  • I was using my tripometer to keep track of when to fuel up because my fuel gauge crapped out. I did not want to pay to have the tank dropped. Then the lights went out. After seeing this video I had it fixed in 1/2 hour. One of the resisters was just hanging there. I re-soldered all 4 resisters and now the lights are like new. You save me some good money. And, it cost $0 because I already had the tools and solder.

  • I have a 2002 Buick Regal that had the same problem. Re-soldering, as was done in this video, failed to fix the problem. On the second attempt we replaced the 4 resistors (150 ohm) and now it works fine. The 4 resistors were less than $2 at Radio Shack.

  • I bought a new cluster at the junk yard today and tried it out. Everything seemed to be working fine on it except the orange square highlighting what gear you are in would not work work. Could this be related to one of the four resistors as well? Thanks

  • You just saved me 300.00 for an exchange cluster! Thank you so much! It works great!!

  • Thank you very much for this great video. I saved my friend alot of money with your helpful tips and repair procedure.

  • Thank you very much, didn't even need to buy new resistors just cleaned the old ones and re-soldered, it took about an hour and a half. I am sure I would have been charged 3 hours shop time and the price of a new circuit board if I had taken it in.

  • Soldering is the hardest part! Can you show how to do it! Please I took the odometer out I'm having trouble with just soldering, can anybody help?

  • this does work! I just did it myself this afternoon on 9/18/11. Thanks for the great video

  • Mine had been fading in and out, then more out than in, now almost always off. I'll have to give this a try!

Somewhat related, have you found any replacement lamps for the cabin controls panel? Most of those blue bulbs have gone out in my '01 Century. It'd be nice if there were LED replacements, though dimming could be an issue.

    Thanks!

  • did you replace the resistors or just re solder the factory ones?

  • Same exact problem with mine. I'm going to try it tonight!

  • Thanks for sharing this!

  • i have the exact same problem with my 03. il give it to a try
