I've been around YouTube for a while, posting comments on various right-to-die/suicide topic videos. So, I figured that I'd post a comment here as well. I am an avid right-to-die supporter, and I absolutely love the Final Exit Network and its caring, compassionate board members. The right-to-die is such an important right, which FEN wonderfully contributes to, by its support not only of the issue itself, but also by its support of the members. The Final Exit Network is awesome support.

having your hands held down and a bag of helium over your head sounds like homicide. If you are about to die then why not let God take it naturally. Anyone at that age must have a high pain tolerance anyway. And when someone is dying they probably aren't making the same decisions they usually would make. People having migraines wish to die but when its over they are fine again.
People don't get their hands held down. Their hands get held as compassion, which is by request of the dying person. It isn't forced. Having to take morphine and fentanyl in order to cope with life, being drugged up, not able to function, passing out often, etc, seems much less dignified than taking helium in order to die peacefully, rather than to live suffering.

That is total BS. Trust me I am a nurse and have seen suffering of all ages, pain is individualized. I am 46 and have had migraines since age 10. Right now I am on day 14 of one. Took all the medicine doctors prescribe, now my insurance will not buy the medicine I just don't you want you to lump pain by ages

It's hard to imagine suffering so bad a person would want a quick death unless the only alternative was a slow painful one. Doctors usually won't help patients in agony to die, even when there is no hope of cure. Until the medical profession wakes up I am thankful for the courage and compassion of Final Exit Network volunteers.

I recently tried to exit using the helium method. I couldn't stand it and
yanked the bag off. The gas was NOT 'innocuous and odorless' as the
Humphrys/Final Exit crowd had led me to believe. It felt like inhaling
poison gas. Made me nauseous, headachey, and there was a terrifying feeling
of falling through space. Now I am suffering, not from fear of death, but
from fear of the ways of getting there.
