Stop fighting. The Monkees and The Beatles were both great bands. The Beatles producers created The Monkees. Later The Monkees outsold the Beatles and Rolling Stones in 1966; They were both good bands.
Haha, this is so neat! :) I was a Monkees fan first, then got into the Beatles as a segue from that (seeing as the Monkees phenomenon was built partly off the success of the Fab Four). I concede that The Beatles were the greater band, but The Monkees were still fabulous in their own way. It just tickles me half to death to see Paul doing the theme song. :D
@2011littlejohn1 A TV show whose actors ended up crisscrossing the US and the globe as a concert act and writing their own songs? The Monkees *were* originally conceived as a fictional rock band, but soon became something of an actual group. They continued to tour and record (albeit without all four members) for two years after the series was cancelled. But the TV show/real band thing is an arguable point -- you're entitled to your opinion. :)
@CousinJustice15652@CousinJustice15652 Ok they were a tv show that toured live as a singing group with a real band playing for them. But I quite liked the TV show and even learned I'm A Believer on my guitar - quite recently. :)

@CousinJustice15652 The Monkees were a tv show not a band - ask them they'd agree with me.

Cool! Yeah, I heard the Monkees were a great influence on the Beatles

@xtrmsprts Yeah, I think the Beatles were formed to try to copy the Monkees. Couldn't be done, though. Just a cheap imitation.

@oneoneone5 That's right. But the Beatles did have their moment for a bit

@oneoneone5 Funny because The Beatles were created first.

@xtrmsprts The Monkees even influenced Bach and all music prior to that, if the theory of evolution is correct.
