@maayaa77 dont talk rubbish pal. he did no such thing you clown!! I know as i trained with this teacher. Yes he is a great teacher and I have the highest admiration for him, but for god sake dont talk complete and utter crap. Jackie Chan and Jet Li are good friends with him, BUT JACKIE IS A PEKING OPERA GRADUATE AND JET LI WAS A STUDENT OF WU BIN. Next time get youre facts straight. By saying this shit you are embarassing Chen sifu with trumped up lies about him.
Hmm, nice kicks! Wish i could do that! When does taichi become kungfu - i guess there is continuity, but our mind tries to divide all the time. Also is it wrong to demo at speed 'to show off'? Why not so long as internal awareness is maintained. I think it is difficult though - internal awareness becomes replaced with habit which by definition is without complete awareness. Also i think it is perhaps harder to perform a form very slowly, and maintain the 'flow' (illusion?) of speed. Nice vid.
It becomes kungfu when you put alot of time(years) into it. That's all kungfu is, something you put years into perfecting. ex: Kobe Bryant's kungfu is basketball. You see?
You practice to your breathing. If your a slow breather, then you normally practice slower. If your a fast breather, you will normally practice faster. Chen style has fast spots, thats why at times this video goes fast a little bit not just to show off.
Chen style has more fa jin(snappy short energy like full speed punches and kicks), but it is not generally "slower" or "faster" than other family styles. The exception is the Pao Chui(2nd routine, Cannon Fist), which is almost all flat out punching and jumping and kicking and the applications are very obvious.
All that said, this performance looked really rushed.
Chen is generally faster then Yang or Wu and is often practiced that way. Demonstrations though are often done as slow as Yang style. I'm not sure why, perhaps people are just used to it. It take so much more effort to apply the principles when you speed the form up, but even Yang should be practiced at a gradually increased speed to learn how to move "at speed" the same way as "at practice".
My friend had a book writed about "TaiChi Quan(fist). Dao(board? sword). Jian(sword). Gan or may be should said Chang(spear) and 散手San Shou(sorry!no idea how to say SanShou in English). This book was first printed in 1943 Feberary 5th. The one I saw was reprinted in 1984 March.
In this book, Yang style is not a slow style TaiChi. It's a very powerful one. There were several different ways to practice Yang's TaiChi. So, the one(Yang's) we know now, it's not the Whole idea about Yang's Tai Chi.
This teacher taught jacki chan and some of jet li His wushu teaching is the best !

Perfect practice is harder to do in my opinion.
