To all yall making comments bad about these great jazz artist, yall have never done one ounce of dedication and hard work these great musicians have done, yet u critisize them. Please just enjoy their brillance they give US. So what Art Blakey looked old. Do u know how many young cats would give their left nut to be where he was sittn right there and being that good, and accomplishing what he did. Then yor comments hurt family members of these greats. My name is Duane Frederick Hubbard. u figure
are you related to freddie hubbard because he is my hero, i play saxophone and i wish i could play sax like the way he play the trumpet, i love him and miss him. respect to you and your talent freddie and always gonna love you till i die.
@DUANESKEE I feel you on that art was in the groove sweating to the thing he composed that 'sthe thing people fail to understand jazz artrist play until they get into there 80s still doing what they love to do freddie hubbards the man RIP
@DUANESKEE Yeah man. People who slam these guys have no clue. As a trumpet player myself and a aspiring jazz musician I get tired of people not realizing how the greats like Blakey, Freddie and all the guys before us had to pave the way for us. Freddie is the most gifted jazz trumpeters of all time. And Blakey might have looked old but he always brought his A game. I owe all these guys by continuing to play and teach this music to the uninformed.
Freddie just plays with a lot of soul and spirit. I'm not putting down Miles down but i think freddie hubbard more an influence to modern jazz on the trumpet. I think Miles really changed the jazz music itself.
On December 29, 2008, Hubbard's hometown newspaper, The Indianapolis Star reported that Hubbard died from complications from a heart attack suffered on November 26 of the same year.[13] Billboard magazine reported that Hubbard died in Sherman Oaks, California.
this is EXACTLY how Freddie busted his lip. he played some great stuff (as usual), but he filled it up with that high and showy stuff that really just killed his chops.
actually, he split his lip on a gig, and instead of letting it heal like he should have, he kept playing on it. It then never healed, and grew into a giant infection that scarred his lip. If playing like this was bad, nobody would be playing lead in big bands anymore. Do your research...
@copedogg888 in a magazine i was reading they said Freddie split hes lip blood running down onto hes shirt .Freddie play super hard I think trumpet players to day rest there chops . Wynton said that John Coltrane was addicted to practicing he even practice on gigs in the back when the other bandmates were playing lol
Eh, he admitted he overdid it. He said he wanted to play like Coltrane, so he just kept playing through the pain. He said it was a mistake in the long run.
Freddie killing!!!
