When I was 9 years old and living in Dinuba, CA, there was a 66 year old man (He was born on Feb. 5th at the turn of the century.) that my Mum was friends with and this man could play anything that had strings on it and MAN! HE COULD MOVE HIS FINGERS! This man gave me a great love of Bluegrass and I could listen to him play all day and ask for more!
Thank you Perry Cutberth for the gift you gave me. I will NEVER forget you!
I love watching and listening to these kids play. They could knock the timing back an eight though. Like a lot of bluegrasser's these days play like everything is a speed competition. If they and many, many others would slow it down just a touch the note separation and definition would be so much better. I think every kid should learn an instrument. All eight of ours learned to play. It's fun to get together and play on weekends. We play lots of different music but bluegrass is always a staple.
I have recently seen Ricky Skaggs live. He's an amazing musician. Now these lil boys? HOLY CRAPSHOOT! If they're this good now...what will they be like in 10 years? These boys have the potential to become one of the best Bluegrass bands in history, at this rate. I've been listening to bluegrass sincce the 70's and it's still in my top 3 styles of music. These boys just prove that some good ole time'y music is still one of the best.
@mlvezie I think some people would consider bluegrass old timey, not in a disrespectful way, but in a nostalgic way. I think it's fair to say songs like Foggy Mountain breakdown and some others have been around for quite awhile. This music has endured for generations and will continue to do so. The boys remind me a little of the bluegrass group that played on The Andy Griffith Show in that they rarely crack a smile. My husband says that's traditional
@corvozoppicando Naw, it was the early 80's (Highway 40 Blues, etc), he has very nicely assumed the role as the patriarch of bluegrass, Dont ya love some bluegras?!!!
@SinnKanos Yep. Ya gotta love bluegrass. There's nothing that'll pull me up by my bootstraps when I'm down in the dumps and get my foot a'tapping like some good bluegrass. And these boys are just awesome.
it was great meeting you guys, your parents & grandparents, in Sellersville, PA, last month, after your afternoon set. during the evening show we were hoping that ricky would bring you out to do a song or three with his band, especially after he mentioned this jam session.
we listened to your CD 2.5 times on the way home from sellersville--it's great!
hopefully you'll contact the delaware valley bluegrass fest folks and get on stage over Labor Day weekend in salem county, nj.
at sellersville on 11/19/11 @ nite i was hoping you boys would've been called on stage by ricky. oh well. glad to see the jam session he mentioned is now posted.
listened to your cd 2.5 times on the way home. it's great! you can her each of you playing each note, unlike in sellersville where tommy's guitar wasn't mic'ed right.
hope you'll contact delawarevalleybluegrassDotOrg and try to get booked labor day weekend down here in south jersey.
Incredible. Ole Ricky's hanging on for dear life. Wow! I don't really believe in reincarnation, but you kids must have lived before. So young, and so much developed talent lumped in one family. Awesome!
Once you play with the stars, it seems, that you become one of the stars soon after. Reminds me of Sierra Hull, how she became so popular at such a young age. You get to learn from the best, which jettisons you to their level of proficiency. Anyways, my point is you guys are so darn lucky to have this experience!
Finally a new video...great! Received your CD a couple weeks ago, thanks, awesome, but your videos are really entertaining and I always look forward to more. Come on up north to Toronto sometme.
Simply incredible!
