You are thinking about the 1909-S VDB. The regular 1909 VDB, only 148 Million were minted, and on the other hand, the 1909-S VDB, there were only 148 THOUSAND made. The 1909 VDB is only worth 5-10 dollars, but the 1909-S VDB is worth 900-3500 dollars. I have a 1909 VDB. You can buy the 1909 VDB on ebay for only 5-10 bucks.
I started collecting young my grandfather got me started and my other grandfather worked in the Denver mint. and my sister is a cash year I'll have to ask her if she can look for some old coins.
Really put this into mind, people. Copper is becoming more like gold and silver as a 'safe haven' against both inflation and the doomed Dollar. I would teach your kids and young collectors about the potential of copper cents and what they'll be when copper continues to rise. Think about it, should the Dollar collapse and you have a huge stash of pre-1982 cents, they'll ALWAYS have value because of the copper content, just like the silver and gold coins. I have over $600 face value of pre-82s.

i have a complete penny set, i can see your missing the 1909-s vdb, 1914-d, 1931-s, and many others, these three of course are the most expensive. especially the s vdb.
aw yes the penny, as a black man i can relate to a Penny. the darkest color of the coins. it has a lesser value than the other shiny coins. cant use it in a parking meter or vending machine they don't serve pennies. no pennies aloud.

it would be steel and depends on condition fine is about .30 retail so a collector would probably buy for like 10 cents and if its good or uncirculated uhh probably about 8 dollars retail.

Friend of mine in school used to sort through old penny rolls (purchase/replace old pennies then sell back the rolls) at a small local bank. He had one heck of a collection of wheaties. He even had quite a few Indian Heads.. Then one day he caught his little brother stealing the Indian Head pennies. After a good beating he found out his brother used the pennies to buy gum from the gumball machine when he went to the grocery store with his mom. Man!!! How many spent pennies on that charade!!!

an 1898 indian head penny.
and 1893 commemorative christopher columbus half dollar.
and a 1920 wheat penny.
I have many other cool coins too but those are some of my favorites.

it would be steel and depends on condition fine is about .30 retail so a collector would probably buy for like 10 cents and if its good or uncirculated uhh probably about 8 dollars retail.

Age doesn't always mean value. You can buy a lot of old Roman coins for acouple bucks.

Friend of mine in school used to sort through old penny rolls (purchase/replace old pennies then sell back the rolls) at a small local bank. He had one heck of a collection of wheaties. He even had quite a few Indian Heads.. Then one day he caught his little brother stealing the Indian Head pennies. After a good beating he found out his brother used the pennies to buy gum from the gumball machine when he went to the grocery store with his mom. Man!!! How many spent pennies on that charade!!!
