Did you know that this movie inspired Konami to make the Silent Hill game, they also adding references to the film in the Silent Hill games too, like in Silent hill 3
@Barkermush It doesnt really spoil it. Its a great, great movie. I definitely think you should watch it. It wont be a waste of time. Its very unique and unsettling.
Jacobs ladder - Angelheart - The jacket - agonizingly underrated movies that Hollywood seems almost embarrassed by
For every thousand steaming turds the US industry plops onto the screen (SAW ?? etc) they accidentally allow a couple of gems like these to creep into the light
If you've not seen these ........you should unfortunately most newer films will seem bloody awful, simpleton fodder after these
Always loved this film Jacobs, tortured visions of good and evil , as he fights for his life on a M.A.S.H. operating, are truley scarey , but seeing his son again offering a guiding hand into eternal light allows him to finally let go and die peacefully is true genius. Tim Robbins and rest of the cast are terrific , as is the sound track , direction etc..etc...etc
Class film. The shaking heads always freaked me out. I've done a video called 'Writhe' on my channel - it a shaking and good music! Have a wee look if you have time...
Hey Everybody! I have just released my new electronic album “Sub-Zero” which is heavily inspired by the movie Jacob's Ladder. If you're interested you can listen to the full album on my youtube channel, as well as download the album for free!
This movie is gooood. Depressing, but good. Saw this years a go and I never forgot about it, the scene with the demon in the train and the ending imprinted in my memory. Rewatched it lately, great movie.
I came here cuz this was The Rev's favorite movie and its what Avenged Sevenfold used to make their Nightmare music video (thats what they said in an interview) :D
In the beginning, you see the soldiers going mad in combat. What this flick is really about--is that the Global-Elite-run Feds have been doing drug experimentation on the US troops, since the 1950's,into the Sixties,as this movie does imply. The soldiers are all stoked up on LSD.The main character dies during the fire-fight,in the beginning;the rest of the movie is about him,in limbo "pergatory--" finally coming to realize--that he is really dead.A mindblowing flick; scarier than hell. Literally.
Every once in a very long while Hollywood accidentally allows a gem to creep out into the daylight and this is still one of the best movies ever made. I must have watched it dozens of times over the years and its still wonderful
depressing to think that Hollywood makes utter shite like Twighlight which will be a laughing stock when we look back in a few years time.....
this movie and private school messed my mind up so much when i was a lil kid, wanted to fuck my third grade teacher so bad but never did, but in hi school haaa if anyone knows of california hi school ill tell ya
@bobbysmith000 Well the Government(s) always conducted experiments during WW1, WW2, Cold War etc. So this might not be a true story based on the results exactly, but things similar to this definitely occurred, maybe exactly the same, who knows, but it would never be revealed anyway. But it is sad, especially what happened to those in WW1. Traumatized, mental problems, trench feet, shell shock etc. War is never, ever, ever fun for anyone.
Here's a strange story: A saw this when I was 2 or 3 becuz my parents were watching it; and now nearly 13 years later I still remember the line "According to this, you're already dead." And it helped me track down the name of the film...
@InglouriousBasterds The same thing happened to me! Although I found this trailer pretty randomly, but I think I remember some of the scenes, while watching this some of them I was like "Dammit I think I've seen this already" and it's a deja vu ish feeling lol it's pretty cool :D
If I ever saw this film, it must've been more than 10 years ago for sure
Oh good choice of clips and music by the way. A lot of people are still surprised to know that Jacob's Ladder was a huge influence on the creation of the Silent Hill series.
It's open to interpretation but actually pretty clear in my opinion. Jacob died in Vietnam, killed by his fellow soldiers as a result of the drug. He struggled in death, not wanting to let go because he had unfinished business on earth: The death of his beloved son. Once he made peace, accepted the loss of his son, his soul was ready to ascend to heaven and be free of the demons who were struggling to keep his soul.
Look at the last 10 minutes- the doorman, the "gates to heaven". Freaky movie.
The whole thing is about him dying..the demons are all his memories and him holding on to life, just like the line in the film *If you're scared of dying and you're holding on you'll see demons tearing your life away, but if you've made your peace the demons are really angels freeing you from the earth*..it's about letting go.
It's about a soldier who becomes mentally unwell, suffering from bizarre hallucinations after coming home from Vietnam, as a result of exposure to a chemical experiment on US soldiers in Vietnam.Great psychological thriller, I watched it about 10 years ago and still remember it well. One of my favorites of all times.
yes IAMBELOVEDIAM, yes, death will be the most ultimate experience in your life. You can take all the drugs in the world if you want. But they are all just a portion of what you feel on that 1 moment. If we all think more positive about death, we could even enjoy it when you feel the time has come. Cause when we're death, we go to a wanderfull place. And we will never know pain.
He's actually dead. He may or may not have been given crazy drugs by the Government but the whole movie is a hallucination he has before dying. He's dead the whole time.
