Very few have done any justice to any Larry Norman tune. I think you did an excellent job. I am sure that Larry smiles when you sing this. Personally, I think you should do a few other Norman songs! You have a beautiful voice, and I think your guitar playing is as good (only wish I could play).
This song is in my all time favorite songs.....and this Boy from Australia loves your cover and is inspired someone your age loves it and plays it so well.
Your voice, considering how sick you sounded at the start, covers this song quite impressively. It's been my favorite Norman tune for nearly 30 years now and I never tire of hearing it. Great choice --- you got my vote for excellency.
I just watched your video for The Weepies' "Nobody Knows Me At All" and left a comment. Was perusing some of your other videos (interesting and eclectic song choices), but this one really surprised me. I first saw Larry in concert probably before you were born... he was quite a character. I still remember something he said then... "Don't take my word for it and just believe what I'm saying... look it up in the Bible for yourself." You really are a good singer... I'll check out some more.
Funny how certain songs can cross generations and nothing much has changed. Wow 38 years ago. What have we really learned? If we take just one thing from that song make it the last line. God Bless.
nice to know i wasnt the only one raised on larry. its one of the only positive things my dads ever done in my life - introduce me to larry. im surprised our copy of the "home at last" concert tape still works cause of how much we watched it. its in those moments that i actually get to see my dad for who he really is. my dad unfortunately is an alcoholic and like any disease it takes good people. But Larry's music brings out the good in my dad and i thank God for that.
never heard this song and i'm old....and never heard of Larry Norman. good song no doubt. just a little "constructive" criticism on your guitar playing. quit hacking at the guitar. the guitar is a beautiful instrument, treat it like a lady. your concentrating on the song but you should also be thinking about that poor guitar.....
i say this cause it was once said to me cause i used to be a hack also. finess has taken over my guitarness......
Larry Norman has written a wealth of good songs...he recently passed away, but his music lives on.
Yes, I will readily admit to being a guitar "hacker"! I've only been playing guitar for about a year, and I still tend to treat it like a percussion instrument rather than a stringed instrument. I tend to take out some angst once I get going! Thank you for your construtive criticism--I appreciate it! I certainly will work on developing a little finesse! ;-) Thanks again!
You have a nice voice. Your guitar playing would sound even better if you put the suspended chords in at the beginning and throughout. (as per the recording!)
"Why are the rich more equal than others?" asks Larry. I think everybody knows that answer including Larry himself. "Animal Farm" by George Orwell will answer your doubts. Nice singing, Leesha. Good memory :-D
I have to say that the webcam sound and the stuffed sinuses didn't impair my enjoyment of this at all. I didn't know the song before and your version now has the distinct advantage of being the first I've heard. I can imagine telling people ... 'Ah, I like LeehaHarvey's version best.' Nice work!
Feel free! I love this song too, obviously! I have a version by Big Tent Revival that was on a Larry Norman tribute CD. I haven't ever heard the Steve Camp version.
Thanks for the song :) I really enjoy your videos :)
I had my own dose of social conscience last week when I heard a homeless guy make a joke, although when he said it I wasn't laughing, just got me thinking ... "Life is like a shit sandwich. The more bread you have, the less shit you have to eat."
I've heard that saying before, but it came out of the mouth of a fairly wealthy man. I guess even when you've got it, it never seems like enough. I like the old Proverb, "Give me neither poverty nor riches..."
Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it!
You Americans ... such brilliance ... would love to see Larry one day-you are living proof of his great legacy.
Praise from Down Under. Great cover.
(PS: We Aussies are and have always been with you - in WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Irag ... the soldiers just do their duty. But as an ex-soldier; war is WRONG.))
My folks introduced me to his songs when I was 11 or 12 (so about 15-16 years ago!). It's only been in the last five years or so, though, that I've begun to truly appreciate what he was singing about! Thanks for watching!
You make a CUTE train wreck... hmmm... wait a minute, what would that be like? All that carnage, destruction, death... with a cute little bunny sitting on top of the dead, mangled engineer! Sorry... I have a strange idea of what's funny. Larry Norman! I haven't thought of him in so long - cool! Great job Leesha!
There is no better therapy than to put the kids to bed and return to our first love. I am so familiar with that worn out look, but we dont care as long as we can do what our bones cry out to do!! Thanks for brightening up my work day!
Fabulous cover....glad to see, after quite a lot of you tube searching today, that the devil doesn't have all the good music.
I think you do this song really well, I think Larry Norman would have loved this cover.

As an Atheist, I love these lyrics anyway. Socially conscience songs are relevant across all faiths and peoples Excellent cover.
