I was lucky enough to grow up as a teenager during this era. Group B rally, Group C sportscars, and 1500bhp Formula 1 turbo cars. When race cars were proper race cars! The Lancia Delta S4 was seriously insane as it had both a turbocharger and supercharger.

the quattro sound is absolutely amazing, just by the sound it seems the most powerfull, too bad it was a frontal engine, so the car loses grip in the rear wheels and was a little slower than the s4 and the 205 t16.

Which is obvious answer but there is some video where Kobayashi slide the F1 car. Every time i watch GRP B videos i am left speech less and sad,i truely miss the golden days of rallying. comparing GRP B cars to todays WRC cars is like comparing a horse to a donkey! I was talking to a pirelli engineer at one of the WRC events and was told that the biggest advantage of todays rally cars is the tire and suspension technology.a grp b car if eauipped with modern tires,suspension and sequential G Box will be much faster then any WRC car.

per me la migliore di tutte è stata la Delta S4,ma obbiettivamente devo dire che la RS200 veniva sù molto bene,è stata l'ultima gruppo B a scendere in pista e aveva grandi potenzialitàse la sarebbe giocata con la S4,ma sappiamo come sono andate le cose.

@MultiGiuanni , beh dire che sulle auto da rally di oggi il pilota fa poco niente, forse è un pò esagerato... Serve tanto "capacità di guida" anche oggi giorno, certo il paragone con il gruppo B non si può fare. Da un giornale dell'epoca una volta ho letto che un pilota di gruppo B affermo che le auto di allora erano veri e propri "mostri indomabili". Fu per questo motivo che il tutto fu soppresso, perchè le capacità ed i riflessi umani non bastavano più per controllare quei bolidi.

@Flarab Sicuramente le 037 e le R5 Maxi Turbo erano indomabili (troppi cavalli per una trazione posteriore), ma le Gruppo B a trazione integrale erano sì più difficili da guidare delle WRC ma non così indomabili come ci immaginiamo: Didier Auriol (che ha vinto il campionato francese dell'86) ha detto che la sua 6R4 era molto facile da guidare (certo per lui facile...) rispetto alla Corolla e alla Delta. Il vero problema del Gruppo B era la folla.

I used to watch the rallying back when it was group b cars every time it was on as for the newer rally event's i rarely watch it now which is a shame as it was a really great to see people flying through woods,ice and tarmac in a monster power cars

The 240rs was a early group B car. As the most early group B cars it was carried from group 4 but then upptrimmed and fixed for group B. 1982 was just a little start for the group. But the really start was in 1983 then in 1985 and 1986 they was at their wildest.
