  • What a voice, what a voice!

  • What year was this shown?

  • wow,she was engaged? i wonder with who and what happened to that relationship.

  • @kim24may She was married around 1980 too and had an affair at one point with Christopher Williams who was in the New Jack City movie and sang "Talk To Myself" and "I'm Dreamin".

  • @stanleyballard I know she was married in the early 80s,but this is after that marraige had ended. She talks about being engaged but she never says who she was engaged to.I never heard about her and Christopher Williams, thats a shock to me.. (wow)

  • i miss This BET

  • @kay77764 Me too.

  • Listening to Phyllis sing at the piano with Lonnie Liston on piano takes my breath away. Phyllis had an amazing voice. I am praying for my favorite singer Whitney Houston. A beautiful talent with drug problems. I don't want to hear on the news the death of Whitney Houston, that would be devastating. Whitney please go get help, and forget the haters, their are more people who genuinely care about you than the haters.

  • @Milton754 OMG! Such an amazing vocalist. Takes my breath away. She feels a song deep down and she conveys her emotions vocally so that we can all feel it too.

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5:04-5:12...pure comedy! lol

  • I SO wish Phyllis was still alive. She seems like one of those ladies that you would love to go to her house just to have a conversation with. She seems like she could be a TRIP. Miss her :-(

  • okay nevermind lonnie is the piano guy ooops

  • is lonnie liston smith the piano guy because i was sure the interviewers name was donnie simpson maybe i am wrong

  • When BET was the SHIT!

  • thank you so much for taking the time to load this!! I can't believe I'm watching this right now.

  • does anyone REALIZE how great this is....I LOVE lonnie!

  • omg this kills me 2 watch cuz she talks about the drug analogy in "obsession" which mirrored her real life and the fact that she was engaged im like dang wat happend w/that but I love her in interviews cuz she was so funny...thank u lowando 4 sharing this

  • I miss her light, RIP Phyllis

  • It's no way you can give that much of yourself and sing about that much pain and not internalize a part of that pain . My prayer is that Pepper found the peace in death that alluded her in life. Thanks for posting.

  • Like most true entertainers she became for me bigger in death than in life I really wish that this beautiful statuesque classy lady could found some kind of security in her love life if she could have had happiness in and true love in her personal life i truely believe ahe would still be here

I believe this Lovely black queen died from lonliness Listen to her last recording I refuse to be lonely it is so heart felt from her soul .

    RIP queen

  • Thanks, all!

  • When she said drugs kills your spirit and ruins your life and the look she gave after that it was like that's how they made her feel imo

  • @Zaebolista you're absolutely right. Although she was struggling with mental illness before getting hooked on drugs I believe they intensified the death of her spirit and not only ruined her life but relationships she had with others. I still love her though and I'll always be a fan!

  • Such a smart and spiritual woman. Too bad she was in a place she couldn't digest her own medicine.

The vocals are slamming. No auto tunes here baby.

  • Omg I'm loving this! I love seeing new videos of this Diva!

  • Oh Lowando I heart you. This made my heart smile. Pepper always fierce and honest.

  • she was engaged?!

  • Thanks for this post. I've seen this before but I don't know if it was Youtube. PH was in her element - on point, introspective, and seemingly sober. I love her and miss her dearly.

  • Did yall see phyllis at 4:45 WITH THOSE EYES lol looking like miss pac man lol I love phyllis lol phyllis is hillarious I could see me and her laughing at people

  • Damn she was telling alot about what she was going through at the first 25 secs of the video

  • Radical, Lowando!!!! I've been looking for this footage (and waiting for this footage) forever!!!!! Thanks so much for posting it! Phyllis had such a wonderful speaking voice, if I could, I would listen to her interviews all day. Lonnie Liston was surely doing his thing on that piano too. :0) Donnie Simpson was so cute when he interviewed, I miss Video Soul. :0( Phyllis was definitely a charismatic person. :0) Thanks so much again for posting!!!!
