bad ass sled . i used to race them i bought one in 07 and i raced it for the season and never had any problems i even took home a victory in the open 500 class . these are very good sleds better then polaris / skidoo / arctic cat . i sold mine a an apex 800 triple and i also got a 1997sx 600 twin (turbocharged) and i got a 95 VMax 800 Triple yamaha makes the best sled hands down

yea I haven't had many problems with mine. but the rear suspension is one of the weaker points. just put a nytro coilover unit in the front of the skid and that makes a big difference. cheaper than buying a new one if the power is enough for you.

my comment was a reply to the debate on the 2stroke 4 stroke feud.And i fail to see were my reliability on power sports was in question.2 and 4 stroke engines you cant even put them in the same category due to INSANE performance differences.how the power on a 4stroke comes on strong and how the 2stroke needs more revs to produce it....it's a countless debate that has no victor....and i think the rmk has one of the best power to weight ratio's of all time,of all time!!!!

for sure. it was a fun sled. easy to throw around and was still quick enough on the trails. not meant for open lakes, but i don't need to go 100+ anyway. only complaint was the crappy rear suspension. sagged within 100 miles and yamaha would do nothing to fix it. at my time of trade in, there was nothing out there to replace the torsion springs. ended up going with an '09 800 dragon switchback. i do miss that 4stroke sound tho.

Phazers do alright for moderate off trail but get into mountains or hillclimbs in the fluffy stuff and the 80hp motor sorta runs out of beans, particularly if the rider is 200+.

My Genesis 150 with a few tricks up it's sleeve(no blower/studs) owns...pretty much everything. 700 triple? Please. Studded F8? Close off the line, but after about 50 it was done. Race REV with a 600 race motor? Still no.

All the 4s whiners are just tired of getting their ass handed to them by 4s torque.

Your a newbie rider to think the phazer is any kind of mountain sled. If it had 150hp then it would be an awesome sled, but 80 just doesn't cut it for a mountain sled.

If you buy a phazer, then you must turbo it or supercharge it to be any good on the mountain.

I own several polaris 2 cycles, that said, 4 cycles in sleds have come a long way, you cannot beat the power lots of these 4 strokes are bringing.

2 cycle can have a power/cc advantage, unless you count broad torque curves vs. narrow powerbands, and less smell/noise.

Which is going to be the wave of the future.

Polaris has good sleds, but these yamaha 4's are darn sexy. RX-1, Apex and phazer rock my sox.
