Basic sexual urges are certainly genetic but sexual preference is not. It's way to complicated to be encoded into DNA. Sexual preference is an entirely psychological matter that depends on a person's attitude. Most people choose to be straight, that's our standard of normalcy. Even if homosexuality is something one is born with, which I don't agree with, it's more along the lines of things like Down Syndrome or other aberrations that are to be treated and not lived with or accepted as "natural".
Being gay does not impair someone's ability to live a normal functioning life as Down Syndrome does, so I would definitely have to disagree with that. And just because you might dispute there being an alcohol gene doesn't mean that people are not STILL having drinking problems - it doesn't matter what the cause is. Even if homosexuality is not genetic, it is a human experience that exists and deserves to be seen as valid.

The people have have a right to their values and culture and have a right to pass those onto their children. Actually Gay people do not have equality under California law. 1. Health Insurance is taxed under domestic partners, where as when your married it isn't.
2. Property rights -- if your married it automatically goes to spouse, under domestic partnership -- the family of the deceased domestic partner came come in and take property.
3. Adoption/Surrogate Pregnancy - married people are automatically get parental rights, domestic partners do not.

Marriage is a right, thats in the constitution, equal protection under the law in regards to race GENDER, exc. The race of a person's spouce is up to the individual because of equal protection(RACE, gender exc.) Virginia vs. Lovings, then the SEX of a person's spouce must also be up to the individual under the equal protection (race GENDER exc.) making the Ban on SAME-SEX marriage unconstitutional.
The CA Supreme Court said this is NOT a case of gender discrimination. It is OBVIOUSLY not, to any thinking person. It's a matter of DEFINING what a marriage is, whether two men is the same as a woman plus a man. OBVIOUSLY, they are different. Is it gender discrimination to not call women men or not call men women? OBVIOUSLY not. Only an idiot would think otherwise.

Basic sexual urges are certainly genetic but sexual preference is not. It's way to complicated to be encoded into DNA. Sexual preference is an entirely psychological matter that depends on a person's attitude. Most people choose to be straight, that's our standard of normalcy. People who choose to be gay only do so because they have a problem with being normal, which is a consequence of abuse. Abnormal behavior should be treated for what it is, not embraced on the grounds of equality.

Even if homosexuality is something one is born with, which I don't agree with, it's more along the lines of things like Down Syndrome or other aberrations that are to be treated and not lived with or accepted as "natural".

Being gay does not impair someone's ability to live a normal functioning life as Down Syndrome does, so I would definitely have to disagree with that. And just because you might dispute there being an alcohol gene doesn't mean that people are not STILL having drinking problems - it doesn't matter what the cause is. Even if homosexuality is not genetic, it is a human experience that exists and deserves to be seen as valid.

Obviously, if it is genetically-based, and someone with the genetic defect were to refuse research that would remedy the situation, it would indicate they're far more interested in carrying their abnormality through life rather than being able to function as a fully participating heterosexual. The interesting thing is that homosexuals have no conclusive, unbiased scientific studies they can produce that shows that one is born homosexual. People of each sex can point to science to explain how they're male or female. Homosexuals suddenly "discover" they're homosexual based on "feelings" they have about themselves or someone else of the same sex. Try taking "feelings" into a court of law and see how far it gets you. No wonder Prop 8 won. Homosexuality is a choice.

Discrimination is only wrong, when you discriminate based on superficial things. I discriminate between people based on character, which is a good thing. I also discriminate between two different institutions: gay union and straight union. I give one the label "marriage," because it is obviously different which demands a different name, according to natural laws of language.

I don't every remember hearing about gays being sicked by dogs or them being hit with water hose by the police. I never heard about gays being forced to go to seperate schols or them being beating tortured or being hung for trying to teach themselves how to read STOP COMPARING BLACKS AND GAYS they are no where near the same thing.. o and by the way prop 8 just takes away legal rights as far as traditional marriage gays can still marry underneath their own churches. Gays already had equality in California law with domestic partnerships. To force new values on little children in California publica schools is just opressive. The people have have a right to their values and culture and have a right to pass those onto their children. We value marriage largely for procreation, for having both mom and dad in the home and having both biological parents. Gay unions are NOT the same and do NOT deserve the same title, in our eyes. Voting down 8 is anti-Democracy.

Actually Gay people do not have equality under California law. 1. Health Insurance is taxed under domestic partners, where as when your married it isn't.
2. Property rights -- if your married it automatically goes to spouse, under domestic partnership -- the family of the deceased domestic partner came come in and take property.
3. Adoption/Surrogate Pregnancy - married people are automatically get parental rights, domestic partners do not.
4. 1300 federal benefits that Gay couples are denied

In California, the domestic partner gets the property. The Federal law is simply because the Federal gov't discriminates between homosexual and heterosexual couples. The fact is, heterosexual couples get preferential treatment, because it is believed (and rightly so) they are responsible for our entire civilization existing and provide the best environment for children. There is plenty of evidence to support this and this is part of American culture to value heterosexual couples. So what?

Understandably, homosexuals don't respect any faith that tells them they weren't born homosexual, and that they are able to leave the lifestyle, even though it is difficult. They just want to hear people affirm their abnormal lifestyle, so no respect is forthcoming for those who don't agree with them.
Better that children be in foster care with heterosexual parents or raised by parents of the opposite sex, able to give them role models homosexuals won't.

Take a look at Amendment XIV section !, as well as the Declaration of Independence, and Amendment I. Also, take a look at our national anthem. They all support Same-sex marriage. They state that religion is not to be put into our laws, and that we are to have liberty and justice for ALL.

(Anti discrimination section... don't remember the exact number) More so, the bible never TRULY says anything about homosexuality. So... it's really humorous.

The most basic moral code that seems to be most forgotten after elementary school. How would you feel if we voted against your marriage? Our founders did not intend us to be a defensive democracy. Majority rule does not run our country. There have been multiple presidential candidates who won the popular vote but not the electoral vote and thus did not become pres.

You keep claiming that the Consitution says that "gay marriage" is a right. However, prop. 8 says that "gay marriage" will not be recognized. Is recognition of a THING like a gay union a RIGHT or does that just represent a minority value? The government is required by law to represent the majority, not you nor your minority values. The Constitution is adamantly in favor of government by the people and not by an arrogant group of elitists. "Gay marriage" simply represents gay dogma, in my view.

No matter how you look at it, the 14th Amendments states that no state is to abridge any privilege of any citizen nor is it to deny any citizen of life, *liberty*, or property. I am merely stating that Prop 8 is unconstitutional and should not be upheld because it goes against the liberties of Americans. We are not a democracy where religion is to enforce their views onto the citizens. Nor are we run by majority rule. Our president is decided by electoral votes, not popular say.

Marriage is a right, thats in the constitution, equal protection under the law in regards to race GENDER, exc. The race of a person's spouce is up to the individual because of equal protection(RACE, gender exc.) Virginia vs. Lovings, then the SEX of a person's spouce must also be up to the individual under the equal protection (race GENDER exc.) making the Ban on SAME-SEX marriage unconstitutional.

The CA Supreme Court said this is NOT a case of gender discrimination. It is OBVIOUSLY not, to any thinking person. It's a matter of DEFINING what a marriage is, whether two men is the same as a woman plus a man. OBVIOUSLY, they are different. Is it gender discrimination to not call women men or not call men women? OBVIOUSLY not. Only an idiot would think otherwise.
