QUE VOZ MAS DULCE.. REFLEJA LOS MUY SENSIBLES Y SANOS SENTIMIENTOS QUE HA TENIDO NEIL SEDAKA PARA COMPONER SUS CANCIONES, NO SE LE PUEDE OLVIDAR JAMAS
In 1963 i bought my first 45rpm,it was "Breaking up is hard to do"i was 15 and in love with a beautiful girl,we played it over and over,we did eventually part but i still think of her 50 years later. In 1982 she was killed in a car crash, when i heard the news my heart was broken.Every time i listen to Neil Sedaka my thoughts go back to those happy days.I just love this song.Thank you for posting.
this is just so sad esp. when i experience something similar but not as couple. My dad used to be really close with me when our family didn't have alot. Even though we were not as close to hungry, we didn't have all those luxury things. After my parents have saved for more than a decade and move home with me, we had items we always yearn for but we all just grow apart too. Our distance has never being mend since my dad pass away, I miss the old house where happy memories is...
Simonpayne12...please forgive me...my memory is not what it used to be...wish you and all the wonderful folks who took the time to look up this song could have attended one of "Mr. Neil's" concerts with me. I think my first one was in Jersey back when Lincoln was President but could be a little off...Good Lord!...from "The Diary" to "Should Have Never Let You Go" with Miss Dara...beyond awesome...thanks awfully for the post...Tunesmith
@afiggiani1558 this is my mothers song to my father, she used to sing it to him at parties when my brothers and i where kids, he was her king but he didnt

The story in the song is about a young couple that started out with nothing with alot of hopes and dreams and as the song states "The Hungry Years".
As they both climbed the ladder of success in their own lives they were growing farther and farther apart something was missing along the way.
And later they both realized that what they really wanted was everything they originally had and lost.
SUCH A POWERFUL STATEMENT.
Thank for the post.
