I HAVE 3 JOBS, Currenlty.

I do not claim any benefits, I pay tax and NI - etc...

The camp has massive local support.

We can't carry on recklessly burning more coal if we are going have any effect at all on climate change ! wake up people.

Why are you trying to save non-native conifer plantation of low biodiversity value which will probably be replaced by high-value native broadleaved woodland once the mining is finished? I am a conservationist also (countryside ranger), but what you're doing does not make sense to me. What are you actually trying to achieve?

The point isn't to save the conifer plantation -- plenty more where that came from -- it's to stop the coal mine, with its attendant thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions and carcinogenic pollutants.

Cameronian1st, I stayed at the camp much of this summer and whenever I went into Douglas we received a warm welcome from everyone. We've been far from begging. We've had piles of food, equipment, rope, wood and even a crate of beer given to us by people without us asking for it.

Some locals may indeed oppose the opecast mining proposal and freedom of speach entitles them to this opinion.

What i've yet to witness is the 'many' locals supporting this 'camp' other than lots of very inquisitive youngsters who see you as not much more than a joke.

Not only are you on our doorsteps begging for money for food and to pay your fines for breaking the law ( i kid you not) but you have also polluted the village with traffic police much to the locals disgust.

How many objections to a planning application and how many people need to turn out to public meetings before people accept that there is huge local opposition to the mine? And how many locals need to come and visit the camp, bring donations, food, water, building materials, how many locals have to thank us for doing what we're doing at meetings and events in Douglas, before we stop hearing things like the above?

The miners funded LadyHolme Hospital many years ago to keep it afloat and the locals are very grateful for that.

Where is all this ' the locals support us' nonsense coming from? I've yet to meet anyone from within the village who welcome this 'camp' and the tramps that infest it.
