No, I hear some soul there. I think she just has a somewhat unusual accent and phrasing. Perhaps a little different than most of us have come to expect from singers who typically sing this song. She obviously has some technique and a voice with some very good qualities, as well. I think she has something here.

It's not suppose to be country. Janis Joplin sings it and did a much better job. No offence you have a nice voice, but I can't even listen to Faith Hill's version of Piece of my Heart.
