  • Sublime. I keep coming back (year after year) to hear this recording of David. How blest he is ... and we are since he and you shared this recording. Thank you!

  • I can appreciate his artistry, dedication and performance skills. YouTube audio probably doesn't do justice to his voice. I imagine live performances are much richer. There is a slightly strident quality to his upper tones. The world is rich with great singers: denigratihg one doesn't elevate another. Listen to the ones who move YOU.

  • lindo. música!

  • he is quite clearly talented and gifted, but there is something about his voice that is not pleasant to me. Still, it is very obvious that he does have a remarkable gift.

  • @Unbreakable0121 I agree with you; his voice is at times quite unpleasant and nasally (just a personal opinion). However, if I were a tenor (unfortunately I'm a baritone hahaha), I would love to sing this song. Beautiful melody, and his voice does suit this song definitely.

  • ...the Captain smiled and told them, "Silence is not the absence of sound but the absence of noise"..."and then they asked "Then, Captain, what is noise ?"..."Noise, my friends, is the sound that has no added value"...but none of them asked what silence was, besides an absence...for them, silence was evident - the Captain thought, tired - but he knew that for David Hobson & Friends, silence, more than the absence of noise, was rather the presence of a sound with added value... whatever value :-)

  • This is art; beautiful art; vivid, soul-filled art.

  • Lovely song and he was singing very well back then.

  • Masterful, chill-inducing and glorious.

    Thank you, David!

  • One word for his voice:

    Magnificent.

    He shines!!!

  • Why have I not discovered David Hobson before today?! I am enchanted. What a lovely lyric sound. Bravo David., with all best wishes. I look forward to hearing much more in the months and years ahead. (I watched your performance of La Boheme and was enthralled!)

  • awesome

  • "ABCClassics":...you got on my nerves...it will take a while for me to recover from this...may the Gods bless you for sharing this pearl with us...take care !...now, where are my damned Kleenex ???...I need to dry my eyes...damn you !!! :o)))))

  • The Hobson/Hirschfelder CD entitled "Inside This Room" (which also includes more of their compositions) is still available and very popular. Middle Eight Music is one supplier guaranteed to have it in stock - check out their website - they carry all Hobson's CDs and DVDs.

  • Wow. I love this.

  • This room we shared for years Still looks the same It held our silent fears Our secret love and pain And as the sky moved by and life was rearranged This room has never changed The hours spent with you Were only to disappear Inside this room This room we shared for years Still looks the same It held our silent fears Our secret love and pain And as the sky moved by and life was rearranged
  • Beautiful voice! Wonderful interpretation!

How can I get the lyrics?

  • that was lovely

  • OH my goodness, thats a beautiful performance. His voice is perfect for that song. I didn't know about Him until i heard La boheme on pbs. I have found a new favorite singer.

  • O.K. yes I have been back again. Confession time - more than a couple. This is such an incredibly moving song that one can't get quite enough of it or the way that it is sung so heart-felt by David.

  • Absolutely, totally, wonderfully stunning. What a treat to be able to now, not only hear but SEE this exquisite song sung so beautifully by David.

  • It's a joy to be able to view this video... over and over again! It is more beautiful every time I hear (and now see) it. It is a "gooseflesh" experience for me.

  • @noellaross1 - I couldn't agree with you more. I just keep coming back to see and hear periodically ... and be entranced. (Thank you David!)

  • @noellaross1

Two years later - and it still does it to me!

  • Hobson's own composition, recorded at the Melbourne ABC studios, and screened 30/8/99, just after the launch of the CD Inside This Room, a collaboration between the two Davids (friends since schooldays). The following year ITR was translated into Italian as In questa stanza, for Hobson's first solo album French & Italian Arias. Either way it's beautiful, but it's always special to hear Hobson sing the original version in concert - as he did earlier this month in Melbourne - we never tire of it.

  • To hear this hauntingly beautiful song sung in English is a dream come true for so many David Hobson fans. Thank you, ABCClassics.
