I been playing metal for a long time and I found that pretty cool. Always great to see how someone else approaches writing. Nice one dude, good luck at NAMM.
Hey Chappers, bit weird this, but i had a dream about you last night! We were at some guitar convention together and you kept saying how much better than me you were! So we had an epic Tenacious D style "riff off"!! I kicked your ass man!! if you dont like it, stay outta my head at night!! My Dream my rules!
All characters in above dream are completely out of context and Chappers is by far better than me.
I have a little idea which includes the design of the ml-3 ;)))
i think it would look cool when the inlays of the guitar are in roman numbers, like the 3rd fret has an III Inlay, 5th fret has a V, 7th a VII until the higher frets with XII and so on. Is it a good idea?
my favorite inversions are when the Fifth is the Lower makes it sound almost down tuned really the best Inversions have the fifth low and as the high with the root in the middle
could we see you maybe teach how to write a tune, and maybe with some sound samples and you COLLABRITALVEY (chapman influence) build a song with us? :) food for thought? :)
Hell Yeah! I love metal almost as much as I love Chappers! \m/
Still can't believe how much of a guitar that ML1 is! I'm lovin' the crap out of mine and decided not to change the stock pickups...for obvius reasons :-)
Hey chappers, loving all the videos. At NAMM, would you be able to review an affordable MArshall valve amp such as The Haze series or an MA? I have seen the MA jams with Ben Wilshire and co, but could you do a proper review, just a Chapman ML1 And the amp? it will be muchly appreciated and im sure it will benefit many valve-tone-seeker shredders out there too :P Thanks :)
You should totally hit up the Mesa Boogie and Egnater booths at the show. I would love to see a guitar player that knows good quality shit give me an honest opinion on what they see there. Thanks Chaps!
Very nice lesson ,im starting to understand more and more everyday(as im playing only for 2 months guitar). I like to see that your hard work has been payed up ,and now i see cool brands/ names beside you. Keep it going to the TOP.
I like to skip a string in between my two note chords cause it sounds pretty nasty too and I can get some more interesting melodic changes. This is an excellent video though, reminds me of some things I should be remembering.
Tip for everyone - if you don't know your scales, go to all-guitar-chords , pick a scale, and just play while looking at the website. Or learn one box and go from there. Helped me
Also, it would be sweet if you could do a bit on the new ESPs while you're at NAMM, Rob
Get lesson Chappers! I have a request: could you please make a more advanced continuation of this video that goes more into theory, and maybe some more "progy" things like mixed meter, and lastly artfully applying accidentals the right way? Thanks!
@dieandgoaway If you want to change the key pick a different chord to play the scale on. All you need to do is make sure the chords progress into each other nicely and that progression dependent on the notes inside the chord.
If you learn basics of melodic music theory you won't actually have to use scales to write songs, because you will know why and which notes work together.
Please do more composing lessons, they are awesome, i know some threory but im not really good at experimenting with it like you do to create cool ideas.

Love your videos chappers! Felling real inspired to go and make some insane heavy riff´s now ^^ I would love to se a video about doubling a metal melodic part, like many In Flames songs etc :)

Besides, do you have any favorite books on theory? I fail to find something with the right mix of learning patterns by heart and information on the backing theory. It's either brainless pattern learning or extreme abstract theory. Whereas it really doesn't seem to be that complicated at all.
How about a follow up lesson on composing more mellow stuff. Let's say blues/classic rock with more room for distinct chord voicings since there's less gain involved? To my mind it's easier to compose metal stuff because you can "just" sit on some single notes add some palm mute fatness and go along. With dirty blues rock however it's somehow harder to compose really nice stuff. You know, the rhythm riffs that sound really pragmatic and basic yet fat and intoxicating at the same time.

Don't take this the wrong way but for the past few months I haven't really been watching your videos any more, mainly because it always seems to be some form of advertising. I know that's how you make a living and all, but when I start to see it all the time, it can start to wear a bit thin.
I really like what you do though, so I still keep checking the subs to see what's next. Though I must say I'm kinda out of the loop now. :S

i love the fact that you made a guitar that is affordable, and you use it in your videos instead of using those expensive ass esps you own.
PS: that guitar sounds sick dude
