for some reason everybody plays the bass like that. but your left hand is off.

for the verses:

F# --> F --> C#

then

F# --> G# --> F#.

try that in your left hand and listen to the song

it's an octave ... if you can see one note, which for example it's "b", it's just an octave so play the lower b. he's playing by octaves and then adds a middle sometimes.
