Think of it this way: when you speak, your words proceed from your mouth and declare who you are and therefore, are YOU. Since Jesus IS the Word of God He IS therefore, GOD Himself. @ahbhacha After his resurrection Jesus said all power was given unto HIM. And after He appeared unto the disciples when Thomas was also there, Thomas called him "My Lord, My God". Jesus did not correct him. Also, in the first chapter of Saint John, it says the Word was God (1st verse) and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (verse 14). It could only have been speaking of Jesus.
