  • there is a nursing shortage because of the stereotype about gay male nurse

if there were more male nurses there would be no shortage

  • What about making some budget cuts with some of the administration that makes over 80,000/year. Hire more nurses. The hospital will spend a lot of money to hire a specialist/MD. However, nurses are under paid and overlooked.

  • mm mmmm

  • Enough of hospital policy and procedures that try to dictate the practice of nursing. As nurses we are practitioners of the art and science of NURSING! Not "employees" of the hospital to be brushed aside with the attitude of "be happy you have a job."

  • Come on people. Let's stop ignoring the real issues. Nursing can be a rewarding fulfilling career.

That being said, I for one didn't sign up to do it for free. In other words, pay me. Pay me a wage that reflects the tremendous responsibility I have. Pay me for the knowledge and experience that I bring.

Enough of administration's lame excuses for shrinking benefits and ever shrinking pay scales and raises.

Enough of outrageous sign on bonuses for

  • Hollywood does not help the situation either

most peoples perspective of the Nurse comes from media images. Pretty young nurse (no brains),falling head over heels for Dr. Instead of the Male/Female Nurse, with knowlege learned from college that has to be retained and used every second of every 12-16hr shift, every work day.

  • don't worry! ill be working there soon!

  • nurses do 99% of the work........12 hour shifts with NO lunch, NO breaks, NO going to the bathroom. SLAVE LABOR.

  • hopefully i do not end up like that

  • you're scaring the sh** out of me Thundergold8!!!...don't sound that exciting anymore...and I just got into the program :-(

  • Nurses do most of the work, don't they...?

  • Contrary to what is so often depicted on TV, yes, nurses provide just about all of the care, administer almost all of the medical treatment and coordinate most of the rest of the medical process for patients. It's a difficult job to do well and when it is done well it is often not recognized. I find that the intrinsic reward for doing it well often counterbalances the misinterpretations of the nursing role by the public.
