OK, I can see that now - I'll take your word for it, but something seems abit strange. Of course this could just be an optical illusion - it is difficult to tell with reflections of endless repeating patterns. I guess it would become more clear if you had objects placed around the centre scene that would reflect off the centre balls.
I am sorry, but you are wrong. If that would be the case then you would not see anything reflected which is further away than the center of a ball. But look at the yellow ball, when the green is in the back and the blue and red are in front, the green is still reflected at the bottom of the yellow, so obviously it is not tracing the surface normal.
The reflections on the balls aren't right - they do not seem to be taking into account the angle of the camera - it looks like they are just tracing in the direction of the surface normal (an are therefore constant & independent of the camera view angle) .
It would be clear enough if you would move your eye to the reflected bottom where it's good to see
