  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • You can begin a whole new song with the sound you hear at 1.58. It's so beautiful.

  • I really can't bear to listen to this song without crying

  • Coisa linda !

  • utter perfection

  • This song isn't long enough. That's the only bad thing about it.

  • Wake up, my love!

  • amazing

  • When i listen to this song i just think: "It's so crazy how music can change your whole life!"

  • Beautiful. Truly beautiful.

  • This song made me cry. I heard a storey that the reason for this song is that a friend of his went out on the town. His friend got beaten up because he was gay, he never made it through. I'm not sure if its true but at least its in honer of his friend.

"During the recording of An End Has A Start, frontman Tom Smith lost a much-loved grandparent and heard that a buddy of his had been murdered in a homophobic attack. He responded by penning this song. He told the Mail on February 10, 2008: "It shocked me how senseless death can be. I didn't want to go out after that. What's the point when there are people like that around? But the record isn't just about death and I'm not angst-ridden the whole time."

  • grande gruppo grande canzone

  • Wow....

  • The fact that Tom Smith has put so much feeling and emotion into writing this song is what is amazing. He has actually wrote about something real and what happens, instead of all this bullshit you here on the radio. I am glad that this song isn't played on the radio, because it makes it all the more special.

  • @MissBethCullen i heard this on the radio once, a few years ago, zane lowe i think it was played it, never heard it again since.

  • There used to be an interview on youtube where the meaning of this song was explained but it's been removed. In a few words: an old friend of the singer was murdered and he wrote about that whole feeling of losing faith in humanity and not seeing the point of going out of your house when there's people like that out there.

  • what an amazing, amazing, amazing song!

  • I have often wondered, if he wrote this about his Dad.

    Parting is such sweet sorrow.

  • the melodie at the beginning, from which song is it ? first 15 sec. ? pls

  • @elmatze20066002 I think Lanny Kravitz's I'll be waiting

  • too much wanking lads

  • @spinalCJ i have a lovely wife for that. gives me time to appreciate the beauty of musical talent.

  • 1) it was a joke 2) it wasn't aimed at you, so your reply is ridiculous.

  • Wow...The last line always makes me cry. It's crazy how much emotion there is in his voice...Such an amazing song.

  • Beautiful and tragic. Thank you Editors for being what you are.

  • I adore this. this is the only song my dear mum likes by them because it's so moving :)

  • some songs can touch you deep in places u didn't know you could feel. this song brings up all my painful and emotional experiences.

  • @MrJMANGO

for me this song brings up a memory I had in Japan. I remember it like yesterday. Everytime I hear this song I remember the moment. It was when I said goodbye to a friend, and I assured her that we will meet again. IT has a goodbye tone to it, and a new beginnings mood in it. I wish more people could take music and tie it into how it makes them feel rather then superficially listening to the lyrics and simply saying "reminds me of a suicide note." there is more to music. thank you

  • I don't want to go out on my own anymore

I cant face the night like I used to before

  • There's so much emotion in the way his voice almost breaks at 2:23... Its heartbreakingly sad, and beautiful <3

  • What a beautiful song.

  • it's so sad that his friend was murdered! People like the ones who killed him suck!

  • When this I clicked on this song while looking up Editors songs and waited for it to load I thought 'it's not not very a long song' but when I listened to it I'm glad it wasn't it was so beautiful and heartbreaking I nearly cried! Any longer and it would have been unbearable (because it's so sad and awesome.)

  • I'm not mentally handicapped, but thanks for worrying. I don't normally cry at songs but I can relate to this personally.

  • Quality!

  • i know i bought the album and this is the last song on it and when he sing 'im so sorry' it cuts deep :) superb song, a gem

  • @Cammie1999

blah blah blah, it just rocks your heart out!!! Less words, more feelings. You must to understand this song on your own. It's impossible to describe feelings when you are listening of this song.

  • Saddest song and yes its to do with being ''Gay or Bysexual'' If You listen to words its to do with a friend or someone he knows getting beaten. Which can be seen bad and good in many ways but for being killed over it is a bit much, and makes me cry a litte.

  • is it reli about that? how do you know?

  • whats good about being beaten?

  • love it

  • I'm in love with this song <3

  • nah not youtube, buronias just a bit of a douche. awesome band and awesome song

  • I agree, he never said anything wrong. He stated that he believed. Not confirming it. YouTube is becoming so fussy about anything anyone says.

  • I believe this song was written about a friend of his who was beaten to death for being gay.

  • you believe...friend of HIS...did you ever been at school? sorry..

  • What has he said wrong?

  • If this is in response to my comment, I'm not sure what your problem is. I read that a friend of the lead singer's was a victim of a hate crime and this song was written in his honor. I think the song is as beautiful as it is sad. I also believe it is important to know what would inspire such a song so that one may see the affects that bigotry and hate can cause.

  • That was in response to "Burronia" not "Sattfield."

  • Any problem, just noticed that you have wrote some wrong words...just for laughing..sorry again..

  • what the fuck are you complaining about, burronia? "did you ever been at school?"

go learn some freaking english before you try to correct others. and no, burronia did not make any mistake

  • Oh man. That is gorgeous.

  • Damn beautiful song!!

  • What a song and what a story! I'm lucky enough to have gone to the same school as tom what a legend.

  • Perfecta.

  • It's one of the most depressing songs ever made,IMHO next only to "Dial:revenge" by Mogwai.Tom sounds like somethin is ripping him apart...What a song, what a band....They are the only ones that can be compared to Joy Division when it comes to the sheer level of feelings expressed in their songs, even Interpol doesn't come that close,to the expression of Tom's voice (don't get me wrong,Paul Banks is absolutely amazing).

Today i've heard some bad news...

  • Pure perfection, what a song

  • Mmm chills! so amazinggg

  • i love this song

best of the album i think

  • His voice kinda reminds me of the lead singer of joy division. (I know, its shameful i forgot his name)

  • Ian Curtis!

A lot of people say that, and when you hear this, it's absolutely right! (and that's nothing to be ashamed of, Curtis had an amazing voice)

  • Man the first time i listened to this song i felt like i know the lead singer in real life. I really would like to know is he a miserable person. I want to know all the bad things he de with in his past. I feel really sorry for him. Seeing this bad live i have to in the future.

  • The story is that this song is about a friend of him who went away from house and got beaten to death by a bunch of guys... really sad, and he thought: Why?

  • it's the best song of editors

  • This would fit perfect for The Road movie.

  • this is totally an opposite of their new coming album (january) that's al about living things..

    about life nowadays ,,

the editors are great.. their performances are also great.

this song is definitely a great outro for their album (an end has an start).

btw.. it's EDITORS :P not THE EDITORS

    xD

  • new album?????, tell me

    great song btw

  • not bad actually!

  • great, makes you wanna lock your room door and listen this song till the very end.

  • No wonder hes never played this song live :(

    unique .

Now tell me EDITORS are not one of the greatest Lyricists. ! As well as being great performers!! :D

i mean i love razorlight but...

*I go out somwhere then i come home again*

    From America

And pick any from EDITORS lol. i may be wrog just my point of veiw =]

  • :'( its good for a funeral

  • Heartrending. Just amazing!

  • Beautifuk song, great album

  • don't you mean "Beauty Fuck?"

  • just letter mistake:D

  • amazing!!

  • This song is just amasing =")

  • its such a lovely song
