@grubbiemac He didn't. He played with several other bands before Chas and Dave. He was also a very busy session musician; he played on innumerable recodings, right across the Rock spectrum.
While reading this, (with sound off), I'm listening to "Safety in Numbers" off "Tracks", and all these years later I still can't believe the jaw-dropping precise killer (without the help of distortion), incredible soloing! And Albert's great voice and sensitive songwriting on "Roadshow" and the absolutely beautiful "Rhyme and Time! YES!!!!!
This was about the second single i bought back in 1971 when i was 15. I had just started working. Bought it from a little record shop in Liverpool road, Stoke-on-trent. An all time classic band.... By the way i was a young skinhead but loved all types of good music.
@philwear Hi Phil(?), The great album "Tracks" is finally out on cd, and includes "Warming up...." plus "Silver Mine" as bonus tracks. You can get it on Amazon, or wherever.
@philwear don't know if previous message sent (I'm new to youtube) but "Tracks" is on cd, finally, and includes this and "Silver mine" as bonus tracks.
It was mimed and taped in acountry Club near Bristol. I was there and had given the guitar used by Albert (Mosrite 12 string electric) to him two nights before.
Great times and lots of fun. All got pretty drunk the night before and Chas played some rousing Jerry Lee Lewis stuff on the piano that night. Ray will sure remeber!!
Fuck! Wait ages to see the vid and they were miming! If you don't believe me, check out the fact that the cowbell has tape on it, the lead guitarist is not even plugged into anything and the pianist is two thirds away from where he should be half the time. My memories of OGWT being live have now been shattered.
Something to do with the cameraman's ears I think - they recorded it as live then mimed to that recording in the studio - just happened in the first series I think. Great sound tho!
Glad to see this one again ! Great to see a group of guys enjoying their music so much. Sense of togetherness rarely seen today. Chas Hodges - one of the best !
might sound a little over the top but i personally think this is one of the best songs ive ever heard......has everything...have to listen to it everyday!
Increibleu!!!!!!!!!!! My mind is threu, and I am stuck in this musical medical geu!!!!!!!!!

Brilliant - this takes me back.
Great guitar licks on this and good to se the 'youngish' Albert Lee.
HH&F were some band and thank God I saw them 'live' years ago at the Kirklevington Country Club, in Yarm.

Sad that Chas and Dave have split up, though. Trivia Question: what or who connects Chas Hodges (bassist/vocals here) to Buckingham Palace?
No prizes, I'm afraid and it is a bit of a convoluted link (play on words involved)
:-D
