  • that sho is mean.

  • that sho is mean.

  • those SHO's are pretty quick...especially the new ones... The ultimate V6 bad ass award would definitely have to go to the Buick Grand National though..

  • SHO > CTS

  • Ford power baby!

  • @zestydude87 Yamaha actually.

  • Liters of displacement dummies...@the max that sho was displacing about 5.7l with the um.."BOOST" as you guys call it..

  • Well, I'm liking your stuff a helluva lot better than the loudmouth with the CTS-V "first ever rmt mt turbo." You do your own wrenching?

388hp in a relatively lightweight chassis like the SHO, the thing must absolutely fly.

How's it do in the 1/4? I bet you give the ricer kids a tough time...

  • I really do hope that everyone realizes the "04 CTS-V's only had 325RWHP, but it has 400HP at the crank........ if your racing a medium weight turbocharged 388WHP car against a heavy weight N/A 325WHP car... who do u think is going to win? Don't get me wrong, i am an all GM guy and i absolutely despise fords, but that SHO is fast...

  • It all comes down to one simple fact. The SHO was running boost and CTS was not. Therefore the CTS will still lose because he has no boost. Now let's take into account this. Put that SHO up against a 2010/11 CTS-V and we'll see how good it really is. As far as the SHO in this vid I'm not impressed until you actually challenge a car with clout.

  • im all about ford but i wouldnt be caught dead in a SHO.....unless its the 2011 SHO

  • try geting any girls in a early 90s 4 banger hahaha

    cts v is just sexy

  • @jerseygohardMF Read up. The SHO was never a four-cylinder. If the woman you're attracting is interested in you because of the car, well, you're welcome to her and good luck to you. If, on the other hand, she is attracted to you because she's interested in the mods and appreciates the skill required to do the mods, then you've found a keeper.

  • CTS-V....5.7.......SHO 3.0.....Not much more needs to be said, the SHO is badass.. The SHO beat the CTS-V. If you have never driven a SHO shut up you dont know what your talking about, they are fast so is the CTS-V but in this case point proven the SHO kicked ass period....Everybody can like what they like whatever....But the SHO still kicked ass....just sayin... Oh and at one point I owned an SHO with 535hp and it only took about $4500-$5000 in mods and a few parts I had from projects before

  • @95yamahasho Read my comment that is newest to this video then read this one. Also if you dumped the same amount into the CTS in this video, the SHO would not have stood an ice mans chance in hell of winning. Stock CTS vs. stock SHO the SHO would lose. Boost both em with the same amoung of dough and the SHO would still lose. This was by no means a fair race. Claim whatever you want about past projects but you don't own the car now, so unless you have video evidence, there is no proof.

  • they sold caddy and kept lincoln as its luxury brand. they both were like the suv of the 1900's. you can have an mks with 650+hp. why not? yayaya i know they have the 3.5 eco and you may ask why so greedy but, they should do it now while they are on top.

  • thats how it should be with the new sho against the v's. or they should put a 302 in an mks with twins in it. they would sell as many mks' as v's. that would be fords luxury super sedan. if not a sho, then an MKS "BOSS 302 TT". then we wouldnt here that duche on auto weekly on the hd network dis ford and lick the balls of all the hybrids and gm. this is always fords prob. its like they wait for gm to pass'em by with power, another thing...caddy use to be owned by ford and sold them in 1904.

  • Rock on SHO. Rock on.

  • Love that SHO!!!!

  • that cts-v t if stock is putting down about 333whp with about 3700lbs (without driver), the sho has 388WHP and is lighter... vid seem about right... I own a 05 cts-v single turbo (6psi due to high ass eng comp)... I love it! but I have to say, nice SHO man!...

  • @tilligetbig - Thanks, it was a fun car. Now it is scrap metal.

  • cts needs a better driver

  • Is this in Tulsa? Looks like hwy 169. I'm surprised I haven't seen it around!

  • @shellshock940T - Tulsa? No, this was filmed in Mexico.

  • That Cadillac just got SHOed how it's done.

  • win or lose the cts-v shits all over your little taurus in every aspect other than speed

  • Comment removed

  • i agree you can get more ass with any other nice car then the SHO......but i do give the SHO props for trying. they can get it on if you know what your doing but im more of a corvette and stang person

  • Put a turbo on the caddi, then see who's laughing

  • @Carfreak1177 - The new ones are supercharged, I am still faster.

  • god that SHO is a pile of trash. sounds like shit too.

  • go ford no bail out

  • @Mking0072121 I was on a anti-Ford kick @ the time....I bought the V and have had almost every Stang in the area try and pounce on my grocery getter......We don't have a 1/4 track close but I did pull a 8.04 in my 4,000# shoddy LS6 Caddy a cpl nights ago. The fastest Mustang there was an 04 Cobra and he ran a 8.35, all I have is a CAI and muffler delete.

  • 388hp compared to 400hp comes down to weight of the car. I'm sure the SHO was lighter. You can't say anything about drivers because you didn't hear/notice any late shifting, etc. The Caddy is still a nice car.

  • given the SHO is a fast car...I have a 04 CTS-V and it's a far superior car than any FORD i've crossed paths with, i embarassed a 04 COBRA today...I did have a Probe GT years ago with a turbo...fast but junk

  • @ddollaholla

and what would you happen to have done??? a shoddy 5.7 up against a 32v dohc S/C cobra, even if he wasnt a good driver he still prolly woulda won. deuces

  • Nice 1st gen. You should see mine.

  • the V has more horse power in the motor but dosent put to the ground what you do! and the power to weight ratio a HUGE gap!! all in all you have a nice SHO. also for all you haters out there, it dosent matter how you win or what your driving. you WIN you fuckin WIN!!!

  • its just the difference between a stock car and an extreamly modified car 90% of the time the stock car will lose. my 2.8 s10 beats the new 4cyls even tho they have more hp then me and sometimes even 4.3s because i have put some work into my truck

  • I've never heard of a SHO. who makes SHO

    That CTSV is bad ass

  • its a Ford Taurus

  • @untouchablewealth its a ford taurus and ford asked yamaha for help with the engine so its got a bit of "umph" to it.

  • No matter how hard some1 drivin a SHO tries, he'll never get as much ass as a guy in a CTS....hands down, besides a cts is probably one of the sexiest cars every made and the 04' cts-v's had the garbage 5.7L, and 06' with a 6.0L would have madea better race

  • Getting ass in a CTS? Most CTS owners are so old they can't even get it up anymore. It's pretty sad if you need a car to get you laid.

  • hahah ya it's sad if you need a car to get you laid true that.

but this is also comming from a cadillac owner don't know if my car had anything to do with my sex life lol

  • @BeerBrewin man thanks for defending against all these haters, Guys SHO's are a testament to ford and more namely Yamaha's achievements, the engine was originally drawn up to power the GN34 protoype by ford,

  • @BeerBrewin LOL! Thumbs up for you!

  • @fancylikethat said like a true 10 year old :)

  • @fancylikethat sexiest car ever made ? lolll yea ok far from it

  • @fancylikethat What?? LOL...the CTS is damm ugly...as well as the CTS-V....you need glasses kid.

  • @earnhardtfanthree LOL...Can't afford one, huh kid? Demonize what you can't have because everyone knows that the CTS-V is a beautiful car. LOL

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE At 48 making pretty clsoe to 34 grand a year I think I can afford one, I will not , however purchase an ugly vehicle. Beautiful drivetrain or not. You can put that one in the bank.

  • @earnhardtfanthree Hey, just messing with you and nothing personal. We all like what we like. I, along with lots of others think the V is a sweet looking ride. And that's with or without the elaborate drivetrain.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Oh OK, Well it's all good ya nut...LOL....take care friend.

  • @fancylikethat ok first of all FUCK U!!!!!!!!!! 5.7 garbage?????? ur fucking idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!! u dont know what the hell ur talkin about!!!!!!! that 5.7 ls1 is probably gona go down as one of gm's best motors ever!!!!!!!! DUMB BITCH!!!!!!!! go jack off cuase u probably cant get laid!!!!!!

  • @fancylikethat Garbage 5.7? They have the same peak hp and tq #s. The 6.0 has a flatter curve, but that's it. My LS6 powered V would match an LS2 powered V. Again, me and 2 people on a cross-country trip and a V FULL of luggage against a SHO with 2 total people and absolutely empty. And the SHO had 388whp to my V's 333.

Nothing wrong with the drivers. The SHO was empty. Figure about 3000lbs w/ 500lbs of people in the SHO. Figure about 3900lbs, 1000lbs of people + luggage in the V.

  • sho's are so much fun

  • CTS is the undisputed victor!

Fords are ugly, cheap and discounted

  • dont think the driver of the V knew exactly how to race lol all the road testing for the V i have seen has it destroying on the straightaways, i cant see it losing by this much. You at least win best driver =] i'd like ot see you up agains another V though that actually can drive, would probably be a good race.

  • Didn't read the other comments huh? The driver in the V is a very good driver also. The V is putting down less HP at the wheels and has more weight. I don't see how even the worlds best driver could overcome that.

  • come on man everybody knows you dont race a turbo car from a roll with a all motr car!! i want to see it from a dead dig!! any way cool car. and do all the older v6 shos have the same motor? i thought the autos are a little bigger i think like a 3.2 and the clutch is a 3.0.are the v6 cars faster than v8 sho's? my friend had a nice 94 blue sho and totalled it beating the fastest turbo 4cyl car around at the time(80s modded dodge daytona turbo) he lost control at about 130mph but he was ok. lol

  • yea I like the SHO's this one had balls but that ricer hood and trunk lid just look like shit.

  • I agree! But the hood was fiberglass and a good bit lighter than the stock one, and right after I bought the car, some high school chick backed into me and jacked up my trunk, I had a black one sitting around. Trust me, I did not do it for stylng purposes!

  • @turbotoolman okay LOL I was gona say you don't see any riced out SHO's let alone fast SHO's with the rice look.

  • still the weight issue here! that 90 taurus has to be way lighter then that caddy cts.

  • loved the video

  • I'd still take the Caddy if I had the choice, but the SHO is an awesome sleeper, very nice.

  • Yeah, the V6 Cadillacs put out 305hp I think.

  • The new V6 CTS puts out 306hp. This was not a CTS, I can assure you...

  • I dont understand why Ford dont use Yamaha motors for all there small engine cars. Obviously its the best V6 in any Ford to date.

  • i guess you havent looked into there new v6 twin turbo

  • Considering that this isn't a *new* CTS, yea....

  • great acceleration

  • Thanks for the props. I don't have much for power adders still...headers, catback, intake and a tune. about 440hp at the crank. But I've got some suspension mods and hopefully will have some video against Toolman in his new turboSHO at NHMS in July...

  • over in the "still sock" lane

  • Nice Caddy, props on owning such a sweet car. Was there another car in this video? All I saw was the Caddy.

  • LMAO you dont need 50K to make 388.... my car is pushing 290 with just a few hundred in mods...SHOS are slow...

  • I believe that SHO later made 531HP. SHO can push 290HP with just a few hundred in mods too. What's your point?

  • That is F*cking awesome dude! Both cars were sweet!

  • SHO always FTW!!!!!

  • props!! that car is ugly as hell but a shit load faster than what i drive..

  • Thats a stock caddy V heavily modified Taurus lets also factor int he weight difference, screw the taurus i want the caddy

  • Ha, Ha, ha,,,, you guys trashing on that SHO are a Hoot!!!!!

And Oh ya, Toolman designed and built that system. You ever build anything? And I don't mean bolting on aftermarket parts. Because you see, the SHO isn't supported by the Summit racing catalog for your small block.

You actually need to " make things " to get it to run that hard. I have articles Saved that were written by Toolman. Why? Because he really knows his shit.

    Cheers

  • caddy's suk. only crack dealers or people who think they are cool and will get laid buy em

  • Haha.. at the end of the day he is driving a SHO... Lol.. nice rice.. =]

  • How is that rice?

  • the sho is lighter and has more power of course its going to win lol, the sho is giving you the WHP the caddy is crank hp when you figure the caddys whp out its less then the SHO, then the fact the sho is lighter makes me wonder why this video was ever posted :( its like bragging that a pro wrestler beat up a grade school kid.

  • Yeah, your uncles really cool AMG(eyeroll) still doesn't have a shot against the SHO...

  • Dis guy made da V look bad let me at em! I get my Uncles CL55 AMG!!!

  • i love those SHO's but in all honesty the SHO 24v yamaha is not a very good motor, it dosent even compare to a 5.0 302 or the 3.2 in other tauruses as far as durability goes

  • Only parts that ever broke on mine were the Ford made ones. ;) Starter, alternator, etc all went out at some point. Rest of the engine ran great even supercharged with 215k miles on it when I finally totaled the car.

  • The 3.2? You mean the 24v Yamaha in the auto SHO's? Because that is the ONLY 3.2 ever to be offered in a Taurus.

Also, the SHO engine is absolutely head and shoulders above the 5.0 in just about every way/shape/form. A completely stock SHO engine will handle 15psi of boost, over 400whp, forever. It has forged rods, forged crank, main girdle support, windage tray. Put some forged pistons in one and it is good for 800hp. NO stock block 5.0 will last more than one burnout at that power.

  • Yamaha built a motor then the car it was designed for :) why do you think toyota has been using yamaha designed engines for over 20 years ??

  • so you dont think i would need forged pistons to run like 10 psi?

  • Nah, the stock pistons, assuming you have decent tune and intercooler, will handle 12psi all day long no problem.

  • The body will fall apart before the engine goes.

  • bye bye caddy, love the vid

  • But when the guy in the caddy goes to pick up a girl, she'll be saying bye bye ford.

  • Not really all the ford has to do is roll up to the caddy rev up and the girl will b saying bye bye to the little caddy that just got punked

  • Wow, where have I been? I am the owner of this CTS-V and was a previous owner of a supercharged '92 SHO which made 328hp at the wheels. But it blew up on the dyno. I sold it and my Accord and bought the V in '04, which is when this video was made. We stopped by Tulsa on the way from the Grand Canyon to Chicago on our trip home. Toolman was with my brother. I had my sis-in-law and Toolman's friend. Total weight was around 3600lbs vs. 4700lbs. SHO's do love boost. And I do have track experience...

  • weight aside. That SHO is making as much power to the wheels as that Caddy is to the crank. No wonder it pulls like that. And is the 388HP at 8 or 12psi? I give Kudos cause I didnt even know you could modify those SHOs like that. I'd still take the caddy though.

  • turbo's are shit thats why you had to do rolling start so it can spool up.......

  • the turbo kicked in and the caddy went backwards. love it!

  • what will the sho do in quarter mile and where did you get the kit to turbo the sho thanks mike and i have a sho for sale 91 128 on body 8000 on motor rust free southern car

  • As stated previously, no one makes a turbo kit for the SHO. It is all custom made.

  • i got a soft spot for SHO lol!

  • that caddy got jumped every race i woudl liek to see the same cars again this time the v gets a driver!

  • As Toolman says several comments down, BigJim is a great driver.

  • bull shit he did he got his ass handed to him fair and square

  • Toolman doesn't lie. So stfu troll.

  • you gotta love the weight vs. power ratio as a factor...

  • jesus you took him for a walk

loved my '89 SHO, great vid!

  • Hey toolman, can I have your SHO?

Lol, if I had 6k, I would have bought your SHO already off shoforum.

    Awesome video by the way.

  • Let me help with some info, I was the person holding the camera in the night scenes, I know I'm awful....

I was in the seat of the turbo SHO, and the CTSV is my brother's. That CTSV is very fast, however it is also ALOT heavier than the SHO and had luggage for a cross country trip. The SHO is helped by having a not much in it. That said, that SHO was SCARY fast. The onrush of torque is amazing. I just wouldn't exactly commute in it.

  • Im guessing you as the passenger probably weighed more than like 100 lbs of luggage. The sho is just putting out alot more whp and that frikkin sled MOVES.

  • There were two people in each car (my wife was with my brother in the CTS, and I was with the owner of the SHO. The SHO was pretty stripped, while the CTS had luggage for three on a three and a half week trip.

Also, the 91 SHO has a curb weight of 3380lbs, while the 04 CTSV is 3833lbs.

The fact is that once on the boost, the turbo gives the SHO a massive plateau of torque.

Also, earlier in the trip, the CTSV beat another friend's 2001 BMW M5.

  • Someone asked about the trans. They do not hold up, I am on my 4th or 5th one. I have tried cryo treatment, shotpeening, heavier fluid. Nothing works. Will soon try something else that is showing promise (a nitride process or something).

  • ill take you on in my sho, name the place. well mine's the v8 with twins so...

  • Two posts two turbos?

  • ill take you on in my sho, name the place. well mine's the v8 with twins so...

  • what tranny are you using that can handle that much hp....and is that out in independence oh?

  • The 3.0 and 3.2l Yamaha v6 is one hell of an engine. Such broad torque curve, great design and craftsmanship. In every video I've seen the sho just walks away by 2nd or 3rd gear b/c of the consistent power delivery.

My last car was a 3.0 5sp. I miss that engine, and only the engine. If they put that thing in a RWD coupe it would have been a classic.

  • Yeah I miss my supercharged SHO. :-( Although not having constant engine issues is nice.

  • Yea your're right. How much additional power would the car need for it to be that SHO? Im a little disappointed because I thought that Caddy would have kept up better then that and Im a huge fan of Cadillacs. I refuse to lose to a taurus. I will never race again if that happens.

  • That turbo'd SHO is currently putting out more then the 388HP it was in the video. Toolman could tell you exactly how much as it's his car.

  • I would have to see that to believe it, not calling you a liar but Im just saying. I still think that thats too easy of a win. Throw a few mods in the CTS-V and then run them. I wonder how that Taurus would do up against a stock and modded Charger SRT8. Thats one race I would love to see.

  • And I wonder how the Charger SRT8 would do against a Bugatti Veyron. Point is that this SHO beat the CTS-V. We can "what if" all day long. The SHO has 388HP at the wheels. The CTS-V has 400HP at the flywheel which would make it less then 350HP at the wheels. On top of that the CTS-V is heavier. Maybe toolman would be up for a race if you wanna go up against him though.

  • After watching this video like 33 times I have came to the conclusion that the guy driving the V cant drive. Even though the Caddy may be heavier, there is no way that that SHO should be walking the V that easily. Let me drive that damn V and then we will see what the results are.

  • That SHO beat a C5 Corvette with an LS6 conversion (450HP). Doesn't matter how good of a driver you are, you will not take it in a CTS-V.

  • Trust me, if there is one thing that BigJim (the V owner) can do, it is drive. He makes that car do things on a track that no 2 ton car should be able to do. And last time I saw BigJim, we were at a dragstrip. For the weather (July, right after a midday rain), he ran the car very well. Trap speeds around 106 IIRC. My SHO was trapping 116+, with a malfunctioning wastegate. So be my guest, at driving the V I mean, but no amount of skill can make up for that kind of trap speed difference.

  • I had a 94tempo v6 5spd supercharged that car would haul ass,it wasnt a dohc though

  • This particular car no longer exists. I removed the drivetrain, upgraded a few parts, and put it into a different SHO. I am located in Tulsa, OK. Sign me up to race that V you have.

  • i have a v he can run

  • where is this sho located ,i have a v for him to race

  • nothing wrong with that. sho's just kick ass :)

  • No, the CTS-V has more power at the flywheel but not at the wheels. It's also heavier then the SHO.

  • Something doesn't mesh here. The CTS-V has more HP and torq plus is quite a bit lighter?

I'd say that person driving the V can't drive!
