Hayley sings this song well, and it carries a different meaning to those who hear based on their experiences. Hayley is young and has a fresh outlook, although I am sure she has had a number of ups and downs by now. The message of the song is even though we have all of this experience, we still don't know life, nor do we know love... at all. After a life of failed relationships we can, along with Ray, sing "A Song for You."

She does have a beautiful voice. That being said, it is not at all suited to this song. It's a nice but emotionless rendition of a song that should express love, disappointment, happiness, and bafflement with the ups and downs of life and its major events.

Though I love Hayley's version, and Hayley herself, I have to say her recorded version is much better simply because of the string ensemble. It's really missing that extra something with just 2 guitars and a violin. Still sounds great but that added string ensemble really brought a lot out of the song.

A big reason is the fault of the american audience and the (being kind here) slightly mediocre taste in music. When people start using the question "is it something good to dance to at a club" as their basis of "good music" then of course all the ones with actual talent are going to fall off to the side. With this frame of mind it then becomes easier to like a song that has less depth to it. On a side note I am American and I may be baised because I was raised on classical music, lol.
