Has anyone noticed that the new Muppet Movie had a song about how happy and perfect life is, and the old Muppet Movie has a song about how troubling women are…?
You know it was probably for the best that they found Rowlf. I mean, the poor guy is paid minimum wage, which, of course, is very low in 1979 Idaho. Why do you think he reads? He cant afford a TV? HMMMMM?
@QIsForK12 I strongly suggest you don't try to imagine what I was implying. It's deliberately ambiguous. It's meaning is solely dependent on the level of depravity of the reader's imagination. I think your fear reaction is probably the healthiest. lol
I would change one thing: "not often you see a guy that green that blue"--but that's me; It's brilliant as it is, I just think that would've been cuter. I love Rowlf, he's the best dog ever!
@TheDeejayfresh Well, technically it's three parts... at the end of the song, Rowlf breaks into scat jazz lyrics and the Kermit/Rowlf harmony keeps going. Henson recorded three tracks and layered them.
Rowlf is a rather - how should I put it - mature character. Henson came close to pushing the envelope through him in this movie. Or maybe Henson did push the envelope using Rowlf and it was cleverly disguised.
@mdumas43073 Thank you, thank you, thank you! I used to have the soundtrack album LONG ago (it was on tape, that's how long ago), and for the life of me I could not remember the words to that extra verse. "New leash on life ..." awesome.
you know a lot of the people that had cameos in this movie were guests on the muppet show...steve martin, bob hope, richard pryor, orsen wells...I think
Rowlf is definitely my favorite character. I can really identify with him, "I finish work, go home, have a couple beers, read a book and take myself for a walk." When puppy love comes on strong?
Or a collie that's classy,
A laddie needs a lassie,
A lover and wife gives you a new leash on life...
Kermit: New "leash" on life?
Rowlf: Oh, yeah...sorry 'bout THAT...two, three, four...
