  • Dave thank you so much for all your videos and thank you for your time, when I'm out on the trail I'll be thinking of you. you are a great teacher.

  • @mnhs06

You could dry your fruit this way as long as you don't mind the smokey flavor in your dried fruit and it could take longer

Because the water content in some fruit is much higher (but I could be wrong on the time)

  • can you do this for fruit?

  • Worth the watch...good to learn! I will be trying this out. Thanks

  • Sounds like daves got a traffice jam in the back ground.Sure a lot of truck

  • look good

  • LOL wow its going to take me along time to watch all 416 video!!! I realy enjoy all vids I've watched so far (about 25 to date in the last 2 days), very helpfull and well done!!!

  • awesome thank you

  • how many times do u flip it?

  • how many hours do u keep it out in the day light (If it takes a day to dry)? and how much time do u wait to flip it?

  • Would love to see that shirt some time soon.. I have been looking for a shirt like that on the web. The prices I have seen are far higher than what you have said.

  • That jerky made a new subscriber outta me! Great video Dave! Now I've gotta go see all of your other ones too!

  • I really miss these kind of videos from Dave.

  • Awesome Video! I love smoking salmon in the wild like that while camping.

  • Dave I noticed that you are still carrying the M6, How about an update seeing you have had it for about a year, good bad and otherwise.

  • You are a badass I aspire to be you.

  • haha. guess you just have to be patient

  • how many hours did that take to finish?

  • Great Vid Bro! I seem to remember Jeremiah Johnson using some sort of wax/fat cloth to store Jerky ( From the movie) Another Video of your shows boiling down fat for water proofing boots and what not. Could I use a cloth saturated with boiled down fat for storing meat?

    Thanks

  • Thanks for this info...great stuff!

  • Hi Dave,,,please don't take this the wrong way but I noticed the way that the cross members for the rack constantly rolled about with the risk of the meat ending in the coals,,,just an armchair 20/20 hindsight thing but for a camptask that takes a couple of hours..the risk of dropping food in a fire could offset by notching the supports and/or adding another piece above the cross members and tying at the ends to make a complete rack that can be used again, for only 1/2 hr of xtrawork, thanks Dave.

  • mmmmmmm...jerkey

  • Thank you for the food for thought and reading material, hope you can give more recommendations in the future!

  • great video

    thank you

  • yep, do it with cottontail it's delicious

  • Thanks so much Dave! You're amazing and you inspire me to spend time in the woods everyday. I'm not looking forward to the day that you have to leave.

  • Well done

  • didnt you say your contract was like limiting you to sell things and make videos? i mean dont get me wrong i love your videos, but what the heck is going on? great video dave!

  • Thank you for making that book available for us Dave!

  • you should make a vid on prossesing a bird of some kn=ine(duck or goose mayby)

  • this looks alot like a nomad setup. Its not too hard to build a permanent shelf smoker with stone or clay that captures the smoke better, so that it doesnt take so long to smoke. good vid.

  • Dave, real nice effort. Thanks

  • Awesome!!!

  • Dave, when you are away from the shelter how do you keep the critters out. I had a pack of Norwegian rats move in. Their droppings forced me to destroy the shelter. I know you are away from your shelter for days at a time. What do you do?

  • Awesome.

So basicaly "making jerked meat" is drying it, not smoking, not cooking?

  • that jerky looks delicious ★★★★★

  • That was some good looking jerky,Dave.

  • Will they be offered in a 3XL?

    I'm a big dude.

  • We can only get them in LG/XL but I am told XL is for 46-48" Chest size.

  • @ROFLpwnedvideos Hugo from lost big?

  • ^_^ " dont get caught" he sais >.> i like that

  • Hey dave how long would jerkey last before going bad?

  • Dave how long would you say you were jerking that amount and thickness of meat. Just trying to get a rough estimate. I know outdoor temp and thickness of meat and other factors affect the time and outcome but I just want a guage of time

  • Dave, have you ever read much from Townsend Whelen? Always been one of my favorites to read about and on his methods.

  • How do you spell (Nesbit)? (Nezbat)?

  • Nessmuk

  • Nessmuk.

  • Thanks:) now i just need to buy a Forest land area

  • Man!, Critter is showing us how to gut, skin and cut deer then you're showing us how to cook and save the meat. Love It!! Thanks Great Combo.

  • You just made me so hungry, deer meat's the bomb.

  • you can alco use cheese cloth

  • Dave, great video. Could you put the jerky in a plastic bac with some dry white rice that way the rice could absorb the moisture? We used to put rice in salt shakers to keep salt from getting clumpy.

  • is the army hand book a good idea for survel

  • those old school books always have lots of good stuff in them ...I always like to read about Indians and trappers and pioneer stuff ...

  • good video dave keep up thegreat work

  • nice one as usual Dave. and when you're done smoking this, and if it gets damp slightly while carrying it due to wet weather or something, can you still re-dry it over new fire quickly, or would you have to consume it straight away as it'd not be good for storing anymore?

  • I just LOVE when Dave is tasting food. "Oh man!" thats just awesome Dave... That made me hungry... I live in Poland and now is 11:45 PM... It isn't a good time for a snack :P
