • Just tried it works

  • Simple solution: DONT BUY A FUCKING RANGER

  • and i guess putting it on national television was the first thing they thought to do.

  • shit thank u for letin me knw i jus got my ford ranger a month ago i getin my handle removed

  • haha i used a coat hanger and on the third try got my door unlocked

  • when I bought my 95 ranger, the guy said "If you ever lock yourself out of the truck, just use the screw driver that I left in the bed". then he showed me how and I didn't realize that every ford ranger was made that way...

  • Looks like I'm getting a dodge

  • Yay! I lefdt my keys inside my truck and thanks to this video I just opened it! huuurrayyyy youtube!!!!!!!!! XD

  • All you retards have to do is unscrew your antenna and throw it in the truck or take it in your house. Then when you have to use it again screw it back on. If you dont feel like doing that well better hope somebody around you hasn't seen the video.

  • i have a 2000 ranger!!!

  • this truck isnt the only one easy to break into. any others that have the lock sharing the same plastic with the handle can be knocked out. my brother's 04 ram 2500 got broken into through the plastic lock. and so did the 2000 f250 my dad had.

  • you know what that means. im buying a shortened antenna.

  • Thanks for posting this!!!!... just saved me the cost of hiring a locksmith after locking my keys in my car. Whew!!

  • I hate my stupid fucking ranger. They can recall it. As long as I get my money back!

    Should have bought a half-ton!

  • Amusing. if you have something they want your window will be removed. Door is waste of time.

  • I'd rather they break in that way than smashing a window at least after they loot my ride i don't need new windows.

  • Well, great. I'll be doing a little more investigating. Wait! I don't even have an antenna! Hahahaha

  • my ranger has custom locks on it and lojack or however it's spelled and ohter security features..along with all that i have a hidden camera outside of my house that keeps watch on it and i keep loaded guns hidden throughout my house..feel free to come try to break into mine

  • So thats how Ford saved the money to go without a government bail out.

  • thats why i got an alarm system and after market locks on my ranger :)

  • recall

  • What the hell was the point of this? You just showed thousands of people how to break into a vehicle, you didn't do anyone justice. Ford did it as a safety measure for those dipshits out there who leave their keys in their cars often. But then again, if someone wants in your car bad enough...its called busting out the window.

  • I've um... I got an idea. It's called "theft insurance" and "don't leave anything valuable in your truck". Seriously, guys, carry a backpack or something if you have that many valuable things in your truck. Girls, I'm sure your purse is big enough to carry a few extra cd's or an ipod and a garmin.

  • Thank god! I've broken into my own truck several times this way...

  • well.... shit...

  • fucking retards

  • I love how instead of telling the public "Hey your truck can be broke into very easy" they say "HEY WE CAN SHOW YOU HOW TO BREAK INTO A FORD RANGER" fucking Jack ass's. I swear most news programs do more harm then good when they go and do stuff like this, you dont broadcast to the world HOW to break into a specific kind of car/truck. Any one involved in posting this ALSO DID MORE HARM THEN GOOD! My God people, think before you post shit like this!

  • the news station that broadcasted this is fucking retarded... Instead of showing everyone that watches the news this why not send the video straight to ford so they can recall the trucks and get em' fixed?

  • Wow kid, Way to post this. Dumbass, now people's trucks are going to be stolen. Stupidass

  • well most theives dont realy need that hole in the handle when they can just go tru the window seams ...

  • This news station is retarded

  • i have a 2010 ranger that was just broken into stole everything, no windows broken or nothing ghuess thats how they did it

  • Nobody would want to steal your POS Ford Ranger....

  • wow, yeah hey ford fix the problem, befor the guy next door drunk see this video and takes my truck wow, ur so awsome. next we should show how easy it is to get away with breaking into a bank account or stealing something else from another person.. what morons idea was this now to say hey let show everyone how to jack a ford ranger. the knowlage was great but i think the owners whould have been notified not the public fkn morons.

  • Alert Ford Ranger owners!!!! A thief can get into your truck in a matter of seconds. He can check your handle, and then throw a brick through your window and be in our truck.

  • Hell it's easier just to smash the window.

  • @sssub27

why smash the window when you can just use a slim jim ? ( lock your keys in your car and call a locksmith guess what hes gona use : a small metal peice and go tru window seams and just pop the door open thats it ! )

  • Does this work with older model B series pickups? I have a 92 and that worries the hell outta me.

  • @Prototypexl B Series Pickups didnt share th same platform as the Ranger til 1993. but the only way you can really find out is trying it lol

  • THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. just locked my keys in my car while running and was able to get them out thanks to you!

  • @timlara i locked my keys in mine too just last night and i tried this and couldnt seem to get it to work. mine's a 1996

  • Criminals don't watch the news though so you're good lol

  • what year rangers does this work on will it work on my 1994 ford ranger.

  • Doesnt matter if they break in my ranger or not you cant steal one without the fuckin $80 chip key from the 98 and newer rangers. The news is really fuckin stupid posting this plus this can be done with many other vehicles not just a ford ranger.

  • Lol a mexican owning a tricked out ranger. What a shocker.

  • One day they broke into 4 Rangers at work. Only Rangers nothing else made me think they had a key. They got $2,000 worth of irreplacable music, momentoes and My history. All thing I needed for my night job as a dance teacher. Security was totally useless as always. Maybe they saw this video.

  • i tried it and it works on my 2007 ford ranger sport 4x4

  • so what are we supposed to do. not drive. certanityltyly not in the city.

  • I tried that with my 1990 Ranger and it didn't work........

  • @aflockofmusic2 ist mostly model between 98 and 07

  • didnt know about this. thanks. now if i ever lock the keys in the car its no big deal haha. but now everyone knows how to break into the most worthless truck ever. i own one, i would know.

  • Thank god i got a better pickup...toyota tacoma!

  • thank you news. You informed the public how to execute grand theft auto. i hate society.

  • now a fucking black person or mexican is going to take my car

  • while i completely agree with the mass media's irresponsibility in broadcasting a story like this with such clear "how-to" instructions, and Ford's design issues with the door locks are a joke, it can easily be fixed in about an hour with 2 sheets of Lexan and 4 pop rivets. I used to be able to get into my truck with this method in about 5 seconds, now it takes much longer and i had to make a special tool to do it.

  • 3 seconds my ass

  • @Adamscott71 its true

  • Fucking Mexicans!

  • FUCKING TWEAKERS DID THIS TO ME 3 times this year. FUCK FORD ALREADY! I WROTE TO THEM, BUT NO ANSWER. CALLed, PUT ON HOLD. BOYCOT THE FORD RANGER.

  • what year rangers does this work on? will this work on my 94?

  • I know what Im doing later!!!

  • This wasn't a bad design, it was so if you lock your keys in your truck and gotta get them out. Besides what idiot is going to try and steal a Ford Ranger thats 10 years old? For that kickin' stock radio and tape deck? Get fuckin real.

  • I own a 95 ranger and It's never had that issue, I am a former security officer in Houston texas and I locked my keys in the truck and I had to break into it myself and while i won't actually say how i did it i never used the handle and it didn't work how to do that....

  • F-150 bypass tool

  • Heh... There's another way in that's just as quick and just as easy... Scredriver, pressed against the bottom of the keyhole, strike the back of the screwdriver sharply and, BAM!, the lock is broken loose at an angle and the lock will no longer lock until you replace your lock assembly. I found THAT one out from someone doing a smash-n-grab of about $2k's worth of mobile computing gear that wasn't in plain sight but they picked it out anyhow. Makes my blood boil seeing this.

  • Oh get fucking real. Rangers are not really that much of a hot ticket for car thieves. They're out for BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, etc. I myself have a Ranger, and I can guarantee you that no one will want to break into it unless I leave something valuable in clear sight, which I don't. I doubt someone would even want to break in for the 10 year old Ford stock radio. On the other hand, I am happy that I now know how to get in if I lock my keys in!

  • @SpeCulaTionS101 , you would be surprise. Ford trucks of all years are a hot ticket in Mexico. The Mexicans love them . They are easy to go across the border too. I have a 95 Ranger and I ve been asked over and over if I would sell.( Mexs). And my F350 has been broken in. The dogs scared them away. protect it!

  • lol it took me like 5 mins! How'd he do it so quickly?! =P

  • @chdwckvnstrsslhm Practice! I can do it fast now. I've locked my keys in my ruck so many times...

How about don't leave valuables in your vehicle...then people can't steal your crap.

  • Hahahahhaha glad i know now in case i get locked out.

  • i never lock my door who gonna go in that nasty ass truck..

  • this is crazy I have a ranger and some douche hoodrat stole my gps and $60 Armani cologne the other day. Thieves can suck my left nut

  • thank you for fucking broadcasting this. they didn't have to show how exactly to do it, so now some mentally unstable person is going to steal my truck.

  • @texasguyonly20 : Here's a soloution. Train a monkey to sit sentry with a loaded Remington 870. And if that doesn't work, worse case scenario you're out a worthless monkey and a nice shotgun.

  • @texasguyonly20 haha

  • The point was to caution Ranger owners..

  • @Adrean15 active car thieves don't need info like this. if they want your car/truck, they'll do whatever it takes to steal it.

  • @Adrean15 no shit HUH

  • @Adrean15 yeah exactly. knowing this...i'm now considering never leaving anything in there and buying a club

  • Ive been in the bizz of unlocking vehicles for a few years now. Goes with being a tow truck operator. This is tip of the iceberg. There are easier vehicles to get into then the Ranger... like the Caravan for instance. Sad to say, but most vehicles are 10 seconds or less to bust into.

  • Good thing I shaved my handles

  • DUDE!! This video is a life saver. I'm posting this @ 12:23 am Christmas Day. Who knows how much a locksmith would've charged. It sucks that my Ranger can be broken into so easily, but at least I didn't put a scratch on it to get it unlocked. Took me about 5 mins (it was dark).

  • Chain and padlock, better than factory.

  • Well if the world weren't so corrupt, no one would have to worry about thieves breaking into their trucks.

  • thanks dude

    saved me 40 bucks

and shit that's a fuckup for ford

  • now when i get my sisters old ranger everybody will break into it WTF FORD NICE DESIGN

  • what a great idea, broad cast this over the air waves so every crock and criminal knows how to break into our trucks. The news is made up of a bunch of idiots.

  • My thoughts exactly...

  • why would they freakin report this. it makes no sense. They should be liable for every ford ranger and explorer that is broken into in this methode

  • @86cookiemonster LOL its funny how they seem to be like Ok, Here's how you do it...But don't do it!!

  • @86cookiemonster

I think crooks and criminals already know this trade. At least if they're any type of decent at what they do.

  • im very glad they put this on here, i locked my keys out of my truck tonight and i called a lock smith he said 35 dollars so i went and on on youtube seen this and in 3 mins i was in my truck

  • wat year is ur ranger????

  • just locked my keys in my truck but I do not have an antenna how the fuck do I get in there!? my winder wipers are on haha fuck

  • You can also get a universal power lock opener if it has power locks a a option.

the ignition uses a electronic id, but im sure thieves know a trick around that too.

but the fastest way inside is the analog method of breaking the window out. at least if they break into a ranger you don't have to replace a window, although I heard if you hit the wrong thing in the door of some cars a airbag can deploy

  • Nice, put it on TV so everyone knows.

  • Wow find this completely hilarious I myself own a 03 Ranger Flairside Supercab and not once have i locked the doors when leaving it parked where ever i'm at heck numerous times i've even left the windows down in a mall parking lot for hours on in? People i'm sure a professional car thief right now is'nt saying oh wow i need to hit one of them badazz ford rangers!..yea i don't think so trust me folks u can leave the keys in the ignition running with a sign saying im free & it will still be there!

  • perhaps this is true for people looking only to steal the car for its value, then i would see the piont. a ranger isnt really worth it seeing how there a very common mid size pick-up...but what about the stuff inside your car? if you have a sound system worth stealing, then this is a problem...also some crimnals will steal any car just to have a temporary set of wheels to get somewhere then just ditch the vehicle somewhere.

  • Hey i agree with you completely, but SaGalv if you think ford is going to recall every ranger from the mid 70's til present time and lets not forget the explorers thats never going to happen with todays economy and present american automotive manufactures closing everywhere the resposibility will be left to the owners to resolve this issue plus remember there is NO vehicle out there a 100% protected its up to YOU to remove all valubles from within the cabins interior and as for the vehicle....

  • they still need time to get passed the ignition lock the antenna wont do a thing for that, but dont fool yourself there like MyNewUserName47 ive also been in the automotive bizz for 35+ yrs and a master technican and like the thieves and repo guys and yes mechanics we have master lock pic sets and can start that vehicle in seconds so its like i said theres NO safe vehicle out there just give them nothing to steal by leaving valubles in the interior, Good Luck hope you find a solution

  • well with the 03 ranger (idk what year they started it) they put RFID ignitons in them, meaning even if you pick the igniton you cant drive unless you have the correct key, or the equipent to make the correct code for the ignition. as i said, a sound system worth stealing, your certainly not going t remove your radio when you go out somewhere. and no i dont think they will recall this, becuase it involves someone trying to break in your truck. which is beyond fords control.

  • if it were a saftey problem, or something that cuase the truck to run poorly or not at all then ford would have to recall it, becuase that is there fault. however, i still think it rediculous that its this easy to break in. hopfully they atleast changed it for newer rangers. also, not that it matters, but rangers have been made since 1983....even so, the older 80's rangers, and early 90's rangers didnt have this hole under the handle anyway.

  • @ECCCxMECH

Lol! It's true. I love my ol' faithful Ranger, but let's just say that it's not a looker. If a thief is THAT desperate, we should talk because he needs some serious help.

  • ford will only replace the ignition and cruise switch/harness on vehicles that have a recall on them. that recall does not include all model years that have the defective parts.

  • i wish my ranger had cruise control

  • Umm... I dont know if MynewUserName47 knows that every model of every company known to man has problems.

  • i know they all have problems, i have been in auto repair for over 30 years.

this door lock problem has been around for a very long time, and ford has done nothing to fix it.

the cruise control fire problem is nothing else but stupidity on fords' part. like i said, many manufactures used to use the same type switch, but stopped 40 something years ago. they stopped using them for a reason.

  • Damn it!! From now on, I'm gonna sleep in my 1998 Ford Ranger..... or I'm gonna take all the valuables off the truck...including the battery...

  • this old news, very old.

ford has known about this problem for well over 30 years.

they just don't care about it, or you.

so keep buying easy to break into, catches on fire for no reason fords.

maybe your house fire caused by a ford will be the next one on youtube!!

  • The Ranger hasnt been around that long, None of my Fords has ever caught on fire, And there was a recall, they fixed everything for free

  • sorry, but the Ranger has been around a lot longer than 30 years.

but it wasn't the Ranger you know.

my 1976 Ford Ranger XLT F150 had the very same flaw.

so did the 1975, 1974, 1973 and a few more model years before that.

like i said, its a problem they have known about for over 30 years, they don't care

    about fixing it.

  • Wow, they arnt even based on the same platform, and I know a guy with a Chevy that does the same thing. You know how you fix this, Tighten your antenna down, to the point where people cant get it off, or better yet, fill the holes, Most normal people would expect others to figure this out on their own

  • the platform does not matter, its still a problem they have known about but did nothing to fix.

take the antenna off, it doesn't matter. a skinny screw driver about 5 inches long works just fine.

most normal people would, or should expect know defects to be fixed by the company building the defective product..

  • ford has problems with cruise control fires.

they used a bad designed switch that is a known problem. they refuse to fix it right.

ford has had problems with ignition switch fires for years, they refuse to fix it.

a search for ford fires here on youtube will show the problems with fires ford has.

want to go into the problems ford has with keeping spark plugs in the 4.6?

    how about the 5.4?

    more known problems.

  • Ford will replace the swich for free, or you could spend five minutes and disconnect it. And its not an ignintion swich, its the cruse control module, the ignition swich only has three wires, and a fuse, before it will burn, the fuse will blow, and that wont happen unless you manage to take the key out with the ignition on. only had to change the plugs on my Mustang 1 time, and thats when I installed my turbo. Nobody I know has any problems with their 5.4 either

  • ford will only replace the cruise switch if its leaking brake fluid, other wise they just put in a small add on harness that has a fuse.

the cruise switch in question has power to it all the time. look it up in a wiring diagram.

the ignition switch has more than 3 wires going to it, and it also has power going to it all the time.

  • Nope, they replaced the swich on our F150, and still all you have to do is find the fuse, and pull it. If the ignition switch had power all the time, You could turn the vehicle on by grounding the swich, the battery would be dead also

  • the igniton switch does always have power going to it. how to you think its turns everything on? the car some hows "knows" that you put the key in and starts itself?

  • No, the switch is doesnt have power going to it all the time. Go rip one out and lick it. If you die, then you are right

  • id take 12volts to the tongue any day if it ment I wouldnt be as retarded as you are. instead of arguing with we why dont you look it up, maybe you will learn something, instead of looking like a complete jackass.

  • The when the switch is on, it closed a circut, that starts the vehicle. Untill the circut is complete, there is no power being sent. This is the principal behind hot wiring a vehicle

  • that is true, and i dont disagree, it wouldnt be a switch if it was always sending power to the engine and starter and whatever else. but you said the ignition switch as in the igniton switch assembly doesnt have power going to it all the time, which is wrong, it always has a 12v live wire going to it. though until you turn the key, that 12v potental just sits at the switch and does nothing. but in technical terms, that is considered power going into the switch

  • The wire is dead untill the circut is closed(Turned on) There is nothing that can be done with this wire untill the proper circut is complete, which means its dead, and thusfor, not live. Im going to college to be a physicist, this was all coverd in the refresher courses I took over the summer

  • im sorry but thats a wrong way to look at it. if theres a 12v potential in the wire (or how ever many volts, it doesnt matter where it is) as far as im concerned its a live wire. meaning if a circuit is completed current will flow to ground, be it a motor or your body or what have you. If your working with an electrition and you tell him that a 240v breaker box is "dead" basing on that theres no load connected to it, but theres still 240v present in the box your going to kill him.

  • basically what im saying is your not entirely wrong by saying its not live, being that current is not flowing, however from what ive learned in my 3 years in HVAC school, and current school as an electronics technition, you would NEVER say a wire is not live, or dead, unless you were 100% sure that there was no voltage even present at the wire, weather it was running a load or not.

  • Cruise Control fires.

Faulty Windshield wipers that come on when you turn the blinker on or off. That's not a loose wire either. ABS Sensors that randomly go out, etc.

  • I want To Thank so i can let my brother know about this he owns a ranger and is in that area you showed the news story.

  • wat about old ones????????????

  • That is the most stupid thing they could have done to show that on the news.

  • this video is for YOU to fix that problem! not so everyone knows how to get in your truck! its an easy fix!

  • why would thye tell everyone that this is possible... becauase know everyone is gonna see rangers and take them because they know how easy it is to do this

  • @yamaha4Llfe Dear, people aren't going to take rangers. I've owned my Ranger for 9 years. Never broken into or stolen. And I've been in very questionable areas of my town.

I don't think people get "cool points" for stealing Rangers.

  • @achug05 , They do if you steal a ranger that looks like mine.

  • my buddy and i were up at his cottage and he locked his keys in... his grandpa and dad couldnt figure out what to do and a locksmith wouldnt make the trip so luckily i looked this video up on my phone!

  • At least now nobody is gonna break your window when stealing your stereo... Maybe that's just me, but all cars I've owned so far I could break into when I left my keys inside; and I'm not very talented. Just don't leave anything of value visible in your car, period. Unless you have some expensive vehicle nobody's gonna steal the car itself anyway.

  • thnx for letting everyone know how to jack them faggets

  • i'm glad everyone knows how to break into my truck now...fags

  • WTF...thank you for telling every body how to get into my truck...thank you now theft of these will go up.....those news folks can kiss on my ass

  • Ha, sweet. I locked my keys in my ranger and got them out this way.

  • lets be real. who wants to rob a ranger
