Selecting a Camera Tripod - Bonus #1 - Discover if your camera the correct size for your tripod?

What tripod and/or head DO you recommend for the G617? (I'm taking delivery of one next month).

you got the question the wrong way around ITS is a tripod the right size for your camera..... You don't buy a Camera for your Tripod as for a camera too small for a tripod, If you can fit it and it hold the camera still its doing what you want....

that tz5 has a dodgey tripod fitting becasue its placed biased to one side of the camera not the middle

Unfortunately, I am not certain which camera you are referring to?

I did have the tripod base plate attached to the only section of either camera that was available

I am not certain as to why the cameras are designed in this way, perhaps the camera manufacturers could explain the reasoning for this?
