Is paintball a sport? Sport is all forms of physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical fitness and provide entertainment to participants. Sport may be competitive, where a winner or winners can be identified by objective means, and may require a degree of skill, especially at higher levels.
While this is not the entire definition, it does show quite definatively that we do play a sport.
i myself take it as a sport. I spend my time working a job to afford paint and gear instead of hanging out with friends like normal 16 yearolds. But, it is really how you make it is you dont invest time in makeing yourselft better then go ahead and call it a hobby. But if you work hard to play and play hard and work out and take it seriously then it is a sport, that is what is holding this sport back from being in things like the x games
This is a really good argument. I feel that paintball is a sport, especially woodsball. The only point I disagreed with is with the "other" sports you used as examples. It seemed like you were putting down those sports in order to fashion paintball a more worthy sport which I do not agree too.

This argument, which has been going on for 20 years especially when the Olympics is in the air, has it's basis not in whether PB is really a sport or what, but rather that it's psychobabble association (to the opponent of 'sports status") is with kiddie games of make-believe war. It's not a question of rules defense fields etc, those attributes more readily define what a Game is, because as you point out, some accepted Sports like Fox Hunting, or discus throwing, or figure

If some asks me what sport i play i say football and when i have the time i play paintball. people normally are more interested in what paintball is. I understand what your saying but a sport doesn't have to have a defense like as you say cross country no defense just u beating other peoples times.
Paintball is EXTREME SPORT any1 that says its not should try it out and see that its realy is!
