Take for instance Calvin Coolidge who CUT taxes. By July of 1921, America came out of the recession that Woodrow Wilson had created the previous four years. When the Dow dropped to 250 in 1929, it wasn't until Eisenhower took office did the Dow climb back to pre-1929 numbers.
Furthermore, Bush did not get America into this mess. You know who is responsible? Yes, you guessed it, the Democrats who have been in power since 2006. The Dems were warned as early as 2002 about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to which Rep. Barney Frank replied "there is no problem there". Its obvious rush never graduated college. The New Deal brought us out of the great depression. Its the only type of plan that can get us out of the mess bush put us in. You want less government? Less taxes? We have tried that since nixon and it got us into this mess. Once you create tax- payer funded "entitlement" programs, they can never be eliminated. This is elementary, not opinion.

Again, it's not the Federal government's job to provide housing or health care. It is and was the Democrats that oversaw the oversight committees that regulated the CRA through Fannie and Freddie. I want to make a correction here. From 1931-1938, Unemployment stayed at 17%. Although Roosevelt DOUBLED federal spending to mitigate the effects of the Great Depression, the result was nil. Take for instance Calvin Coolidge who CUT taxes. By July of 1921, America came out of the recession that Woodrow Wilson had created the previous four years. When the Dow dropped to 250 in 1929, it wasn't until Eisenhower took office did the Dow climb back to pre-1929 numbers.

The New Deal did not bring us out of the Great Depression. World War II brought America out of the Depression. Unemployment was 17.4% in 1933. In 1940, 7 years later, unemployment was still 17%. Even John Maynard Keyes, the great Liberal British economist viewed Roosevelt's New Deal as "retarding economic recovery". So no, the New Deal was demonstrably wrong. Once you create tax- payer funded "entitlement" programs, they can never be eliminated. This is elementary, not opinion.

But World War II was a massive government spending program! My analysis of economics is standard macroeconomics. Pick up any macroeconomics textbook you like and check. When private consumer do not buy and private investors do not invest, then other people do not sell and have no work and eventually no income, when you have no income or expect to have lower or no income then you again buy and invest less. It is vicious cycle. To break this cycle, you need public deficit spending.
