Are those guys Hungarians? Cause they keep playing traditional Hungarian music, with the "Csardas" being their most famous song:)) They are great btw :D
@Elachus Dan, the guitar player, and Alex, the fiddle player, are actually 100% Ukrainian and that definitely comes out in their music, which is really awesome to see. You can get more info on Scythian at the website which is scythianmusicdotcom.
Lafayette College is in Easton, PA which is 2 hours northwest of Manheim (which you live five minutes from, right?) The Mauch Chunk Opera House gig is actually the day after Brewfest (May 9). Its in Jim Thorpe, PA which is also about two hours north of you. If you can swing either of those (the Lafayette College gig is FREE) I would highly recommend it. Keep an eye on the Scythian music website (YouTube wont let me list it here) to find out the latest info. on where the band is playing.
I'm gonna try to get to both!!! My dad already wants to see these guys in concert and is planning on taking me to see them in Jim Thorpe... and FREE I'M SO FRIGGIN' THERE!!!
Rock on, that's awesome!!! I don't know if you're on Facebook or not but my name is Kirsten Raab (Ann Arbor, MI network) and I've got Mid-Winter pics and stuff if you want to check them out.
Hey, no problem! I also have another Gypsy Fiddle video posted from a gig in Buffalo, NY back in November. YouTube won't let me post the URL here but just search for Gypsy Fiddle and Scythian. Were you at Mid-Winter?
Oh wow, then we were almost standing next to each other! I was front row right in front of Dan. Are you going to their Big Jig in Philly on St. Patty's Day?
You know what, I've been hearing some conflicting information on whether the show is 21+ or not. I've contacted someone who works for the band to find out for sure and I'll let you know what I find out. It'd be really sad if you weren't there and it was all ages!
At Mid-Winter, they had the tickets at the Scythian booth and it says right on the ticket "21+ Id required at the door" so it's 21+... But thanx!!! I'd LOVE to go, and to Brewfest in May (which is 5 minutes away from home) but again... 21+ and my birthday is in Sept....
Oh, you know what, you're right. Bummer. However, can you make their Easton show on March 11 at Lafayette College? Or the Mauch Chunk Opera House? Those are both in Pennsylvania.
