How much are you really saving over the bargain basement laundry detergents or when the good ones come on sale? And the overall quality of the washing? When I use cheap soap, I need to add more, because I'm not easy on my clothes and neither is my girlfriend. Being outdoors creates dirt and saving $50 a year just isn't worth it. Wear those barely dirty pant sa second time if you're that concerned.

lol lots of people do. Cloth diapering especially takes a toll on your washer/dryer. i do about 1 load a day, on average for my fiance (a plumber), my child (technically just a god child, but i care for her) and myself (a stay at home mom)

are YOU retarted? it says average american FAMILY. i'm assuming that that means that there are 4 people in the family, which means 100 loads per person, which is also approx. 2 loads per week. which yeah, is logical because i personally do laundry every week and it takes me 2 loads-whites and colors. so stop being ignorant and pay closer attention. kthanks.

well.. there are 365 days in a year.

And when my family does laundry they usually do it on the weekends all at once. My mom can do up to 10 loads of laundry for four people every week. That includes clothes, bedding and linens. So why is 400 loads of laundry in a year that unbelievable?

Some do, and some do less. That's why it's called an average. In our household of 8, we do 2-3 loads per day, but when I was single, I did 2-3 loads per week.
