Saw them in Montreal last week. Show was fabulous, First Part was the hi-lite for me. I was in a trance watching them from about 40 feet away. Brilliant band!
in deciding to first hear MBV I read a interview were Stephan Malkmus said that he hated the popular MBV release LOVELESS And to check out the better Isnt anything album that it s way better so i did and now im fucking hooked to that album 90s INDIE ROCK FOrever!!!
ahh man i remember back in the day when this tune came out and there was no internet and it took me a 100 mile trip to the nearest record shop to find it.
You are gonna LOVE them my friend...(one of the best REAL indie-rock bands EVER!!!) Check out PAVEMENT too, if you have'nt already...(especially there earlier stuff!)
I gave you a thumbs up to counter the two negatives...this is a great song *and* it does sound a little like Sonic Youth...why they hatin' on the truth?
Lollapalooza 95, Walnut Creek Ampitheatre, 2nd Stage, This song opened Superchunks set and it rocked so fucking hard with such genuine emotion, I literally had tears in my eyes. Its just one of those "go-to" memories of brilliance personified. When indie rock was actually "indie" and it actually "rocked". Bless you guys for all you've done. Play DC more please. Mary timony is here. Bob Mould is here. Revive INDIE!!!!!!!!!!
I just now got back from seeing them at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn. They still got it. If I had a nickel for every time I watched this video in high school I'd be a gazillionaire. Thanks for the post!
Yea they still play. I caught a show with Mac and Jon about a month ago in Greensboro, NC with about 30 other people. They were playing with Mac's log time side project "Portastatic" they freakin' rock too. Check em out.
unfortunately I live in Greece my friend, so north Carolina is far too far for me... but thanks anyway, I am happy that they are around until now...I think "portastatic"'s first record is "I hope your heart is not brittle" in 1995-6, am i right?

i cant believe in all this indie rock talk, Hu:sker Du: hasnt come up! 'Zen Aracade' and 'Candy Apple Gray' are the indie Rock sanskrit.
Also 'Surfer Rosa' by the Pixies, 'You're Living All Over Me' by Dinosaur, and 'Green' by REM are great punk rock masterpieces.

What a wonderful group of the 90's...and they never came to greece to see them live just for once!
Does anybody know if they are still playing around?
Anyway Jim, Mac, Laura and Jon we love you here in greece (even though we are just a bunch of people...)
