I wish they'd run those specials on TV. Not a big fan of the recent one(2000 when Schutlz died-onward) They just don't feel right. With Schultz, there was some magic in those cartoons.
I Forgot the voice actress's name..but I know she appeared in the Brady Bunch.. when Jan wore a black wig. She was the Birthday girl who apologized to Jan for laughing at her wig thinking it was just a joke.
Pamelyn Ferdin, a well known child actress of the 60's and 70's, provided the voice for Lucy in this special, as well as another Peanuts special called "Play It Again, Charlie Brown", and the first Peanuts movie, "A Boy Named Charlie Brown."

Wow, another old school Charlie Brown promo. Are all of these from your personal collection, muttley16, or did you look somewhere and purchase them? Good stuff, but all that crackling and hissing at the end is somewhat irritating.
This special was first broadcast on CBS on June 27, 1969, so this aired about a week before. This promo usually appeared on their local affiliates, with an audio "space" for the local announcer to announce the night and time- and the local station- at :53. The gag about "jumping 30 feet into the air" was taken directly from one of Schulz's daily strips...
lol I remember Lucy scaring Sally by saying "Kindergarten" but I had no idea it was from this special. I saw it when Nickelodeon used to air Charlie Brown cartoons back in the late 90s. Did Nickelodeon air this special or something?
Wait a minute. I've known this one for years and most of those scenes aren't in it. At least not on the video I've always seen of it. And it's right length, so it doesn't seem like anything could have been cut out of it. Plus, I don't see where in the story these scenes coult have been. I don't get it.
i guss marcie star first in there's no time for love charlie brown untill 1972

@Astraldragon1 I remember seeing that. I was watching it on TV Land years ago and I'm like "Hey! That girl once did Lucy's voice". :)

They should make this a Labor Day tradition on CBS like they do with the other holiday-themed Charlie Brown specials.

I've actually never seen this special. Or, if I did, I was too young to have remembered doing so.
But I had the book-and-record version for years. ("You'll know it's time to turn the page when you hear the chimes ring like this...")

I liked Patty and violet so much during the early peanut specials and it made me mad when they were reduced to cameo rolls.

I noticed at 0:09 when Peppermint Patty said "Yo", Violet and Patty were frowning at her.

I like Patty better than Peppermint- Patty.

Why's that. Not offended just find this intriguing, that's all.
Heegoop 2 years ago
Yeah and better yet Patty is hotter than Peppermint Patty.
