What a noisy crowd! How rude... When I went to see MONO everyone's jaw just dropped (oh yeah... and they played far too loud to be able to hear any talking).
mono is very cool. also check out this acoustic instrumental trio. this particular song is written and performed in slow tempo, 54 bpm! search for "Radium Karmara"
Mono doesn't intend to play for retarded audiences like that. They play beautiful music because they can and because they know how to do it like no other band I've heard.
It's so sad to me that most of those people couldn't see the beauty that was on display that night until it was forced upon them by shear volume. Everytime I've spoken with the members of Mono they have been so polite and great. I try to personally thank Taka and the others each time they visit whichever city I see them in.
eat some mushrooms, light some candles, and listen to mono laying on your living room floor. It is the most incredibly mind blowing experience you could have
if i were a roadie for mono, i would jump in the crowd and slap the shit out of that dude who blurted that drunken garble, throw him and tell the rest to enjoy the show
What a terrible crowd. Apparently in the early days, they'd get so frustrated by the rudeness of the audience, they'd just stop playing and finish. Not surprising seeing this with all the 'whooping' Americans. The irony of drawing inspiration from the US being violated by terrorism, and then this.
what i notice in all mono concerts is that the crowd is ALWAYS talking at the begenning, when the song is soft; but then, they can't help being overwhelmed by their music when it explodes.
That has been my experience as well. admittedly, in a club with a bunch of people around you, it's hard to keep full concentration on them. It's a much different experience listening to them alone in a quiet room. Although I really love their live shows, I think that noisy audiences at mono concerts are inevitable (at least in Instant-Gratification-America).
yes, but what i meant is that, at the begenning, they're talking 'cause they're simply distracted. when the songs escalate to overwhelming degress, however, no-one talks, everyone is submerged by the music. listen to bootlegs - many times, people will scream "C'MON, YEAH!" at the slow beginning of songs, but when the song is over, there're two or three seconds of COMPLETE silence before the aplausing. mono drives into them even people who are not into them.
i would make such awful sounds, the crowd would be forced to put their fingers in their ears, as if their words would be as creative as mono's sound...
it would depend on how i feel at that moment, i can't predict... some artists can shut their environment off, i'm too well known about what's happening around me... when i'll be on stage, i would turn my back and make the room as dark as it can get, without lacking my abilities as a musician...
bit like death in june - disappear in everyway, they fixed a wick on their had, for making it impossible to see their face...
Typical "Pitchfork" crowd. They have their local indie club, where they show up each weekend, having done a quick search of Pitchfork to get some talking points on the band that is playing, and then proceed to talk. The whole time. Guzzle the ubiquitous PBR, show off their Castro caps, ugly button front shirts, hope the skinny girls with lopsided haircuts appreciate how thick their beards have gotten, or how thick the frames of their new glasses are.
this is great stuff.. sort of like a minimalist GSYBE! Id be bummed out if I went to see these guys with this kind of crowd also. I play in a band called The Monos, funny that. Shit this sounds good!!
You can tell this is from the 'one step more and you die' era because anyone talking at a MONO show these days gets SHUSHED by the rest of the audience, vigorously!
These people should suffer for their heresy commited against the godly mono. please don't think I'm a mono fanatic, but this is really too much for me...
i watched mono 4 years ago , and since then i always remember how i was fascinated! "i lose my soul" this is so true. i watched them beside the sea at the sun down, it was enchanting !
awesome tune, I think how the people talk thru the 'quiet part' of the song is great, coz the 'loud part' just fucking flush all the annoying talks away
Shut the fuck up allready ... it's one of their best songs

People think that the quiet parts are unimportant therefore they talk through it and miss the whole effect.
