If you were trying to replicate their sound, they only use the kaoss pad 2 for songs from "Take to the Skies". The new kaoss pad is used for some sampling stuff and for some effects like that "climbing" sound in one of their other new songs, The Jester.

The EMX is a given, i'm just going to get a microkorg instead of the Radius. cheaper, right? and hold off on the kaoss pads till after i get familiar with the other gear. i'm excited about these machines!!!

hmmmm id get the korg R3.. its a lot better than the microkorg. its abit more expensive but def worth it. with the software you can get with it you can load on radias presets too. its a better synth in general... i advise the R3

mate, before you go and spend money on all their gear, id consider looking at ableton live, which is amazing d.j software, plus its a sampler, a mixer, and has virtual kaoss pads. i use that and an emx, and i do full d.j sets, and play with a live drum and bass band just using those 2.

ableton feels a little cheesey after abit... i have the same setup as rou's at the moment... kp2 emx r3... all u need is ther... then get money for a radias and ur sorted. ableton has a messy library tht u have to flick thru constantly and you have to fork out for more shit like controllers and midi devices which in the end is pointless and messy. esx is a great sampler and has the same eas to use as emx right at ur fingertips. korg r3.. well... its an orgasm in a box reli...
