Fuckking Crazzzzyyy asss Solo bro! I have been trying to learn how to make my trumpet SCREAM Like this and I still haven't learned how Ridiculous how you play with such Ease..!!! Respect! LOL Nice iMPROV...
Hi, can you please help me with one thing.i really want to buy a trumpet and learn salsa.
i found a good store in the web. but they are 3-4 different types of trumpet... C and Bb and that. what type should i have, what is the common type for salsa and so on. please help and thx for your time.
@alonsosundsvall Bb Trumpets are the most common for salsa and its a good instrument to begin to learn the trumpet, it will give you the right kind of sound, brightness and edge. C trumpets are usually for more advanced players with Orchestral playing with a darker, fuller sound.
Enjoyed it bro. Don't worry about the stereotypical trumpet players being haters. Good sound, good ideas. Sometimes less is more. Not everyone needs to have a case of note diarrhea....lol.
dude, you're awesome!!! you make it seem so easy and as a trumpet student i know it's not. good luck with your music. you should come to miami,fl sometime and check out the music scene here. there are many awesome trumpet players that definitely deliver when they perform.
very nice solo! think you could send me a copy (if you have one, that is.) of the sheet music, or something. ive tried by looking at the fingerings but at times its difficult to see. anyways, id love a copy or something. thanks, matt.

Everyone says how the mouthpiece does not matter when playing high register...
Did you develop ur high register with the bob reaves or did you work on high register with a big mouthpiece, and then transfer to a shallow mouthpiece??
Dammmnnnnn you got hell of skills man. The few people that are hating are just jealous man.
Damn i want to thank you of inspiring me i will work much harder now. I love latin music. Just jamming man thats the best music there. Please keep playing God Bless
That is a myth was promoted first by with the help of the striking workers. It is not true. The post strike horns are much more consistently good thtn the previous 20 years at least.
@josephmotter Hey very quite good...no !!! very nice solo !!! you are played on a regular Bach 37 but what kind of mouthpiece you're used ? thank you for your answer...Go on like this
I usually never like high note players ... but this is fantastic ... the guy has taste and he has ideas ... so rare in high note players ... I'm a fan
I just got done watching your Nancarrow study #7 video----dude you are amazing, serious chops and a serious sound---let me know if you ever pass through Vegas someday---
I don't care what anyone says I have been playing for 27 years and this guys can play. You see him here for less the 2 minutes and I heard articulation, Scales, Rhythm, and most importantly tone. There were no splits or caks and he knew where he was going. Maynard would be proud and so would Arturo Sandovaland quit frankly so would my Father (Deryck Diffey). Keep up the good work!!!!
o.O Insanity!!!!!! so COOL, CALM! Man you were ripping those notes with easy. Never cam down from the heavenlies. You go t some serious chops. SERIOUS to do that. Great job.
Thanks, I am aware that this is latin music. However, right now this trumpet player is concentrating so much on screaming out high notes, that his solo lacks movement and interest. If he simply spent some time working on developing musical ideas and phrasing, his soloing would improve drastically.
Here we have a world class salsa solo and you say it needs to be more melodic...give me a break! The solo lacks nothing...what do expect him to play? More notes and patterns? This guy is a master at melodic ideas...trust me...I was the other trumpet player on that show.
It doesn't lack movement or interest. He's playing nice ideas. You're original comment was a low blow, you even dissed Maynard at the same time. Be glad that this guy can play like that, don't tear him down because you can't do it.
I agree with "kid". This IS the feel of Latin music. It's hot, it's rythmic, and it screams! All of those bases were covered. It's not meant to sound like a concerto or a movement. Loosen up!!
@josephmotter kinda looks like a Schilke...I use a Schilke 14A4a and I love it!! Great mouthpiece for guys like me with more lip! I was using a Marcinkiewicz E12 *Vizzutti, but the rim was just too sharp. The Schilke has more cushion!!
There's no such thing as a cheater mouthpiece. You use different mouth pieces depending on what you're playing. If you're playing more classical music your most likely going to be using a deeper cup to create that classical sound in a big ensemble but if you're playing jazz or some spicy salsa stuff you're going to want a shallower mouthpiece to make those high notes a little more accessible and to make your chops last longer. Just different equipment.
Better doesn't mean anything at all you geek.Doesn't mean it wasn't a great bit of Trumpet though, cause it fuckin damn well was! Inspiring playing, thankyou josephmotter.
NICE SOLO!!!! I play trumpet too, but nothing close to the awesomeness of this! This also makes me want to go th Hacienda. lol
