Very well trained and good looking beagle. Congratulations! Usually people tend to feed them excessively and they become obese (having such an insatiable appetite).
I think BEAGLES and SIBERIAN HUSKIES are one of the best breeds in the world. I have a two year old siberian husky. This saturday i'm getting a female beagle pup. I'm so excited.
That is not a puppy, that beagle is the size of my 6 year old. I do give him kudos for listening, I would a jumped the fence years ago if I had to listen to that stupid voice a minute longer!
I'm getting a beagle and it's going to be my first dog so I was wondering if you could possibly give me some tips and hints as to how to train them? Also if you recommend any toys specifically?
@msxblackxvelvetx Start early, don't give up easily, and reward, reward, reward. Food will work best, but beagles have a tendency to get obese if not exercised lots, so make time for that or use some low cal treat to train. I've taken mine to agility, got laughed at by all the sheepdog owners, but still made good progress - so haha. Sign up for classes, and talk to the instructor as much as you can. It was time and money well spent.
What a GOOD boy! for sure! You can tell you did a lot of work with him! We had a beagle who was almost 16 years old when he died. Our family was CRUSHED! There's no better family pet! They're so loyal, and lovable and stoic! haha
My family is convincing my dad to get a dog. This could be tough. My dad likes dogs, but he thinks it takes too much work, but I think I'm responsible enough to handle it. And knowing my dad, if I ask him, he'll be like haha let me think about it... NO
i have a beagle myself, he's about 12 right now. Your dog is sooo calm when there are treats around. we cant get my dog to relax worth anything when it comes to treats. he does the tricks right and everything but is just so excited and barks like crazy if we take too long lol. and i love how the beagle's sit on the side of their leg when they are relaxed. i laugh every time i see my dog sitting. I think it's the cutest thing.
Rednecks are funny lil things huh, so ignorant and oblivius to the world around them, they are quicky becoming exticnt and I would like to start the first redneck nature preserve, well take all the sharp things away and round over all the cornors so they don't hurt themselves, then well set up safari tours to generate some money, well have vending machines that dispense chewing tabbacky.
just got a beagle, never worked with them, but worked and trained, irish setter, english cocker spaniel. hounds are very smart dogs but as far as the beagle is said that they have a mind on their own. how different are they form cocker spaniels and irish setters? (trainingwise)
i say it to chinks all the time and i would say it to this biatch in the face! i would also get my ruger and put a round right between the biatchs eyes, muthafucker!
so how come Iwe've never heard of you? unless I;ve missed something on the news I dont recall some angry redneck hunting down asians, or a mass of asian being shot in between the eyes
just making a suggestion, but when you ask him to stay, you should only have to say it once and if he does start coming to you without you calling him, you should not say "No!"... RIGHT when he gets his butt of the ground you should say "come!" and then praise him for coming. then go back to practicing "Stay" again. Also another thing is that dogs lose interest with things like this after a little bit. so a good thing would be to do a little training but then play for a while after.
Only his regular dog food - eukanuba lamb. He isn't fussy about food as long as you reward him. Sometimes he trains well if I reward him with his toy too. But dog food works best.
You'll probably restrict his access to hard surface only at first. As you allow him further into your house, move his crate or blanket further into the house so it is clearly a "den" area. We thought our dog wasn trained to go outside - but actually he just understood (not in the kitchen!) and thought hte house was ok!!
actually you dont need to teach a beagle fetch, its in their blood (they are hunters by nature)..my beagle always did it without having to teach her at 8 weeks, now your stay is not being done properly..you should only say it once..
roll over is fun for show but it i dont see the point of it.
if the dog is in a tactical situation, where it is getting shot at, the dog needs to be able to roll over to dodge bullets. i hope you find this response funny.
maybe not all dogs have it in them, but mine is pure bred and you can see so many characteristics and things she does just by instinc its somethin thats been in their blood for many generations..
my dog knows english and greek =) but she is very fat and now she is pregnet so she cant move as much =( but idk y she sits on one side when she was pregnet and b4
It takes alot of time and repetition with them. They are working dogs, so they love to please. Yea, my beagle died to being overweight and after awhile gained many different things that harmed her life due to her obesity. I loved that Beagle so much, best dog EVER. I just wish my parents and mabye myself =p, wouldn't have gave her so much ppl food and scraps...RIP Maggie Mae Miss ya girl =/
Hello, my husband and i sre looking to get a pup and we have concidered a beagle. We have a18 month old and another baby on the way. We have got many diffrent opinion about this choice of breed to bring into our home. Are beagles really that hard to train and hard headed? Ive even been told that around children the age of mine, its not a good idea.
I'm glad you asked. A beagle puppy is extremely adorable and fun, but can be a handful as this breed seems to have a mind of it's own. In fact, it can get destructive if left alone at home.
Thus, with your new baby on the way, I would think that it's best that you put off your plans on getting a beagle for the next few years, until your kids have grown up a little. Beagles are great with kids, and I'm sure your children will have great fun with them!

lol i have a beagle, they are extremely hard to train because they always want to smell everything -_- a bit stubborn, but mine knows how to sit, shake, and lay down, i love beagles!
Yeah, just have to take it in small increments, while you have their attention. It wasn't hard to train our beagle. Of course it helps to have really good bait.
I agree! My beagle puppy wouldn't listen to me for anything, not any kind of treat or toy, but then I found CHICKEN! lol since then she won't take her eyes off the chicken and she does everything asked! :)
to me it was repetition. for example.. to teach my daisy to shake my hand.. i knelt down to her level. and said 'paw' and when i said that i took her paw with my left hand and placed her paw on my right hand. everytime i did that, i gave her a treat. i did this for like 30 mins.. next thing i know, i said 'paw'.. and she'd put her paw on my hand. and she gets the treat.
When the video starts it looks like the dog is saying ok like if you get it

lol i have a beagle, they are extremely hard to train because they always want to smell everything -_- a bit stubborn, but mine knows how to sit, shake, and lay down, i love beagles!
