Jim Bob was the cool Walton, he had a tatoo and built his own car, distilled his own fuel and ran the antenna for the first television and had a ham radio that reached England.
Does anybody know what season features this theme? If I had to guess it's probably from the 9th (and final) season, since it's definitely not the 1st (unique in its own way) or any of the later ones.
This series was one of my favoirtes and then along came The Little House on The Prarie. Both wonderful tv shows. We will never see the likes of them again.
back in those days most everybody made homemade booze...thats the recipe...bootleg booze...my family made it too...and everybody had a family handed down recipe...wine...beer... whiskey...you just had to know who made the stuff...some of those old brews could kill you...
I have to say that this was an all time fav TV show of mine...........Getting back to the way we were. A much simpler timee. No Barrack, No Hillary. No politics, buildings being crashed into, unethical doings on Wall Street............I can go on and on.......Please, if you havent seen an episode of the Waltons, do so before you make a bad reply back to this post.....I be ready....lol....
i grew up on a farm like this...you always had grandpa and grandma around...and we were close to our family...it was a nice life to grow up...we picked berries...for jam...that my mom made...it was a good country life...
wow, what a contrast from how i grew up, in a inner city, grandpa had died young in the pits, grandma was to scared to go out at night. pa was an unemployed drunk, ma worked herself to an early grave lookin after us 7 kids. and we went picking coal off the streets after the goal merchant had been....ahhh the good old days
life was not easy on the farm...we worked hard on and off the farm...just to keep the place...we were and are not simpletons...it was having a strong family...that made living on a farm...a good way of life...WOW
it was 140 acres...and you could pick peaches from the tree and apples too...we still own the farm...but we trouble with local developments...when i was growing up i never knew anything but that we lived on a farm and we could just walk out into a grove and pick or gather fruit and vegetables...but the neighbors were hard to get along with... we had nice gardens where we grew our our vegetables...we sold watercress...have you ever smelled fresh watercress...thats what i am talking about...
on the fringes of our farm new people moved in that were not used to farms...they wanted McMansions and country life...with the grand views...they forgot that people haved lived on and enjoyed farm life for years...they started dumping garbage on our property...and complaining...about roosters crowing...and cows...and tractors...we had to get a Right to Farm ordnance passed so we could still run our farm...we never bothered anyone...but we sure did get bothered...
what i can tell you is this...it was the biggest place you can imagine...fields...fresh cold water springs that you could drink from...and peace and quiet...in summer the fruits would get ripe we had mulberries...strawberries...apples peaches...blackberries...of course there was poisin ivey...i visit the valley in virginia where the real waltons lived...and it is nice there too...thats all i can tell you...
I remember watching as a child with my family when it first ran. I love shows like this and "Little House On The Prairie." It is good we get the Hallmark channel because I can enjoy these shows again practically every day! Oh, always watch "The Homecoming" every Christmas!
Thanks for posting this. The Waltons is the best show ever done on TV--The cast, the writing, the set, the costumes, the production design, the acting--Brilliant--every time!!
You gotta love the Waltons. Family unity comes from love and respect. It might look sugary to some people, but that's the kind of sugar that is healthy. Thanks.
My mom and me loved this show! i used to watch it with her when i was really little, but then it stopped showing on t.v. =( Which really sucked. i want it to come back on!
Great show & characters, part of my childhood was watching the Walton's every Monday night. Sadly America & the World has gone somewhere else, happier days then. Thanks for video
I like this show alot. I am 25 years almost 26 when I watch these old epsodes it remids me of my grandparents younger days. Why did you not show The Grandparents of Olivia Walton?
Thanks very much for making this .. The Waltons were like another part of my family when I was growing up, aspirational in some ways ... happy memories
Several years ago I was in Schuyler, VA which was the real home of the Waltons. We even stopped in the general store they patterned Godsey's store after and bought a few things. The Walton home is really pretty ordinary. We were told Jim-Bob still took care of the home and if we were around at the right time he'd let us in and show us around, but he wasn't there.
great short tribute well done. i loved this series which i saw on BBC1 during the 70's. its a lovely series. fav episode is the 'the fledgling' i never forgot that. a truly remarkable show which we dont see the like on tv anymore sadly. thank you
i was way too young to remember this show but i do remember watching the reruns with my pop-pop! this show brings back so many memories. and John (Sr.) reminds me so much of all the pictures i've seen of my pop-pop when he was a younger man. thank you so very much for making/ posting this!!
I had the privilage to meet Ellen Corby, by chance, sitting in a shop near Farmer's Market in L.A., soon after the series end. A very sweet lady, with even sparklier blue eyes than we saw on the tv~ You're Ellen Corby, right?, said I. She motioned with a twinkle as if to say "Say again?" I did, adding You're MY Grandma TOO! She glowed, reaching up to hug me. She could hardly hear, or speak, but left me with a vivid memory of a special lady, just as we knew her to be :)
Ellen COrby was a great actress. If you ever catch the episodes of either Andy Griffith or The Beverly Hillbillies that she was on you will have a good laugh! A very funny lady!
I thinl I'm gonna cry.I loved this show. We'd all sit together and watched it.Never missed an episode. The tune alone gets me all emotional.Ellen Corby was indeed a fine actress. And as funny as Irene Handle in The BHs.I think she also appeared on & off in Peticote Junction.
Cheers thanks for posting this. Love the Waltons. Its in times like these it is nice to go back to when things and life were less complicated. Thanks again :)
The family it was based on wasn't called Walton, but if you watch the credits carefully you will see the name of the person whose life it was based on. Thanks so much for posting this clip, the series wasn't everybody's cup of tea, but I loved it.
I STILL love this show, who ever did the casting, did a brilliant job. The characters where very real to me as a child. I envied life among the wilderness...I live in the mountains now but still have to envision that wonderful front porch the Waltons family had... (sigh)
if you type in The Waltons in google you will see information on the real Walton Family and probably see pictures of the real house, general store, etc, the tour. If your ever in Virginia you should go there.
Nice job on the video! My grandparents used to tell me stories of what it was like to live through the depression and between those stories and watching the Waltons, I definitely learned a lot about those times. Maybe the kids today should take note and see what it was like to live during those times. Maybe then they wouldn't be so greedy and learn to appreciate what they have.
You know the Waltons are based on a The Real Walton Family in Virginia, Ive been up to see the tour of the real house and the general store, nice little town
I heard alot about this show but I never saw it, because I was so in love with Little House. However, recently my curiosity about The Waltons was aroused, so I purchased the First Season DVD. I checked out a few episodes, and I loved them! The chemistry between the actors was so real and genuine. This was a fascinating and terrific show! I'm still learning more about them, though, so if anybody has any websites about them please let me know. I love what I'm seeing so far though.
My brother was a prop builder on this show, and I got to visit Warner Brothers Studios to watch them film an episode. I accidentally got in the way of where they were filming, when I thought I had gotten out of the way...:D
