Wow they have so many different sirens !!! In germany they have only one. Can you explaine, which types there are and for what ? That would be cool.

they don't really mean anything, but they use a variation to alert people more, especially entering intersections

it was a drill, they do this at least once a week. mostly so the rookies can find their way around manhattan when it is crowded

It is a surge drill nothing bad happened it is just a drill in case something like 9-11 were to happen they would be better prepared.

Yes... lucky to see any police on the streets here let alone 30 or more cars hehe
(OK it's not that bad), but I was surprised just how many and how highly visible the NYPD are.
