I think Casey told her dad something happened to Caylee, and they didn't inform Cindy. George is pretending he knows nothing so his wife doesn't go even more crazy. Since Casey knows her fate is miserable, she and her attorney hatched this elaborate lie. He felt guilty, so he called the cops about the gas cans to at least make some sort of effort.

When he walks up in the background more calm like well call the police and she screams something like I did call them, then maybe that's because he was a cop. Then when he called Lee to go to the house to be with Cindy like did he know what she was going to find, and some of those first media appearances where it looked like there was something he and Cindy were avoiding revealing or something.

I once had a friend who was a compulsive liar-about little or big things. She bought us all nice things & later we found out she'd been stealing her mom's checks & cashing them to buy the gifts.
