  • Thanks for posting this. I just bought one on ebay. This pedal is apparently no longer available. Stupid, no?

  • HEY GUYS, i got this pedal and its a distortion and fuzz at the same time. I got boss distortion and a big muff and this one way better and cheap.

  • I HACE TO SAY THIS DISTORTION PEDAL REALLY " ROCKS!!!" , IS MUCH BETTER THAN MY BOSS DS-1 AND SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR WITH MY BRUTE DRIVE DISTORTION FROM E.W.S ( NOT BETTER ). Great tone , 2 EQ knobs , true by pass, metal case and jacks. HONESTLY , THIS PEDAL KICKS BOSS DS-1 ASS !! YOU CAN EVEN BOOST YOUR AMP WITH THIS PEDAL AND SOUND FANTASTIC. 110% RECOMENDED.

WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY? CHEAP PEDAL BUT SOUNDS LIKE A BOUTIQUE ONE.

  • great review, and the pedal really sounds good

  • Mine doesn´t sound like that. I´m using an Epiphone SG400 and a Randall SC100 and it sounds much more harshy... bad :(

  • @chumeiperlebys try upgrading your pickups, rolling down your tone pots, or screwing with the eq on your amp.

  • Lol, that was almost TNT by ACDC when you flipped it on XD

  • clean is a bit thin for my taste, but drive i solid =) great review

  • Hi Robert

    This one or the FAB?

  • @geckobaldy This one

  • @rotren What are the main differences in sound pls and what makes this one better? You make them both sound great.

    Thankyou

  • @geckobaldy Almost impossible to describe sound, but the main thing is the Cool Cat has much better physical design, and will last a long time. It's also true bypass. Better quality overall.

  • @geckobaldy Want some advice on pedals to get? Of COURSE, the DS-1 by Boss has to be the best thing you can do because it's very inexpensive, but it's got such a professional tone that artists such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani use. I got me a FAB for half the price of a DS-1 and regretted it immediately

  • @FreeHugs330 this isnt the fab, so why would you compare the ds-1 to a fab. this is the cool cat d-cd-1 which is nothing like the plastic piece of shit 18 dollar fab... no one cares about your embarrassing venture purchasing a fab.

  • @mstrkrftjr Well when I first got it, I knew NOTHING about guitar tones and I'm not exactly rich =/ and I brought up the FAB because he asked which one was better. If you're just going to come on here, with hardly a sense of punctuation or consideration, just to be a jerk then get a life. I was not even offended by this post because of your lask of taste. If you're going to bully someone, have a little class. It MIGHT have broken my heart <3

  • @FreeHugs330 was i trying to offend you? if you know nothing about guitars you should quietly go ahead and shut the fuck up. and quit being such a pussy... a jerk and telling me to get a life? if you know nothing about guitar tones why dont you just go ahead and shut the fuck up again. don't even bother replying your just wasting your own time.

  • @mstrkrftjr Well you should probably get your thong out of your ass and not even bother replying if you claim I am wasting my time. And how am I a pussy? Last time I checked, I am a human being with logic, feelings, and a heart. Also, last time I checked, I don't even have one so just follow your own advice and shut the fuck up. As a matter of fact, don't, because I enjoy putting up an argument against an idiot on the internet because it makes me laugh when idiots like you try to start a fight

  • @FreeHugs330 no kidding, getting insulted by people like me must give you a boner..

  • @mstrkrftjr Wow, only 10 year olds and failures say that ind of shit so I'm done wasting my time on a failure or some kid who learned a cool new word, bye

  • @FreeHugs330 no i'm pretty sure anyone with a sense of humor and humility would say a joke like that ahah, you get so wound up over nothing wanna just do everyone a favour, just go ahead and give up. cheers.

    ;)

  • @mstrkrftjr If all your head is filled with is being online all the time and talking about boners, who is the one who needs to give up? I'm not even wound up over this, I laughed my ass off behind MY screen. What about you? Bet you look like a zombie, with the same apathetic look on your face like you're on xanax because your parents never loved you <3

  • @FreeHugs330 lawl seeing as your an emo who keeps writing hearts and looks like a total freak i'd say so, and naw mang i'd never take prescription meds shit's a waste of money. stick with the naturals... and a zombie? i'm the one laughing the entire time at your stupidity & lack of basic social skills. your the one constantly bringing up boners which i happend to mention once.. and you got all chapped over nothing..your the one writing page long replies. freehugs? your a fucking joke.

  • @mstrkrftjrThe response you just gave me was the longer than my last one. And I know I'm emo =) I's my label to society I guess. I'm a nice person to everyone who will get to know me instead of coming on here being an asshole for no reason. You're the reason the worls is falling to ruins, the reason why people are suffering far away and I bet you don't give a shit because you're a selfish asswipe. It may look like I'm whining through text, but you don't see me behind the screen so try again

  • @mstrkrftjr the funny thing is it doesn't look like he actually compared the DS-1 to the fab distortion at all, he was just telling someone who was asking about the fab not to get one, and recommending the DS-1 instead.

  • what amp are you using?

  • @Mastahboys Heatseeker 18

  • i have a question for anyone willing to answer there is a distortion buttton my practice traynor amp but this would still sound better than what my amp is already equipped with right ?

  • i bought a new cd1after i saw this video and i think mine might be defective. i cant even turn the volume up past 3 or it completely blows out all other levels i have. then it only sounds good with the treble all the way up. all the other tonal ranges sound like utter crap. but this video sounds amazing.

  • i tried this pedal with a Tokai telecaster in a store, i could go from blues licks and solos to highspeed Paul gilbert licks and it sounds great

  • I use one of these for bass, and it's awesome!

    Great video!

  • Nice - ordering one tonight! Thanks

  • ive been thinking about gettin a new pedal and i want i big, full sound, for mainly rythym. im likin the sound of this pedal. bt are there any other recomendations or should i go for this. would like to hear some responses. the music i play is stuff like biffy clyro, foo fighters, arctic monkeys. just basic guitar sound is really what im lookin for. i like the big marshall style sound that this makes

  • Very nice sound! I'm really fan of Danelectro's pedals.

To be good don't need to be expensive. =D

  • wuts the difference between this one and the metal distortion pedal?

i really want to get a good pedal to boost my distortion so palm muting sounds really punchy and solos shine. tones i would like are rhythym : lamb of god, whitechapel, a7x, etc.

solos: buckethead, paul gilbert, steve vai, john petrucci, etc.

is this a good pedal that i can settle with or should i look somewhere else?

  • This pedal sounds AMAZING for the price. I'm sure it has a lot to do with your set-up, guitars and playing as well.

Loved the tone and the playing.

Which Lava cables are you using??

    Thanks heaps..

  • is this pedal good for hendrix and srv on a strat. if not what is the best option from the cool cat range.

  • @dchim2 Those two have completely different sound. This or fuzz for Hendrix, Cool Cat drive or Transparent overdrive for SRV. Both need some tweaking on the pedal to get the right sound but thats true with any equipment.

  • hhmmm...wads amplifier r u using??

  • nice vid..i also have that kind of distortion,,i just have one question, why is it every time i turn on my distortion there is this destructing sound (like a screaming guitar) i just want to know, is it my distortion?or my amp?hope u cud help me. thanks

  • Very Ac/Dc sounding, i quite like it!

  • Excellent demo, excellent playing, excellent sound...i just ordered one..thanks !!!

  • Great playing and HD sound & vision, sets the standard for Youtube reviews! Nice work.

  • which guitar are you?

  • I have the CC Vibe, the CC Distortion and the CC Tremolo. I like them all. The CC Vibe boosts the volume but it's ok because with me!

I recommend these pedals!! I should try to grab the CC Transparent OD... :)

  • youre cool robert

  • Thanks for the video...good trial...

What do you think of engaging this pedal after a Ts808? I'm trying to reach a sound similar to steve morse in "sometimes i fell like screamin" (the solo part). Thanks.

  • Do you need a noise supressor or something? i wanna buy some stompboxes, but im afraid from the annoying hum...

    Nice vid...

  • interesting tapping at 9:37, sounds kinda satriani, which is what im going to buy this pedal for :)

  • no it wouldnt :/

  • @weerpool14 hmmmm....... depends on how you use it

  • i am loving the crunch. I'm getting a Dsl401. I'm wondering if buying this would make a difference. Could I get metal? I don't know a lot about this stuff

  • depends on the type of metal. Either way, if youre playing an already distorted amp, an od or distortion will get ya some metal..but watch for feedback or excessive noise and get a noise gate

  • do you think will make a great difference between this sound than with a solid state amp with a good clean chanel ?? i know every one says "there is no comparison btwn tubes and solidstats" but would they really suck on a solidst??

  • What a solid state amp will never give you is the dynamic of a tube amp, even with the best pedal on earth. It means you'll always need more power to feel the same subjective sensation of loudness with a solid state amp.

Some compare this pedal to the MI audio Crunchbox but the COOL CAT seems to sound more harsh, doesn't it ?

  • indeed, I think they sound harsh compared to every pedal they tried to copy; on the other hand some people think that what they copied sounds muddy. I think these pedals are very usable, but not as usable as what they are or claim to be copies of; but it might be the case for others!

  • @ATrizte

prolly, it would sound really harsh and bad.

if it was on a completely clean channel then it might be alright

  • Wow. I like it. And this is coming from a distortion pedal hater.

  • dam, these demos are too short (:

  • Rotren, awesome vid and I have a bunch of the danelectro pedals too, I think they are awesome for the price (can get em online for cheap) I am a guitarist that can't afford much but these pedals do rock and they won't break the bank....I sound like a commercial but I am just a guy that likes to make noise!!

  • Could you put the price in the description for the lazy asses like me? ^^ haha cheers mate, great riffs btw

  • its about £30

  • Robert, your riffs are very cool.

  • sounds great! So...what happened to the pedal at about 1:15? Did it turn itself off or was that a video edit?

  • Haha, cool huh? Yes, it was a video edit... ;) or maybe I pressed the pedal so fast you couldn't see my hand! Chuck Norris style!

  • nice

  • You just bought all the cool cat pedals? :-) Was thinking about doing the same as they are so inexpensive :d .. If you would only buy 3, which 3 would you buy?

  • Tremolo, Transparent Overdrive, Distortion

  • does the transparent overdrive stack well with the distortion do you know? or would it be better with the drive?

  • great!

  • great tone!

  • nice
