  • best elmsley count tutorial yet. please do more like these! much thanks.

  • dude u make good tutorials and ur freaking hilarious.thanks it helped a lot

  • that was very good.

Ps. I dont like the english accent (sorry) i am amerikan

  • @Murloc999 and just showed it in your spelling

  • thank you very much!!!

  • @Spulegence And seriously, no offense to you :) Just an advice :D.

  • Thanks andyfield. As a magician, i had been pondering to do this basic sleight in a diagonal or sideway, because, i saw a few professional magicians doing it more towards sideway and diagonal to a small extend. This make me in doubt to do which way. I could do both just that im better and more natural in the diagonal. After watching your video, my final decision is to do it diagonally.

  • click my name subscribe and comment on all my vids ill have some new and better ones coming soon

  • This is the best elmsley count i can find on youtube!!!

    (Its true)

  • Thanks man u the best it took me some time but I got it u rue

  • I love to the esmley counts but I need more practise. Is it better do it with old or new cards? With completely new cards it slips....

  • What confuses me is you don't at all say where the turned up card should end up in the deck after the count. Knowing this would make it all much easier to understand.

  • @markeymark101 the turned up card always ends at the bottom and if you like you can get it back to were it was by making a jordan count

  • andy the best magician on youtube!!!!!! hubs up if u agree

  • Thankyou soooo muuuch!!!! I found a tutorial of this that is simple and show all angles and is well explained too! This tutorial is even better than mismag's tutorial!

  • This was Best cardtrickutorisl or wüstende including cards i've Everest seen

  • thank you andy

  • OMG you fucking legend

  • Thanks a lot thats a very good tutorial!

  • o wait also the card should end up in the 4th position at the end rite?

  • wait i'm not entirely dure do u start with 5 cards or 4 cards and if u start with 4 cards including the 1 ur hiding how do u end up wit 4 cards counted?

  • FINALLY now I know how to you're supposed to do it. Great video! I was gonna download another tutorial about elmsley count and then replay it in super slow-motion. lol cause they do it so fast

  • Comment removed

  • very interesting tips, thank you

  • great tutorial, but i just cant "push" off enough cards, they end up coming apart. practice eh?

  • This is by far the best elmsley count tutorial on the internet. Very well done and very helpful. I struggled with Elsmley counts until this video. Thanks.

  • @MagicGooch09 same :)

  • Ahh, going diagonally really helps. I was going sideways for the longest time ever. Now Im doing fine. Thanks Andy! Your the best! (And handsomest)

  • Good video, however, it would've been a lot more helpful, if you had shot it from the performer's rather than the spectator's perspective.

  • you really suck........lol jkjk, i think you and mismag822 are the best card magicians in the world! :D i subbed!

  • really cool ! , thansk !

  • i think the best and easy elmsley count ever on u tube

  • thank u soooo much, i watched 1000videos on how to do it but couldn't understand, but thanx 2 u i get it, i am subscribing

  • @andyfieldmagic yes u are, ur video was the best video on youtube..

  • @andymismag14 is your name just a combination of andyfieldmagic and mismag822?

  • can't even peel off one card without the face-up card coming into view... the second always slides with it?

  • thank you sir! Bit more practice for ME!

  • @andyfieldmagic hahahahaha good one andy

  • It acually works!!!

  • nice vid but you seem angry at us.

  • what card tricks can you use with this? i like this alot

  • im so confused with the elmsley count!

  • Yes! At last! For some reason I haven't been able to do a really smooth elmsley count in real time speed, but this tutorial made 'the impossible possible', just like the commercial promised! Or was that Coke Zero? Anyways, thanks a lot Andy! Great tutorial, best I've seen.

  • @DaTux91 Actually, after this vid, it goes completely automatic. You know why? I was using my hands like a lefty should and I'm right-handed... Pretty critical it seems. So thanks again Andy, I now can perform a very good Elmsley Count (I'm not gonna say perfect :p).

  • I am right handed but I can do my tricks better like I was lefty. like this count is easier to me to put the cards on the left and and count them with my right hand.. any help?

  • @andyfieldmagic ya right................

  • AMAZING!!!!!

  • mismagic does it from the side, which u say its wrong, even though he is a very good magician. But i rather ur way anyway, it looks much better, helped me alot. =]

  • @coolguyusman , how rude

  • What's the diffrence between Retro Count and Elmsley Count ?

  • thanks so much check out my tutorials on tricks

  • iv only just noticed hes standing up during this performance

  • Why is it, that I'm normally right handed, but I simply can't do anything with cards that requires some techique. I do EVERYTHING with my left hand. Right is there just to take cards and maybe put them back a few times.

Should I force myself to use my right hand instead?

  • @CactusInButt I obviously mean't that I an't do anything that requires technique with my RIGHT hand. Left is OK so far :D

  • I could never do the elmsley count until today... Now I've seen this I finally understand it! Thanks SO MUCH!! =D

  • lol, the previous video i saw before this one, i told the guy doing his elmsly count not to end up with the cards in the same hand as he started with them in, since then the audience cant actually be "sure" that all cards have been shown/moved and here you say it again :)

    im a pro, nice ;)

  • @N3CR1S - That tip was given to me by one of the top card men in the world. It is so simple to do but most magicians will ignor it because they are naturally lazy. So it'll be just me and you that know. :)

  • OMG!! I was really having problems to do the ELMSLEY's COUNT :)

    Thank you so much!!

Your many tips helped a lot!!

    Keep rocking on magic...

    See you next time ;D

  • thanks andy

  • This tutorial is really good but my cards are so WIDE they are poker cards so its hard to do tricks or something else...

  • Hahah. No offense to you andy, but ur little pro tip there, not very pro, i always have done it like that, it's more natural that way, the other way, is just weird. lol. good vid though.

  • In other words you've just got used to practacing it incorrectly for a long time and can't be bothered to change. - Don't worry - you will not be on your own.............

  • Didn't you, in the vid, tell us to change it to that way?? Or wat. So now ur saying that's incorect to do it the way u told us.

  • @Spulegence No offense to you. Ending on the other hand is a natural way to count, this tip is for those who had been doing it wrongly. I am glad that i had been doing it correctly all along, because i know making changes to sleight which you thought you had been practising correctly is difficult. Don't you find it weird ending on the same hand? You could count it infinitely, and it is very suspicious. Thats not a right way to do elmsley count. Do the correct way to achieve higher lvl :).

  • @Spulegence just because he is giving advice to not do what you do, doesnt mean you have to be a cunt. he is trying to help people, not prove he is superior to anybody.

  • perfect tutorial andy!!.... THANKS SO MUCH!!!

  • @MrRubiks98

get newer cards, if u got an old deck it's harder to do

  • Andy great tutorial. do you like blue or red cards more?

  • is it just me or is it easier to hold the pack with your left hand and count with your right if ur right handed ?

  • @ygvrf

I've found it can be done either way, I'm right handed and I can do the count using both hands, I'm more comfortable holding in my right hand.

Another thing I found is not to over practive too much in one session, once you have the basic idea of what you need to do, stop for a while. Then the next day when you go to practice again you will find yourself more fluid, and in my case it showed me which was more easy to use.

  • awesome i cant wait to be this smooth and fluid :D ty andy

  • andy, this is the best emsley count video tutorial on internet.I've been searching on how to perform it, and I'm now getting better especially with the tips you provide at the end. congratulations

  • jack of diamonds

  • kalisse sa marche pas kriss!!

  • bicycle cards reaaalllyyyy help with elmsly counts

    thank you andy =D

  • Do you use poker cards?

  • like most magic/card tricks it's so frustrating until you suddenly click. I got my pack of bicycle cards today and this was the first on my list to learn (did a lot of card tricks as a kid but that was about 15 years ago)

I was just practicing over and over until it just suddenly worked, the main problem I have is balancing the amount of grip, good video just need the practice now

  • thanks a lot, but even if i am right handed i am more used to do the count using different hands as you do...

  • wats the trick? like wats the purpose of it? i wanna learn it but i dont really get wat the trick is??

  • @silverbullet51 it's for tricks, hiding a card. like saying "i got all 4 aces" but really you don't, u might have an extra card, then u do the elmsly count and you hide the card =)

  • oh oke dokey i got it now thx! man!

  • @andyfieldmagic Actually Ms. Fields is the best looking magician on Youtube.

  • explained very clearly... thanks!

  • @andyfieldmagic true that

  • Andy is more skilled though

  • true

  • hehe if he did than why did mismag822 come first?

  • Very good, you explain it so clear and you get every little detail in there. thanks!

  • @coolguyusman loool Mismag822 has learned almost everything from Andyfieldmagic so stop that shit talk.

  • @coolguyusman they are both good, but i perfer andy, he is more in depth

  • @coolguyusman andyfieldmagic's handling of the cards is MUCH smoother and more fluent then mismag822 and he also gives better tutorials to allow the people that watch the videos to work towards the same smoothness.

  • @coolguyusman i personally think andy is way better with the cards, but mismag822 is best at the teaching and tuts. I personally like this channel better tho :P

  • Very neatly presented, If I could master one trick professionally,it would be this, cheers.

  • wow I'm so glad I found this channel I have been trying to learn this for weeks and its like it FINALLY made sense after watching this vid! Thank you so much!

  • what is the elmsley count used for???

i hear alot of talk about it but i don't know when or what o use it for i have one trick thats something like that but you show the person 4 cards but your actually showing them 3 and your hiding heres from them

  • You better check out mismag822 then, he uses it much more often than Andy.

Storytelling with cards or card tricks with some math involved include mostly this trick. Trick when you need to control cards in small amount or reposition card within few.

  • Best Elmsley tutorial I've ever seen. Thank you!

  • cool one of the best trick i have ever see !!!!

  • What is your view on the finger type Elmsley count. It is the same idea but done at the finger tips (I think Roy Walton came up with it)?

  • It will confuse laypeople because they don't start and finish counting like that.

  • liked it =)

  • my problem is peeling off the top card with my thumb at the beginning of the count -_- any tips?

  • This is by far the best Elmsley count tutorial!!!

    even better than mismag822

  • That's the clearest tutorial I've seen on the Elmsley count. Thank you. I understand it much better now

  • wheres the tutorial for the rest of it?

  • That's it. That's the Elmsley count.

  • @RaccooNooB oh i thought it was to mastering a certain part of an entire trick. does anyone know what trick could this be used in?

  • Try the Devils Elevator it's pretty cool

  • great trick thanks :)

    know any other good tricks

  • There's no "rest of it". That IS the Elmsley Count!

  • i keep on pullingaway 3 cards help

  • hi andy, you do great work but as far as i know your techique though effective is wrong. i was taught many years ago that the elmsley count is done from a dual pinch grip, side to side, which eliminates the counting from hand to hand .now i realize there may be some confusion, when the count was introduced in north america it was often thought of as a variation of the jordan count so the two are often mistaken.let me know your thoughts on this.

  • wow! before i couldnt do it but now i can

  • This is the best tutorial for the Elmsley count

  • beautiful

  • freakin awesome!

  • Another great one!

  • great performance

    thanks a lot

  • thank you!

  • where do i post my video reposne for the second elmsley count tutorial?

  • great..except I'm right handed but do the count as if i'm left handed... : /

  • I love your tips

  • Thanks Andy! Thanks for considering my request, great job..

  • Last tip was my favorite =)

  • I dont know how but my biggest problem with the Elmsley Count is taking off the first card. It seems like I never know how much pressure to put between my fingers that pinch the cards and sometimes I grab 2 or 3 cards instead of the top one. idk just one of my problems with the Elmsley and I have been doing it for months

  • Great tutorial, Andy. You are amazing

  • im right handed but for some reason its more comfortable for me to hold the cards in my right hand i think is because i play guitar and im moe dexterous with my left hand

  • yeah you're right.I'm right handed and I play guitar too, and some activities feel better with my left hand.

  • hey ! me too!

  • got that right

  • looks so natural

  • i really like your tricks & tutorials!

    good job

    josch

  • im right handed, and i think its easier to keep 4 cards on left hand

  • thanks!

  • the last tip was great!

  • Really nice tutorial.

  • this is how i've always done an Elmsley count, superb tutorial Andy! Very nice and professional feel!

  • i can enter:) thanks for the tips, i am practicing like crazy too

  • ME TOO

  • I am practicing like crazy!

  • it sucks i cant enter the new contest cause im 17 =(

  • 5th

  • nice tutorial, I've learned a few things. btw "advantage" in the description box. This tutorial is very professional and looks great.
