Paul Dano is probably one of the best actors from the Generation Y (people born after 1980 and before 2000) group of actors and actresses. That's saying a lot because I think in general most actors/actresses born after 1980 are terrible. And I'm Generation Y myself. Most of them come off as emos, Disney kids or people getting by on looks with little talent.

Dano's performance in TWBB shocked me. Powerful acting. He managed to keep up with Daniel Day-Lewis. Kudos.

@A86 Well put, my friend. This kid's got some major talent. I first saw him in LIE, which was an unknown indie film before Dano was noticed. It was an incredibly difficult role and he pulled it off with phenomenal success, so I kept an eye out for him. Along came "Little Miss Sunshine" and "There Will Be Blood," and he finally got his well-deserved recognition. I foresee Oscar success, and I've been wondering why he hasn't been nominated yet. His performance makes the movies he's been in.

I agree it's peculiar he hasn't been mentioned for that yet. I think part of it might be age discrimination. Most people nominated for Oscars tend to be older actors who have been in more movies.
