  • God is not what most people even religious people think he is

  • Both religion and science should serve a purpose. Science give us the logistics of life and the universe, where religions gives us more of the internal and spiritual aspects of things. Religions have gone astray over time because human beings are not perfect. One thing that helps me to believe in God, is when I see the goodness in people. We as human beings also have free will to decide what we want to do live for the good or the bad, Also we have of responsibility.

  • we are the ones we've been waiting for.

  • Well, there are more atheists because there are more educated people. Simple.

I do partially agree with what he said about the Atheists being more curious. At least that's my case. I searched sincerely for god and never found it so... I'm an atheist.

  • One reason is because Gods true people like Amish and those gentle Christ like peple are hidden.. Atheist only see todays out of order chaos Christianity and all its fake and ridiculous actions. Todays hiphop christianity does not represent God...

  • Why is atheism on the rise?

    Because its the 21st century.

    Mankind is growing up.

  • More people are becoming atheist because more and more people are becoming smarter. Anyone who asks questions is an atheist.

  • aethism is a religion a lame one at that science is the way of explaining the wonderful physical universe we live in, the contrast is the spiritual that exists outside our universe where god whatever or whoever god is first invented it all

  • after 23 years as a christian I became an athiest because science showed that the bible and all other religious books are nothing but fairytales.science has and will continue to enlighten our way of thinking with pure, hard facts, not books that claim that unicorns exist. Also athiests dont search for a god as we dont need to as we know no gods exist.

  • Peace to you, yogeeshashram. Regardless if we atheists do not believe in a god, that does not deny the right to respect a fellow sentient being as yourself. *bows*

  • Love the end: "At least if they don't find that god, they will find themselves. So I bless all of them. My blessings to them. The're real seakers."

  • This guy sort of misses the point, but at least he's on the right side of things! One of the few supernaturalists with Truth claims with the balls to encourage free inquiry. After all, if Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc had the Truth, would not honest seekers come to that conclusion?

  • @JakobsMovieTutorials

Still, you see this video and you don't understand, this man has already told you, wow amazing.

god is enlightenment, it's a path, there is a force all around us, even animals can sense this, why can't you?

  • @JakobsMovieTutorials

Oh course you know, the joke is on you. St. Nicholas was a historical figure, before he was a myth. Ha ha!

  • It's a natural evolution.

You see, materialism, which finds expression in various ideas like science and atheism, is really just the modern form of the old colonialism. This is why science was pioneered by the church!

Fundie materialism, in practically every way, mirrors the old religious hierarchy, the sanctimoniousness, the fear of heresy, and intolerance and rigidity of thinking. The obsession with intellectual and ecological domination and compulsive progress. It's all very funny.

  • @JakobsMovieTutorials People are getting dumber, not smarter. Most of the increase in atheism is a result of stupid people trying to make themselves appear intelligent by association with brilliant atheists such as Hitchens and Dawkins. The typical YouTube atheist is a moron. You only need to read a sample of their comments to understand that.

  • PEACE IS FROM GOD.

  • @89990000

then why is there so much blood spilled in his name? Why does jesus bring not peace, but a sword?

  • @89990000 peace is from human nature, so is chaos. that's how we are, naturally. Deal with it.

  • @89990000 peace is from human nature, so is chaos. that's how we are, naturally.

  • @89990000 peace is from human nature, so is chaos.

  • @89990000

What bible are you reading? What planet are you observing?

The peaceful nations .. the ONLY peaceful nations.. are those who have wholly abandoned the concept. When you take a look at the nations that are the "most religious" you find some of the most torn apart nations on the surface of the planet.

    Peace?.. seriously? Peace?

  • @89990000 Which one?

  • Better education across the world combined with a much greater understanding of the universe we live in will lead to the eventual demise of all religion.

    Not today...not tomorrow...but have no doubt...Religion is Doomed =)

  • i like the way he talks... it's really calm and kind. <3

but it's not just because we're sick of organized religion... it's that science explains lots of questions about the universe. people once thought that diseases were caused by evil spirits, now we know that it is because of bacteria and viruses. and we conclude that because most of the explanations made up about the natural world in the past were wrong, god is probably wrong too, and there is a natural explanation for the universe.

  • I grew up with fundamentalist Christians. I had a God that I could have kept, but unfortunatly for them, I read more details out of their old king james holy bible. I have a problem with the guilt tripping of people at even the wrongest times, which is mostly done to relatives who need a shoulder instead. Funeral? Lost job? Why would a Christian fundie care? It's all about "converting and fixing" you, the supposed "problem" they see.

  • You can be atheist and be spiritual.

For example: Buddhism is not a religion, but it is very spiritual and it promotes people to become enlightened and better people.

Yes, in a way you are correct, atheists are curious and will likely find "God", and if they do not find God they will find themselves. You are very spiritually enlightened my good sir.

  • @Neosaigo You are right. In addition to being able to be both atheist and spiritual, you don't even have to belong to any religious or spiritual group. I personally would consider Buddhism to be a religion since it is an organized practice, but I myself am very spiritual and not part of any organized spiritual group. Also, if someone finds themselves, they have found "god". :) <3

  • Because maybe more people are starting to grow brains?

  • If there is a light connecting all beings.... Why does it have to be called "God"? Why not call it "The Force" or something?

  • @Alexfantastico26 Exactly. We could also call it "Chakra" (Naruto reference.)

  • There is no proof of macro-evolution. micro-evolution happens under microscope all the time. But macro-evolution the evolution of one species into another different species has never been observed nor proven in a lab. Period.

  • @shamiotzi253 First up, why the fuck are you talking about evolution? What relevance at all does that have to do with atheism? Secondly evolution IS a proven FACT, and even if it wasn't true, it would have absolutely no bearing what so ever on the existence of God.

  • @shamiotzi253 Are you fucking stupid?

  • @shamiotzi253 yeh obviously. it would kinda take awhile in a lab wouldnt it, a few lifetimes perhaps lol!?

  • @shamiotzi253

Speciation has been directly observed in both nature & in the lab so keep trotting your wilful ignorance / trying to deceive others all you like, the evidence is available for all to verify. Just google 'observed speciation' & see.

Tell me, what is the barrier that stops the micro from turning into macro? Macro is simply micro on a larger scale & many small changes will eventually result in large changes, obviously.

Ps. micro evolution doesn't mean microscopic *facepalm*

  • @shamiotzi253

GOD has never been observed nor proven in lab. Period.

not to mention that they actual have observe macro evolution in plants, fly and other bugs as well, and larger animals have been observed in the field.

Another good example are domestic dogs. Most dogs are bread from wolfs and humans have been recoding this for years. also milk cows where also domesticated from a wild cow that is now an entirely different species.

every child is actually a mutation.

  • "atheist for me means does god exist or not exist" no,this is an agnostic . . atheist REJECT the claim that god exists, therefore we are NOT seeking him the same as we do not seek the tooth fairies existence. atheists do not disctiminate as all religions do, atheists treat everyone equally ( women, gays, black and white ) atheists do not follow bronze age treditions and world views. atheists are FREE THINKERS allowing scientific advancements, atheists have their own morals NOT 2000 year old ones

  • More people is becoming atheist because we're approaching the generation of "reason". We don't need religion to tell us what is right from wrong. Religion is only there for moral comfort and to control society.

  • I could listen to you all day. I love your words of comfort and wisdom.

  • Fundamentalist Christians cause Atheism.

  • I agree that religion is business, and I am not buying!

  • oh yea the streets are now becoming more safe now that people are becoming more atheist and every thing is now coming together for a safer world no more war!!!

  • @flyinv1967

Sweden, one of the most atheist countries in the world (if not THE most atheist) has one of the lowest rates of muggings in the world, so their streets are quite safe.

Also, what are the majority of wars currently or recently being waged about?

Sorry, but once again the facts of reality deny the unfounded blind assertions of the willingly ignorant.

  • Oh ok I am god cool problem solved

  • @blackson1977

yeah... dumb as dumb can be. Preaching is preaching dude... get a life.

  • Religion teaches fear of hell. Atheist aren't really afraid of god it just looks like that from a religious point of view. Don't try to label things you don't understand.

  • Empathy is my moral and religion.

  • Believers like to cause evil unto others in the name of their religion and their god. They like to think it's actually doing something for the greater good when in fact it's just making more excuses to hide it's nature.

If I decide "Hey I believe in God" and then cause more negative impact to others in society by spreading hatred and lies, that is OK because I am doing to for the one god that I chose to believe in (as opposed to the thousands of other "gods" I could have chosen).

  • heck if know, evil likes to excuse it self from sin and wrong doing, evil in it's best light likes to think it's actually doing something for the greater good when in fact it's just making more excuses to hide it's nature.

If I deside Hey don't belive in God and attempt to explain away evil as a psychological state or brain chemical imbalance then I am free to committ any kind of sin like without feeling any guilt.

however I belive in God, and that the universe is part of God.

  • @Lok783 so pls tell me what do the statistics say about atheists vs god fearer when it comes to the worst sins known to man, when you find that religious people are far more numerous when it comes to these sins/crimes, i am an agnostic and the way i see your comment does not paint a pretty picture of your understanding of the world, ignorance is not a virtue my friend.

  • Because they don't want to waste there lives praying to a fake god...

  • It's harder to be an atheist than blindly being a superstitious religious person. Because when you are an atheist you have to ask all these questions, like how did the universe start, how big is it, are there any other inhabited planets out there? We wonder about all these questions that religious people have already convinced themself that they know, when in reality nobody can know this.

I also wonder what it's like to be dead, even though I already know, since I was dead before I was born ...

  • @sh0werp0wer love that line about being dead before I was born, classic Mark Twain. Your perspective is very rational. Bottom line (religion) ignorance is bliss

  • Agnostic = still seeking to know if god is real or not.

Atheist = done researching no god all bull shit not going to believe in fake god.

Militant Atheist = Keep that evil religion to your -self some waco follower of a faith might use that to kill people or start a war or beat up someone in the name of god.

Clergy / Evangelical = con man sicko money grubbing child molester.

  • Why we become atheist? i was a christian but since i had fellows who used to beat up their views because they worked on a sabbath, made me think WHY?? why can't no one work on sabbath? i read on the new testament JESUS DID NOT COME TO ABOLISH THE OLD LAWS.. and also know of some people who have killed their child for miss behaving and stuff.. all writting in the scriptures.. i was a christian 2 months ago and happy i'm an atheist. Thanks to my mind im who i am know a day!

  • good man. I wish 'everybody' was as reasonable.

  • Love this guy!

  • I think it comes down to this: scientific advancements. It's not people becoming tired of religion, it's the knowledge that is more available than ever before. Instead of just saying "oh, the gods did it", people actually are working out how it happens.

  • you are the best yogeesh! Science will win, because it works.

  • fuck the belife syatme we dont need relgion or aythism all we need is love and peace among humanity itself

  • Science goes up. Atheism goes up.

    Religion goes down.

  • @2nDoppelganger Translation for religious nuts:

Fact, science and reason go up

    Bullshit goes down.

  • Thank you for that blessing! seriously, i was feeling a bit down about some stuff, and that blessing is exactly what i needed!

  • I like Buddhists... :D

  • As an atheist i wish more religious or believers understood this perspective.. i think my atheism at least is making people around me stronger christians because of all of the questions i make them ask themselves, and if they are able to intellectually & honestly find answers to them within themselves than good for them, but those same questions are some i doubt i will ever find. Just like he was saying i am a seeker of truth, and if i find nothing i will at least find myself. (not a bad least)

  • Real seekers.. I love that. Blessings to you too. <3

  • This guy looks familiar....must be the beard.

  • Christian God is the Muslim and Jewish God. That God kills people and is terrible and bla bla bla. Even Hinduism is terrible like this. People in the west (where I would say modern science lives) are just less exposed to it. Eastern religion has a better reputation simply for being less known to the West. It's not much different.

  • @IanEColeman in what way is the Hindu 'God' terrible? Buddhists and Jains dont have a God so lets not count them as followers of 'those eastern religions'. The concept of God in Hinduism is rather vague, to the extent that God was referred to as 'Ka' or 'Who?'...ive never heard of a holy war in the name of Hinduism or people converting the 'natives' to Hinduism en masse. No Hindu scripture denounces the followers of other faiths. It allowed rival ideas to flourish.

  • @tarnicles

In Pakistan/Indian Muslims and Hindus have been fighting for a long time. Still though, their specific entities are more vague than say Christianity.

  • @TheOtium it's the muslims who are extremist here.Hindus just protect themselves.Hindus have never invaded any other country in it's history of 1000 years.

  • @IanEColeman would a Buddha ever have gotten away after questioning the very tenets of the Christian/Muslim faith? He denounced the Vedas and guess what, the Hindus deified him an now revere him as an 'avatar'. In Ancient India, atheists like the Buddhists, Jains and Charvakas lived without being assailed. How many of the 'unbelievers' did the Hindu 'God' claim to have taken out? Theres no concept of blasphemy in Hinduism either. How many crazy 'Prophets' did the Hindus have?

  • the answer to why people are becoming atheists is much easier than that

people nowadays have access to information like never before

in the old days information wasn't so accessible so it was most likely that the people who lived longer knew more, it is no longer the case and people stopped believing older people because they're full of crap and they know jack

  • i like this video.

  • opinions are not to be suppressed. i dont care if your a religious fanatic or an anti-religious fanatic.

my view is: everyone that believes and knows in their heart that what they did in life was right, then in their afterlife, if their is an afterlife, they get a good one.

if they do things that they know in their heart is wrong, then they get bad one.

but if u disagree, i will listen, think about it, and respond.

    NOT argue. discuss.

"nobodies right, if everybody's wrong"-For what its worth

  • Bible is full of contradictions. Why would a loving God have his followers kill innocent people?

  • Thanks for uploading the video. A very interesting point at the end there, which I have not heard before.

  • it's a very easy question-people today have much more knowlage, enough to not need any fairy tail.

  • @saveusbloodymess or they think they know everything and dont want to believe.

    knowledge speaks.

    wisdom listens.

ur speaking. but will u listen?

idc what religion or non religion you are, please, instead of saying EVERYONE ELSE is wrong, just say your opinions, and listen and interpret others opinions.

if u think its a fairytale, its your opinion.

if you think theirs only one god and everyone else is damned to burn forever, its your opinion.

both sides are the same, just dont know it.

  • Thank you sir. Although I disagree with what you say, I can see you are a peaceful sincere person, and I respect that.

I must say though that all people are born atheists, and one only becomes religious through training. Sometimes the religious become enlightened and realise the absurdity of what they have been taught and become atheist. Thankfully.

  • Why are atheists becoming more prominent? Superior education, and also, a more liberal society in most countries. People are now -able- to say that they are an atheist. In the past such a statement was suicidal.

  • IMO, People have been atheists even long ago, but would get their head chopped off for admitting to it. I too was hesitant to admit to it since i was in a catholic school, but once i did i had other "catholics" admitting the same thing but only in private.

Hopefully soon we'll all grow out of this nonsense.

  • Comment removed

  • @trev2k7160 yea because education helps kids to make sense of their surroundings. to argue with proof. it is not against religion directly, it just happen that religion conflicts the laws of sciences.

evolution took place long before the existence of the bible, which is written by a evolved ape.

  • @trev2k7160 No one is forced into atheism. Atheism and Evolution are two seperate things. Persecution? A quote I found "The anti-Christians cannot uplift society and do anything to benefit the good will of men, so they have to destroy. It is their only option as what they have to offer is of no value, it has no salvation, no love, no redemption. This is why they destroy. Not because they hate us actually...secretly they hate themselves -"

  • @Gladiuspyr Atheists are not destroyers. Religion is. Yes there is no salvation other than that which we provide ourselves by helping others, promoting peace, and respect for human rights. Down with intolerance, bigotry, and superstition. Make the most of this life, because it is all you have. Give and receive love.

  • Religions aren't becoming a cult. They've always been cults, and people are really getting tired of being told bullshit and threatened to believe it without a single piece of evidence. If it was kept personal like this guy suggests, this world wouldn't be so damn screwed up right now. I wish more theists were like him.

  • Bless you for this perspective! Very true.

  • @VargaPesta I guess that's why he says that if you don't find God you'll find yourself. He seems to be coming from a buddhist perspective of life while he talks about this.

  • This Man is so close to the truth I love to hear him everyday. I use to don't belive in Religions wich I still, but we need more people like Him that share good knowledge of spirituality. Respect is everything and can take each of us to higher levels.

  • Thank you Yogeeshashram, that was a nice little talk. I shall look up more of your videos.

    Power to the peaceful :)

  • Y? because people are becoming more educated and are less persacuted than the past

  • Becoming an Atheist (middle ground) is the right path to understand true GOD, not what you are told or forced to believe by institutions.

  • god is your own bloody concience. it's all in your own heads, there is no sky daddy.

  • Why are people becoming more atheistic? Well, maybe because we're all supposed to worship some god, yet this god never shows himself, and the only proof is a really, really, really old book written in extremely superstitous and primitive times, where science has already disproven most of what was considered "supernatural" back then. Or maybe the fact that religion seems more like fantasy than "faith." Talking animasl, flying monkeys, giants, unicorns, bread raining from the sky, etc., etc...

  • @LockardKevin I agree with everything you said but one thing... "The only proof is a really old book written in extremely superstitous and primitive times"

That Doesn't make it factual / proof but yeah i know what your trying to say.

It annoys me when people quote from the bible in discussion as if it's a case for an argument. They're quoting from a book we do not believe in, in an attempt to try and prove us wrong? lol

  • the problem with the word god is that theres always trying to pull you to the monotheistic version,i theres one god as they say its not the right approach the word god is to define the divine, one of many gods.....indeed you are "a god" the divine, you came from the source wich all the gods came from, the tao. and the tao its not god its only the source where the nothing and the everything came from, the tao drinks from you because you are part of the tao.

  • Simple, because more of us are getting sick of superstitions endless abuses, baggage, and trouble making.

  • I liked Shashram's reaction to the question.

  • I really appreciate this video...a whole lot. I've never heard a non atheist giving blessings to an atheists.

    Thank you Dr. Acharya Yogeesh

  • If people werent atheists, u wouldnt have the World Wide Web to upload this video on utube.com

  • Atheism is on the rise from more communication-technology, it allows for people to convey their ideas and discuss what is wrong here and there...as communication-technology improves so does the discussion...atheism is something that this communication is leading too.

  • theists think with their god. if, and when they try to use their brain, they will cease to believe in god.

  • great video...........some people, including, like to argue sometimes, its nice. There a lot of advances in spirituality as well, i believe in science and spirituality, but the advancing in spirituality are usually peace and happiness. Scientific factoid: people who believe in something God or nature or whatever live longer. less anxiety and depression, as a result of giving.

  • Information spreads= religion dies.

  • I am an Atheist. I seek, sure. But I also accept reality. Nothing (yet) has indicated that there is a god of any type in existence. I allow for the possiblity of it the same way I allow for the possiblilty of any number of outlandish things (think mythical beings). But I do not, will not, cannot believe in Zeus, gods, or angels until I am provided some sort of evidence. It just makes sense to reject such an assertion until it is proven.

  • i've been an atheist since 11-12 years old, there might be a creator but he's for sure not the one of the bible or the quran

  • am atheist and am not looking for a god.

  • ive been an atheist all my life since i was raised atheist and always thought how its rediculous that people worship some invisible man living up in the sky who watches everything you do

  • My problem is why do christians accept that their parents blatantly lied to them about Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Babies and the Stork, and all other childhood fantasies, but do not doubt the existence of God even though there is more evidence for Santa Claus (the presents under the tree) than there is for God.

  • Not all religions have fear in them. Wicca I would have to say, has no fear. We are not preached to fear deity because they are like our parents and they do not want us to fear them because then it will drive us away. But what am I to say, out of a group of 60 friends, we found that only 12 of us follow a religion; the rest are athiest because the just do not believe in a deity.

  • I appreciate your blessing from human to human and delight in the idea that we can walk away from the old religions and make a new one that is focused on doing good to each other regardless of the existence of a god or any idea of an afterlife. Peace.

  • Im an atheist and i agree with what you have said.

  • Athiesm: A life without imaginary friends.

  • @gpdl00355

Are you atheist anyway? I'm not, its better if you believe in someone in your skies. You will learn more about the reality when your soul rests. That is what.

  • Ok, I must admit I wasn't expecting anything good, but I actually liked the video and I find it relieving to see there's people who can believe in god without becoming fundamentalists robots. I thank you for your blessings.

  • Science and spirituality are very much in tune with each other...Both are searching rather than certain. Both are humbled by how little they know. Only religion makes a person certain to arrogant extremes. It stultifies knowledge, twists wisdom and kills science dead...Religion is the complete antithesis of true spirituality...Science is wonder. Wonder is the spark of spirituality.

  • Why are people becoming more Atheist? Because they are being physically threatened by Islam and therefore think ALL religion is BAD.

  • Rationality usually leads a person to Atheism, Atheism usually leads a person to an Education, an Education usually leads a person to Understanding, and Understanding usually leads a person to Peace.

  • @TheMidnightWolf1 Democracy and constitutional law contributes to atheism aswel. Usually the threat of being tortured for 48 hours and burnt at the steak discourages free thought.

  • A real and undeniable truth is that energy is neither created or destroyed, it simply changes form. Energy is either positively charged or negatively charged and if you have ever been outside before a storm and felt the charged air molecules dancing over your skin you can understand that feeling of being alive comes from the same phenomena. No magic to it, no supernatural, no mysticism, just positive and negative energy, the only choice you have in life is which one to cultivate.

  • No Division + No Discrimination = Peace.

Make the world a better place.

    Become an Atheist today.

  • @BCT071

There are other factors of hate that will NEVER go away.

  • @BCT071 doubt it its human nature like two athiest one flirts with his girl they get in a fight?

    PWND

  • @BCT071 - Atheism for the win! true spirituality, true science, true humanity and nothing but the truth....religion will never offer you these things.

  • @BCT071 Good comment! :)

  • @BCT071

    There are racist Atheists.

  • "There is a God, which is a kind of light that is shared by all living beings"? Why do people think it's clever to just come up with vacuous claims? What could this possibly mean? So replace the wild ideas of one religion with the wild ideas of another. No, people are not becoming "atheist" because they are curious about the existence of god - that statement is internally contradictory and hence nonsense. Atheism is about NATURALISM, that the world is a natural realm, with natural processes.

  • Being at atheist is taking responsibility for your life, beliefs and actions, you pretty much go against society, and on your own.

Its so convinient to operate religion for various individuals, thus manipulate crowd

Yes, religion is biggest business for ages

  • If somebody told you there was a dragon inside a cave and not to go in there or he'd eat you, would you say you dont believe in dragons because youre scared and dont want it to be true or would you say you dont believe in dragons because its unlikely that they exist?

Its the same thing with god. People dont base their beliefs on wants or needs. they base it on truth.

Well, except for religious folks.. they believe in God because they WANT it to be true, not because they think its true.

  • atheists already have the disbelief in deities, so they aren't going to go search for them. though, through scientific discovery you might find your answers through their pursuits.

  • Uh, kind of true. Most of us or not so much sick of religion but sick of christianity and Islam. There are others belief systems that I have read about like pantheism, spiritism, kabalah and all of them make some sort of sense where god is consistant with the word love. None of these three preach silly fairy tales or hell or fear etc. I think most people are sick of xristianity and Islam period.

  • I was all ready to hate this, but you talk a certain amount of sense and you do it with a good heart. If more of the faith community were llike you they would have a much more enjoyable youtube experience.

  • The reason people want to be athiest is because they know if the is A God and he is the creator of the world...They'd have to learn more about Him and and make a conscious decision on whether or not to follow Hi....But but deny His existance in your mind you can disregard his will and commandments and they can live how ever they want with no sense of accountability for their actions...like children....

  • Ridiculous. Atheists are moral, but they come to their morals themselves, rather than from iron-age superstitions - that is they are accountable to THEMSELVES and the LAW (when it comes to things like rape and theft).

Atheists reject accepting other peoples beliefs unconditionally, but rather require some sort of proof or convincing. I mean - if there is a God, then which one? What about if I follow Yahwei only to find I should have followed Allah/Krishna/Buddha/Thor/FSM...

  • On the contrary, many atheists have spent quite a lot of time in churches, reading bibles, looking for evidence of the veracity of scripture and proof of Christ's existence. I know I'm not just speaking for myself when I say that trying to get to "know" God, is what lead me to atheism. The more I studied, the more flaws I found in God's character and his teachings. My initial rejection of Christianity was out of pure moral disgust at the actions God orders/condones in the bible.

  • @codybwan My experience was much the same, I went to church with anyone who invited me, I read all the materials each one gave and I found that the sermons were pretty much the same no matter which denomination I attended. Mostly focusing on the duty of women and children to obey men without question. I decided that I had heard nothing the same few parts over 15 years and it was time to see what the rest of the Bible said, it was the stuff of nightmares! That is what turned me atheist.

  • This rejection lead me to look deeper into science to see if it offered better, more reasonable answers, and most importantly: evidence. As for your comment about atheists wanting to live without accountability for their actions, that's incredibly insulting, and not very honest. I live a very moral life, and I don't need a book to tell me how to do it. Treating people the way they should be treated comes naturally.

  • The biblical idea of "accountability" is actually pretty cowardly, in my opinion. If I kill, steal, lie, murder, commit adultery, etc. the only person I have to answer to is Christ. That is not accountability. He isn't the one I should ask for forgiveness. If Christ wanted the truly righteous to follow him, he wouldn't tell them to ask him for forgiveness, but to ask forgiveness from those they had wronged.

  • Absolutely. Only those who are wronged have the power to forgive, if anybody else says you are forgiven he is a madman - even if he is God! No other being has the right to forgive somebody who has hurt me as if he was the victim, regardless of the state of his mother's hymen. Obviously the idea that this forgiveness could be bought in advance by a "blood sacrifice" of a immortal being is just making the whole idea even more obscene.

  • Wow! Well said...

  • because its easier to be atheist, thats why. But it's smarter to know God exists

  • On what evidence do you "know" God exists? If you can prove it, you can convert a whole lot of atheist.

  • That's the challenge, the Christian God your talking about wants us to find him on his own with no evidence of him in the clear.

Now I ask you, why do you hater-atheists always bash Christians more than other religions? I guarantee that every atheist in here has thought of Christians as a main target rather than most other religions.

If your gonna be hater atheist you have to not only prove there is no evidence of a Christian God, and prove there is no God at all most atheists fail to do this.

  • You're an idiot. Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but you are. Why on Earth should an atheist have to prove there's no evidence of God or that he doesn't exist? That kind of logic is silly.

Can you prove the non-existence of the invisible pink unicorn on Mars? No, you can't. And you shouldn't. It's the ones who claim that such things exist that should prove its existence.

  • @JonBall44 that is easy, even though YouTube is international, most of the responses are written in English, or haven't you noticed that? That means you are on the English version of YouTube, not the Greek or Spanish or any of the others that are available. NOW Think! I know it is hard and it hurts you to do it but ...... WHAT is the most likely reason Christianity would be the focus on the English YouTube channel?

The problem with religion is it makes very small minds with limited scope.

  • I'd say the opposite: being an atheist takes a lot more commitment and self-criticism (keeping up with the advances of science, for instance) than letting your intellect take a nap, or trust your guts (and ignorance). Nothing personal, of course. Life was easier and sweeter when I believed in Santa Claus and most of my serious or deep questions as a child were answered with a non-answer such as "it's a mystery" - and I'm serious about that... luckely not much later I... had thoughts ;-)

  • @bersa888 Why do you have to keep up with science to be an atheist? I'm sure if they found gods it would make international headlines...

  • LOL!

  • I understand what you're saying, and I respect your courage for saying these things. I'm an atheist, not because I'm 'tried' of religion, but ONLY because I don't see evidence for a god.

    Have a nice day.

  • This was a very refreshing little essay.

  • Because people are seeing superstition for the farce it really is. That's why religious people are becoming atheists.

  • the light at the end is the same light within

  • The Christian priests enjoyed a very high social status in the European society. When they became corrupt, they lost everything and just made limited to the churches and seminaries. When the people find the conduct of the religious leaders disappointing then they begin to move towards atheism.

  • As a kid, I was religious, as a teenager I became atheist, now I consider myself quite spiritual. Atheism is just the realization that religion is bullshit and acts as a stepping stone to enlightenment, at least thats how I see it.

  • If you current "spiritualism" doesn't have you believing in gods, you're still an atheist. That's all atheism is: lack of belief in gods.

  • Remember kids:

"Healthy skepticism of religion is dangerous to religion but healthy skepticism of science is exactly what science loves!"

Why is it that so many scientists are (or at least consider themselves) agnostic or atheist? Could there possibly be a connection between gaining a greater understanding of the universe and the conversion to atheism? Think about it.

  • @2somerandomguy2 most do. more credited the scientist more atheist there are in them. atheism is about not maiking falce positives. we dont disclose possibility of any god. we just dont claim that shutch things exists. this is real open mindess.

  • @2somerandomguy2 yes there is the more we understand about our world the more we would not need god

  • Your wisdom is refreshing

  • very true. cut those bullshit with hard fact. but your accent is kind of funny..

  • I would love to see you trying to speak his language, now THAT should funny...

  • Very true. It is those who really and honestly seek the truth that find out that the god's depicted by the organized religions do not exist or are at least not plausible.

  • people are becoming atheists because people are realizing that the same proof there is for a specific deity is the same for Santa Claus, unicorns and the flying spaghetti monster. people are realizing that people made up their gods to explain what they could not and for control.

  • most atheist choose to be atheist, very few were raised, at least in the Americas.

it's just that people have different points of view about things. that's not to be judged, however if we judge christians, oh my!! what a problem!

that's the main reason most of us became atheist, too much hypocrisy in mainstream religions.
