it's slap tonguing. you tongue and at the same time pull your mouth away. not sure how hard you have to tongue, as i'm not a sax player. but jeff coffin explained it to us at a clinic he gave my jazz band
it most likely is a cannonball. next to the mark vi and the super action 80 it's one of the best jazz saxophones there is. lol but for classical ehh not the best.
Could they not hire better sax players? those are your words. and i say stupid things? it looks like you had a spasm while trying to type "careers." and if this knowledge is as easy to access as you say it is, why don't you know any of it? another thing you need to work on, relaying your thoughts to words. "reciting peoples carrears and never understanding i never said anything about there carrears i said gordon didnt play well" what the hell?
wow. You guys need to stop hating on the masters. Everybody on this stage is ridiculously experienced and can do things you cant imagine. Shut up and go practice.
are you kidding me!?! better sax players!?! Eric Marienthal (best sax player in the world), Brian Scanlon (toured with Doc Severinson, played LEAD alto in Buddy Rich's band, and was in the NBC orchestra) Jay Mason (featured soloist in the North American Saxophone Alliance national convention), Sal Lozano has recorded with include Christina Aguilera, Will Smith, Mandy Moore, Stevie
Wonder,Jessica Simpson, Joey DeFrancesco, and Maynard
Ferguson!) So learn your facts before you say stupid things
i said that the bass drum is supposed to be lightly felt, not heard in an older post. Since you responded to it, I can only assume that you read it. Therefore, my post is coherent as fuck.
If I had made that comment without even reading your first post, 1. I'd be lucky that I made a your mom joke that you walked right into without reading the comment, and 2. I'd be being an immature douchebag for no reason. I'm not saying I'm not being immature but I have a good reason for it. If you could read, you'd figure out that I was referring to your 2nd post, about the fist and your elbow, and how it made no sense, and I stand by it.
This cat is Gordon Goodwin, an outstanding tenor player. His songs are full of such intensity, and he started it off with lots of energy and him and the drummer were just feedin' off each other!! Then he took it down a notch and played a nice creative solo. Guess it's all preference.
Dan Fornero plays 1st in this chart actually.

hawleywe 2 years ago
@hawleywe i agree! he usually plays full out! i usually hear him being more on the louder side than the almighty craig ware! maybe he was tired?

and by the way, i had to do a report on Gordon Goodwins Big Band, so yeah the copying and pasting theory isn't working for you. Nice try though!

This comment has received too many negative votes show

W/e doesnt matter because he is writing for movies and you are critiquing him from youtube. Do yourself a favor and go practice

Guys thats Gordon Goodwin, piano is his main instrument.......they have an amazing sax section, never judge a player till u see em live and know them
OjAiSaXpLaYeR 3 years ago
Tenor sax is actually his main...he just plays piano in the band :) he has one hell of a PHAT sound...makes me jealous.
