This an example of a textbook phsycological experiment, yes it was designed by a doctor to show how the nazi's were able to do what they did. some people do and some people don't!
Such experiment may in some instance explain behavior of the Nazi army and why did most of the soldiers blindly obey to perform acts commonly considered atrocities.
The experiment would have been even more succesfull if the questioner had be convinced of somekind of guilt of the questioned, like say rape or murder, that would come closer to the parallel of the Nazi soldier since he was convinced by authorities that the Jews where a negative form of life.
I would probably obey of course, if i was told that the government was siding this experiment and the questioned was a nazi or lets say a child molester or a raper i could probably go ahead and give him the shocks...i understand that, that is the point.
The point is also that you wouldn't really know until you are put in such situation.
